- RIchard Berry, the author of the song LOUIE LOUIE, performs with Jack Ely, the original lead singer of The Kingmen, backed by the Lady Bo Trio. This is the very first time they'd ever met, and this was their only musical performance together, live on the "Maximum LOUIE LOUIE" marathon that took place at KFJC Radio in Los Altos Hills, CA. This happened on the second day of the event - Saturday, August 20, 1983 at 3PM. The full performance, assisted by various members of the audience, lasted approximately 50 minutes. The entire marathon went on for 63 hours with over 800 unique versions of the song, and this was version #315.
This event was the starting point for the LOUIE LOUIE documentary project still being produced by Eric Predoehl, and all rights are reserved.

Richard Berry's version was always my favorite version, but Lady Bo killed it. Love it~!!!
I like Lady Bo's vocals. R.I.P. Lady Bo.
As the video title says, it's an excerpt...KFJC let a bunch of the the hangers-on into the studio to sing along during the last 20 minutes of or so of the jam.
A buddy of mine and I were lucky enough to be there at the right time, and got to sing along on the chorus. I got to sing "Louie Louie" along with Richard Berry and Jack Ely... a great time !
This was such a fun time. Crew cuts and bowling shirts. We did our own version under the name of "Twist Off And The Caps." I was as totally inadequate on bass as I was on back up vocals. It did not matter as we delivered the tape to KFJC and witnessed our "masterpiece" being played on the air live during the legendary marathon. Have the memories. WIsh I still had the T-shirt. Long live all of the KFJC legends: "Doc" Pelzel, Marty, Lynda, Stretch, Zep, Hawkeye, Scott Stapleton, Jeff Cloninger and all those I can't remember due to old age and other life indulgences. I did go on to be Promotions Director, Music Director, D.J. and Program Co-Ordinator for the 1985 Inter Collegiate Broadacasting System in 1985. Our Keynote Speaker was Frank Zappa and Matt Heckert from Survival Research Laboratories gave a well received lecture.
I work at KFJC and there are posters even now of this event
I true classic, I never grow tired of listening to this song, Richard wrote this cool song and Jack made it famous, I just love it. Not to mention Lady Bo is awesome.
Hope documentary will come out soon!!!❤
Thanks. Me too.
I was only a day old when they got together to do this.
Damn Lady Bo got a killer voice. Sometimes some age improves it - def. the case here
Awesome.
BEST version here on UA-cam! Amen brothers & sisters. Oh Lady Bo you so rock! So love your motown-gospel-soul flavor you add to this timeless ageless classic song Louie Louie [excerpt]. P*R*I*C*E*L*E*S*S
We loved Louie Louie just as much as he did Richard Berry any time any year love and miss you Richard and Louie Louie
Perfect performance of the ultimate party tune.
Who doesn't remember this classic tune and it makes it all that much more enjoyable to hear it played by some of my friends, Wally Malone (bass), Lady Bo (guitar) and George Ostrander (drums)
that was rocking and Rollin! rocking roll all in one right there by it self Richard berry's deep voice drove me nuts singing this song back in the day it was the bomb the depthness thumpness that with the mileage I want in all songs that's what I'm talking about today! With Mileage the whole group was bad thanks
This is quite something. Just want to be there.
That’s what I call a supergroup.

that bass player is killer
Wally Malone, the husband of the guitarist Lady Bo.
this is AMAZING
I strongly recommend the book Louie, Louie by Dave Marsh. It gives an in-detail account of the origin of the song, the music scene in the Pacific Northwest in the late 50s and early 60s. the different bands that played the song, the details of the studio session in which The Kingsmen recorded the song (followed a week later by Paul Revere and the Raiders recording it in the same studio), how the song broke nationally, and--oh yeah--Marsh HATES The Kingsmen.
holy shit this cooks!
Love it!
LEGENDS!!! ❤❤❤
