I was a mail carrier for 31 years, and because of the cost of life, I ended up with very little in my 401k. My last year in 2021, I made $70k. When you consider a $20 bill today has the same value a $1 bill had in 1970, $70k is not alot. If a mail carriers salary kept up with inflation from 1970, I would have made $180k my last year. That's how out of wack salaries are. Everybody's underpaid....

USPS disorganization and confusion is woven into its culture unfortunately. So many of us don’t know what’s going on and what’s available to us and it seems as though that’s just how it is.
I only signed up for dental and vision through Fed VIP because I have medical through the marketplace… Now that I’m converted, I will take out full medical dental and vision with the higher quality plan they provide .

So for dental plan, did you have options? There is typically a basic and then comprehensive plan which will cover expenses like root canal. Get that root canal, set up a payment plan if you can, because once your teeth go bad that can impact your health more thus increasing health care expenses in the long run. Maybe stop the nails, I’m a nurse so I’ve gotten use to short nails without all the extras. Let that thrifting habit go, lol! Go thrifting only when necessary. You buying cute outfits but said you not going anywhere?? Get that dopamine high another way❤ Also check your car insurance deductible, is it $500 or $250. Higher deductible equals lower premium. We are definitely living in hard times. I had to create my own budget just to stay within my means and I’m really trying to stay within it. It will get better

The union contract is in negotiations and I personally feel contracts don't work while in the middle of inflation crisis. Hopefully they will fight for bigger COLA and hopefully a new pay scale. How long you been a CCA? Do you have the Federal Blue cross blue shield plan? Please reply I will try to get you as much info as I can. You definitely need to compare plans at open enrollment. For dental i had Delta Dental high option, but just changes it to Geha High option. It's a little cheaper, and I dish out a little bit less. They don't cover the fluoride varnish it's $25 at my cleaning visit. I dont get the vision. I went 6 year without vision went to costco visit the eye doctor there and my vision didn’t change and bought new glasses at costco. They are affordable in my opinion. You have to have lense prescriptions that are under two years to purchase from. My friend is a career carrier and love the union insurance. She said back when she got braces she paid ZERO $ for it. Hang in there and once you make regular and you want to move up get it. There are a ton of positions other than supervisors and management.

@Youareheretoo A man is supposed to provide for and protect his family. That is what we are called to do. I'm not yet married but I will go above and beyond for my family even if it means getting a second job. I don't want my wife working when she starts having kids and I don't want my kids raised in the daycare. Maybe I was raised differently but my father provided everything for us and my mom stayed at home. I never saw the four walls of the daycare. We were not rich and my parents had 5 of us. In a nutshell, a woman needs to choose wisely who to marry and have kids with.

Not necessarily. I know PLENTY of women who have spouses who make less than her, despises her for it, and won't help out around the house with chores, kids, cooking, and the bills, etc. He expects HER to do everything. The best thing a woman can do is to have her own BAG, good credit, home, car, etc. and not depend on a man. Being financial stable is the key. "A man is NOT a financial plan." 💅

Furthermore in 16-20 isn't 2024 and that should tell you times have changed. What is wrong with you perfect bots?! All you do is criticize what you are afraid to do.

I was a CCA back in 2016 and I only made 16.66 an hour in fishers Indiana. I resigned after 90 days and went back to the medical field and relocated to Florida. I felt like the pay and benefits were garbage for it to be a government job. That’s just my personal thought. I wish you well ❤

I’m a mail carrier in San Francisco California. My rent is $2300 for a one bedroom. I’ve been doing this job for almost 10 years. You get a raise every year as a regular carrier currently my base salary is 56k. Being a CCA was the worst I’m surprised I made it and didn’t quit before getting my own route. Last year I made 78k. Over time is a must in order to make a decent living at the post office. I don’t have any children yet so I’m able to work 60 hours a week however with children I don’t think that would be possible. I want to start a family but I don’t know how I would be able to with my schedule. Shout out to you girl for holding down your children with this stressful physical job!

It's somewhat surprising to see the direct attack of a person. The information in this is based on general income. Her family dynamics has no factor in a governmental job that pays its employees below the median of today's cost of living during a pre inflation period. Take the information within this video, process it and strive to live the most productive life you can financially. This is not a debate, this is just awareness of financial conditions in America!
