It’s a difficult film to see. I haven’t been able yet. May be in some retrospective or special program in the Film Institute. Edgar Neville was at some point more right oriented because of his origins. But, as many other writers in his generation (Jardiel, Mihura, Tono, Herreros...), he was much more than a fascist. He opened a lot of doors, in very hard and dark times, he was the author of one of the most important filmographies in Spain cinema of all times. Also a writer of novels and theatre, his figure has growing constantly in the past years. He is one of these persons that, in one or another of the “two Spains” could have been instrumental in building a space of reconciliation. By the way, I love his work and I am left oriented. I don’t think that Edgar Neville is in any sense someone to be judged by his ideas. He was much bigger than that. Some of his movies will forever be in the top ten of all time Spanish movies.

Nadie pregunta a los rusos si Eisenstein era un comunista favorable a una dictadura asesina, se estudia su obras y sus contradicciones. Pues con Neville, lo mismo.

@@migbah Films from the Third Reich still play on German TV, and Fascist era films remained available in Italy, so it's not unusual.
