Really beautiful and love the beautiful thatchers. The trees look. A beautiful Green with the sun coming thro the tops of the trees. Beautiful Dave Thankyou best wishes Dee 👍👍👍👍👍 when I win the lottery too Dave I’m always saying that 👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
Thank you Dave & Logan. My friend & I set out on this walk today in lovely Autumn scenery. We became confused at Ibthorpe, couldn't find Boundary cottage. -- We eventually did so will go back & continue the walk from there another time.--- For the help of others: -- after John's Copse carry on to end of track, turn left & up into Ibthorpe. - Bear Left in Ibthorpe & walk to end of Horseshoe Lane then turn Left ---Boundary Cottage is a long the road a bit on the other side. (The white house which was a pub is on the Right at the end of Horseshoe lane.)
The River Swift can and does flood in late winter. It can actually rise further up the valley at Vernham Dean in a very wet winter. Most of the cottages along the route are often flooded including that pub on the main road. Walking along Church Street towards the school, I’ve known every property on the right hand side defended with sand bags, but on the left it’s just high enough to escape the water. Hard to imagine in July. I used visit Ibthorpe farm often, as we used to get fencing materials from there. George Trewby was the farmer, but I suspect his son John runs the place by now. (I’m talking about 30 years ago) On the opposite side of the road was a collection of farm machines from way back in time. I always reckoned old George kept every machine he’d ever owned in that paddock. He was a true gentleman. That field of beans, were, in fact, tic beans. These are grown purely for animal feed, being high in protein. It was a lovely walk Dave and I know I’ve rambled on a bit, so you’ll have to forgive me. When you go to places I’ve known well, it brings many memories back. Thanks so much for another wonderful walk.
Thanks Lionel. Always great to get extra information from you. Looking at the size of the "water meadow", I had a sneaking suspicion that the river might become a "monster" in the Winter!
@@DaveFord Thanks Dave. I could write a book on that area alone. I’ve got video of driving along the road from Upton to Vernham Dean with the water completely across the road like a fast flowing river. That was probably in 2002. Nowadays I live in Ludgershall, which is west of Andover, so I don’t get to Ibthorpe or even Hurstbourne very often. Keep up the good work. I love each of your videos.
Where did you park in Hurstbourne Tarrant? When I went there for a walk a little while ago the only place was at the side of the very narrow street - - Not good. Thank you.
Also, You were probably parking at the British Legion Club near Ibthorpe , not the community centre which is behind the school and opposite the church.
@@charlottebanks4252 Crumbs - I didn't spot the signs. I presumed that as it was a Community Centre / recreation ground it would be OK. Thanks for the heads up - I guess Church street is the only alternative then - although as you say it is quite narrow.

Thanks Charlotte. Glad you had good weather for your walk. Thank you also for the detailed directions.:)
We did this walk today but in the opposite direction - that hill nearly killed us going up but it was lovely after that!
Glad you enjoyed the walk. Yes, I think it is easier leaving the "downhill" bit to the end!

What a delightful walk Dave and Logan, must have been there as a child, looking forward to going back soon I hope. Thank you and take care.
Thanks Christine. I was quite taken by Ibthorpe!

Hi Jenny. I parked at the village community centre (by the recreation ground) which is behind the school in Church street.
@@charlottebanks4252 You can park in the community centre without issue. Also free.
