    Great video featuring a great restaurant! The likes on this would be sky high if UA-cam had a smell or taste feature. Even if you don't adhere to a plant based diet, you can't go wrong eating at Green.

      Our "regular" grocery store carries soy yogurt and coconut milk yogurt. Lemon isn't usually my favorite flavoring, but, in my experience, the lemon was the best flavor of soy yogurt. The vanilla flavored coconut milk yogurt seems to be the best of that variety (but the chocolate was disappointing). If a grocery store in a medium sized central Texas city has vegan products, there is hope for all of us!

    Great review, great idea of a restaurant. My hometown lacks a full vegan restaurant for sure. But I have to criticise one particular thing: If it is vegan, food is organic, why do they offer plastic cups for water? Synthetic material is made of fossil fuels, we all know what that means.
    So please, please, if you aim to be so sustainable and healthy, use glassware or pottery instead of plastic cups.

    Damon didn't answer Jake's question (11:56) on why vegans eat fake meats. He just repeated his "it's just not sustainable" and "...living conditions animals are held in" pitch. Okay, we get all that. Either Damon didn't fully understand the question, or he didn't know how to answer it and deflected back to the usual talking points. To Jake's question, and I wish Jake would've interjected and given his own answer; why do vegans pretend to eat animals when they're so compassionate about all living creatures and sickened at the thought of eating them? Why the "mock" this and "mock" that? It seems hypocritical. If I'm compassionate about ALL living creatures, then as a compassionate vegan, I wouldn't want to pretend to be eating them.

    I support Veganism but I think it is too much of a generalisation to say that all animals who are slaughtered for meat are kept in appalling/inhumane conditions. Granted this is true in too many cases but I think this insults many good and honest farmers who take care of their animals before they are slaughtered for meat.

    • @VeganAthlete
      @VeganAthlete 7 років тому +11

      The truth is that 99.9% of animals being raised for humans to EAT are being kept in Horrible Holocaust Like Conditions! But, for me personally if the animals is being raised for Murder/Slaughter then that in itself is WRONG and a form of torture!
      Hypothetical Situation: If my neighbors knew I was adopting dogs and cats from the pound and bringing them back to my beautiful garden for "slaughter" (to then eat for dinner) they would do anything to alert the authorities to raid my home and save the dogs and cats! Cows, pigs, fish, chickens, sheep, etc are no different and just like Dogs and Cats should be treated with compassion! Just because humans are smart enough to trap animals and kill them doesn't mean we should!!! ;)

    • @ChineseAndFilipinoMartialArts
      @ChineseAndFilipinoMartialArts 7 років тому

      VeganAthlete I think that may be slightly too high a number Jake. I get your argument and I don't ever want to see animals suffer either but sadly all life is destined to die at some point and the nature of existence means that all life must consume another source of life to survive (animal or plant). The natural world is very cruel and full of predators and prey dichotomies at all levels. I wonder if the planet could survive if all creatures ate plants and no animals ate each other. Wouldn't there be a huge population explosion amongst animals and humans and an eventual situation where there aren't enough plants to sustain such a large increase in animal and human life? Granted it works for humans as we can cultivate our own crops but for animals competing for resources it is a different story. Food for thought! I really love your channels by the way and this is just for debate. As I say I support Veganism but I don't think it is something that is so black and white. We need less meat eaters though so a more healthy balance would be ideal.

      NXK Martial Arts What difference does it make, if in the end they're getting slaughtered anyway; nobody wants to be killed, regardless of how nice you're treated before hand.

      NXK Martial Arts Nope, considering how many animals are slaughtered to feed humans, 99,9% is probably correct. Human industrial history does not respect slaughter animals. If ithey were smaller, more artisan type of operations, perhaps there would be more respect. There are lots of reasons to eat more vegetables.

      Animals that are carnivores are made to eat meat by natures order. But Humans don't need animal flesh for nutrician and a plant based diet is best for the planet and all its inhabitants. We are supposed to be more intelligent but our modern society is lacking in that area. Present society's are no better than animals who only care about eating sleeping sex and defense.
