  • A customer purchased the Elite Omnia and said the cables touch the cams and I can't get the bow to tune - I want my money back. We look at the Elite Omnia and see if the cables touch the cams and if they do how to we adjust it so they dont. We discuss other bow brands where the cables touch the cams.
We then take the Omnia to the range to see if we can paper tune the bow.
before giving our final assessment of the latest bow compound bow from Elite Archery.

If a shop showed me that tear with a fletched field point and said that was pretty much tuned and they would shoot it like that … I’d find another shop. It’s a hunting bow. A fixed blade broadhead would be 8”+ off at 40 yards.

Look I’ve watched and enjoyed many of your videos.
Because I had this same issue with my Omnia, I watched your video.
I returned mine as well, I believe Elite just screwed up my bow. It happens we’re human, sadly it was my first elite and it scared me away from them after they said/ oh just swap the limbs!
The fact that you consider the horrible tear in that paper to be ok, it questions everything that you consider to be ok in tuning a bow.
If I can’t shoot perfect bullets and perfect at 20 with no fletching, I’m not tuned.
Maybe for a target bow it’s fine but you aren’t shooting broadheads with that tear!
I was able to get a decent bare shaft at 20 with my Omnia but the rest was soooo far left it looked ridiculous and the cams were so leaned over like his. Not to mention the SET bolts would break just getting it that far.
Please explain your acceptance of these tears with regards to tuning!
    Cheers

I tune all my bows to a 1/4 high/ left tear to start. Learned that from a pro archer years ago. He said same as you that it gives it direction the same every shot. After walk back tuning the rest I leave it be. Don’t even put it on paper again because the tear doesn’t matter. If its putting them all on the vertical its perfect. I have an Elite Remedy with set technology and was disappointed. Never had to use it. Shot perfect out of the box. Man I really wanted to turn on some screws to see it work. Well maybe next time. Your looking more like yourself each video. Keep up the great work. No more rubbish bows.

    • @jamesshepherd7727

Any input you make during the shot can move the arrow. On a bow tuned with s perfect bullet hole that movement can be left or right or up or down. It can literally go any direction. If you tune with a small amount or tear the arrow will always go that direction. Like if you balance a pencil straight up and let go it can fall any direction. But if you lean it one way a bit it will fall that way every single time. Lean it less it still goes there. Lean it more it still goes there. None of my bows shoot bullet holes once they are distance tuned. Once you get the most forgiveness in your bow go put it through paper. It definitely wont shoot bullet holes. Just try it and see. This fall tuned my friends Mathews to a bullet hole. He thought his broadheads would fly better. His field points and broadheads were 4 inches apart at 20 yards. Tuned his bow to get both hitting in the dot out to 60 yards. Through paper with that tune it had 3/8 left tear. The paper just gets you in the ballpark. Walk back tuning and distance group tuning is the final say.

I was shooting a Hoyt Prevail SVX and changed to an Elite Verdict a few month ago after watching all the Flag Ship model reviews on this channel. I live in Sydney and therefore ordered it online from you. I love the bow but it took me a while to tune if perfectly because It has so many adjustment options. I blame the lengthy tuning process on my knowledge and skill in tuning and not on the bow. An experienced person could have most likely achieved the same result in a tiny fraction of the time it took me. After spending hours upon hours getting it right I can truly say now that I can adjust the bow on the fly with just a set of Allen keys so it was worth the time I spend on learning how to tune the bow. Bonus: No bow press needed. Hoyt Bows are great, aggressive, high quality bows but Elite is soooo User Friendly and easy to shot. Also the customer service and the speed the order was processed in was incredible and very much appreciated. You should be able to enjoy your eggs for breakfast, you deserve it.

Not to be the one to rain on the parade, but I have owned 2 Omnias. The first tuned in a snap. I tuned this bow myself at the shop I bought it from. Literally took less than 5 minutes. A couple of weeks later a guy wanted to buy it and I let him. I bought a second, and it was a nightmare. I don't currently own a press, so I took it to the best shop in town. $70 later and the SET maxed out my arrow rest was so far left of center my Spot Hogg ran out of travel before getting it zeroed.
This Omnia needed the limb orientation changed to correct the issue. I wasn't investing more in a tune as i was disgusted with the bow. I traded it in the next morning.
Like you, I have been shooting for more than 4 decades, and have been a tech for about 30 years. I would not have found the tear you ended your video with acceptable. A clean bullet hole is what is acceptable. You should have completed the tuning on camera so we could see what it took.
Some of the early Omnias shipped this way. Take a stroll through AT and it can be pretty easily discovered.

I am getting the impression the P/O of my Omnia sold it for a reason. I had a pro shop paper tune it, got dialed in with field tips, but when I attempted tuning broadheads they would cork screw and hit all over. Paid a second shop to tune it. Again, field tips dialed in, broadheads just cork screw. I then did research and noticed both cams rubbed the cable. At full draw both cams are cock eyed as all get out. The LTR is dialed farrrr right to clear the arrow fletchings. I am a bow newb and I am absolutely frustrated at this supposed flag ship bow. What now? Pay more money to a shop? Sell this for a loss? I don't know.

I had an Elite Kure with the same issue. I bought it second hand with factory installed strings, and I received a pack of new Soloflex strings with it too. My first thing to do was to make the used factory strings replaced with the new. My bow tech friend did it for me. What we noticed is the serving was a little bit different on the Soloflex but not much.
I struggled almost half a year to get that Kure tuned but did not succeed.
I was told "it's you, not the bow"..."it's the spine, not the bow".
When everything was centered, cams, roller guard, arrow rest, I had a massive tear on paper. I could shoot almost a bullet hole when I adjusted the rest far left. Not good.
I've tried to tune, to compensate also with the rollerguard. Was a bit better, but then I had such a small vane clearence that I had to switch from Blazers to a smaller profile vane set.
And of course I could compensate/tune with the SET technology. But every time when tuning seemed to be okay, I shot a bullet hole, the top cam was always touching the cable.
All in all by the time I could find a setup when paper tuning was okay and broadheads flew well, the bow had an extreme setup. Extreme cam lean, extreme rollerguard-setting, extreme rest-setting. Not to mention that its forgiveness became a nightmare. A little bit of shooting error caused immediate missing, bad flying broadheads.
Two bow tech friends had checked my bow but could not solve the problem, so finally I've sold my Kure. I believed that its me, not the bow. The new owner made the strings swapped to a new set, and it turned out that my Soloflex set had massively different sizes. I don't know how. But that was the problem with the bow that nobody noticed.
Now the new owner is happy with the Kure, and I am happy with my new Bowtech Solution.

You should get the Spot Hogg Laser Cam Alignment Tool. At full draw, you place it alongside one cam with the laser pointed towards the other cam. You do this for both cams, and make adjustments until both cams are pointed towards each other at full draw with the laser dot in the middle of the string track. I use it to adjust Bowtech's Deadlock system while at full draw, got cams to point towards each other, and boom, perfect bullethole through the paper. You may need to remove the string stop first or it might block the laser beam.

After having read all the comments I am surprised that some people call that a bad tear. I'll give you that it's not a perfect bullet hole, but that is NOT a bad tear. It's not perfect for sure, but that could be fixed by simple nock tuning or minor rest adjustment(s). Regardless of how, I am 100% confident I could get that bow to shoot perfect bullet holes and most likely way before you start looking at cam or limb issues. Then there is the arrow itself. I have worked on a bow for hours just to find out the arrows were not a good fit for the bow - even though based on a spine chart the should have been fine. It does not take a lot to make arrow and bow fall out of tune and seem un-tunable. Just because someone says they have worked on bows for 30 years does not mean they know the proper steps to follow and in what order.

This is one of the things I love about your videos, you shoot through paper and see a small tear, less than an inch, and are like "yes thats pretty good i feel really confident in this bow" meanwhile some others on youtube would shoot that tear and about vomit lol a small paper tear like that wont make your score go down, and a perfect paper tear wont make them go up. your own shooting will!

Yep. I’ve found if I get it to less that 1/2” I can shoot 10 arrows and over half will be perfect the rest is me especially when the same arrow does something different a few shots later people don’t understand that many times your tuning your bow to your mistakes and 3 different people will get different tears

@@bobbyratliff3349 Yes, grip from person to person can produce different tears, that's why the owner needs to be the one shooting through the paper. A bow that's not properly tuned may shoot field or target points fine, but screw a big ole fixed blade broadhead on there and that poor tune can become a big issue real quick at 30 or more yards. I go for a perfect bullet hole and work from there with broadheads.

    • @liamboyle9199
      @liamboyle9199 Рік тому +2

      From a normal shooting perspective...
Negative, don't believe anyone who says you need a tune ("French tune" / centreshot is of course very important for accuracy at all ranges).
The system will launch the bow quite consistently.
Is there a sweet spot? Yes, and people like Tim G and Paige P go on about it a lot. If I had to quantify the gain in going all out, it might be 5% at most? But higher end tuning techniques are useless if you don't have the shooting foundation.
From a hunting perspective, yes tune does matter and even more so with full on broad heads.
Typically if you build a bow up in a logical manner you're sorted🙂

But I wouldn't be happy with that paper tune to start with. And I'd want to see a walk back and bare shaft tune before I'd be happy with it. A little tail high is acceptable, but the horizontal tear wasn't brilliant. Elite customer service and the outdoor group are arrogant beyond belief .
Don’t worry tho, once everyone has waisted their cash on this best bow ever next year there will be an even better bow that they have to have. Should you be able to adjust the limbs to the point where the cam fowls the cable ?
In addition, one of the top shooters here a few years ago ( Adam Shaw ) was shooting an energy 35 and it exploded twice on full draw on separate occasions injuring him , guess what elite did ???? Absolutely nothing !
Don’t get me wrong , I have an energy with over 30,000 arrows through it and a victory x with over 50,000 arrows through it and they have been perfect .

  • @jrhunt414
    @jrhunt414 Рік тому +4

Sorry dude. You shipped him a bow that was so messed up that the cam is rubbing a cable. You have to do a basic tune/ time before sending it out. That’s what makes you a pro shop. Then you top it off by making this video. Stop trying to defend yourself and solve the problem with the customer by any means necessary. Never tune on a draw board, a bow hand is very different from a post on a draw board. If you can’t pull it you can’t tune it. Cam lean is always bad, anyone who says they can lean is sponsored by a bow manufacturer that can’t build a bow properly and has no way to get the lean out. All of this work you are doing should have been done before shipping the bow to the customer. Hopefully you put this on your used rack with a discount. The more the video goes on the deeper a hole you dig yourself. You claim to have spent many hours with another customer and never set the cam lean straight. It’s the most minuscule adjustment and you should do it step one. It’s not the manufacturers job to set it perfectly, it’s the PRO shop’s. Guys working out of their basement selling used equipment are providing better services than your full shop and that should make you sick and want to do better. Instead you make a video complaining about the customer who returned a bow. Then you shoot a horrible garbage tear and say you are happy with it. Just stop. You don’t know what you’re doing and shouldn’t own a shop. Honestly you making videos is the worst thing you could do for your business. It’s nothing to show off and only shows your lack of knowledge, caring, and customer service.

That paper tear is not good. I've been tuning bows for 20 years, I own an Omnia, and bare shafts shot with fletched arrows are off with a pronounced angle. No amount of SET tuning fixed it. 60 lb draw weight at 29" with 400, 350, 340 spine arrows will not tune. LTR adjusted every which way, still a paper tear and bare shafts way out. Hooter shooter removing human error shows the same. I went back to shooting my Hoyts and Mathews and the Elite Omnia just hangs on the wall. Next step is limb swap when I find the time. Not impressed.
