This is probably one of the most comprehensive videos on growing curry leaf plants. I bought a plant and pruned it to get bushier. It just sulked and didn't do anything, eventually remaining leaves turned yellow and started to fall. I repotted, thinking it needed better soil. Still nothing, so I pruned it severely and rooted the cuttings. Now, there are tiny green shoots. Put it in partial shade. I'm glad I didn't kill it. 🤞🙏🙏. In retrospect, I think it went dormant, such was unexpected in Hawaii.

None of the many special products featured in this video are needed to grow curry leaf plants. Trust me, I have been growing it for decades. I have a huge 15 year old mini tree and I make several new plants every summer. All that the curry leaf plant needs is good potting mix soil mixed with some compost. It needs nothing else😂. All it needs is sun light, warm temperatures (80 degrees +, hotter the better) and water. That is all. The #1 reason people kill this plant is over watering/ poor drainage holes in the pot. #2 not remembering that this is a tropical plant ( tree) and doesn't belong in North America ( except South Florida). It is happy here only in the summer. So when you take it outdoors pre summer (March to May, depending on where you live) and post summer, say from labor day, you have to watch the weather forecast fanatically to decide whether it is needs to be brought in. When temps reach low 50s you have to bring it in. It doesn't like anything below 60 actually. If it is a temporary dip i bring it into the garage and take it out again. #3 it is an outdoor tree and to keep it healthy for several months indoor, you have to keep it under a plant light of some sort. Placing it near a sunny window is barely adequate especially in northern states and the plant will be near death by February. Since it is in a container, after a few years, you have to provide a nitrogen source for it. Just add some blood meal (powder, natural and inexpensive) in the beginning of summer. That is itI have home compost. I add a few handful of that every season. When I apply fish or seaweed fertilizer in water/ cow manure etc to other plants,I just throw a small amount into the curry leaf plant pot too. I don't use any chemical fertilizer.
BTW there is some 'mystery' in growing this plant. It can very slow in the beginning, sometimes frustrating and then it can take off. There is a dark pink stem variety ( where the leaves are attached) and that is supposed to have a stronger aroma than the all green variety. Mine is ths pink one and has a pretty strong aroma. Some plants keep making suckers and the main plant remains puny and weak. Of course, every sucker is a new plant. You keep pulling them, new ones pop up. Luckily mine doesn't do that. But mine blooms profusely and makes those small black berries with seeds inside. That is how I make new plants every year.

Also, I never had to prune my curry leaf plant. I just made sure in the beginning that the plant has one main stem ( as you wouldn't want a tree to have more than 1 trunk) and no side branches as it grows taller. At the top , I never prune.
