Its almost a shame to have to put a body on the car, covering all that amazing design and fabrication. Thank you for sharing the update and the finished car will be awesome but the journey may be the best part. Take care, stay safe and peace out.

I had a 65 Corvair back in the day and always wanted to put one of the Crown V8 kits in it, but your build is exponentially more sophisticated than what was available in kit form back in the day. Plus a turbocharged LS will be the bomb (hopefully not literally). Your fabrication and engineering skills are top notch. I look forward to each episode of your build.

I'm really enjoying this series. I've loved the second get Corvairs ever since they were introduced (I'm an old fart) and almost from the beginning thought a mid-engine setup would be perfect for them. Your work is incredible, both in engineering and execution. Thanks for the videos.

My pops has a real 66 covair crown v8 mid engine conversion covair 327 with 4spd has the complete kit even instructions and sales catalog for them. Been sitting for a long time gunna get it out and finish it the way he had envisioned they used to run salom races in parking lots or windy roads back in the day. We trailered it to the Covair nationals last year since it was close.

John, once again you have dazzled me with your precision work and awesome humor. You have made me a John Reynolds’s You Tube Junkie. My wife thought I was having a heart attack when I noticed ep 9 was available. I think I viewed ep 8 about 6 time’s while waiting for this one. Once again awesome work and engineering. Can’t wait to see the suspension in action. Cool design. And Oh, thanks for letting me know that I too have a CNC Plasma cutter.

That’s some beautiful work John. I did quite a bit of fabrication when I was a Garbageman. Mainly busy work during the winter off season. ( I worked Sequoia/KIngs Canyon May 1st/November 1st). The thing about fabrication on Garbage trucks is beauty isn’t requisite. It IS appreciated though. This is really fun to watch and I await each episode with bated breath. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

It’s probably hard to believe now, but back in the early 60’s a 6 cylinder, air-cooled boxer was suspect and foreign to many Americans and shoehorning in a V-8 was very comforting. Kind of like sticking a V-8 in a Tesla today. Nonetheless, a V-8 really makes a Corvair move!! My first car was a ’65 Corvair and I had a buddy who popped a 327 chevy into his Corvair. It was definitely faster than mine LOL.

You’ve probably already considered this but the placement of the springs and dampers more towards the centre of mass is better for handling dynamics. Of course trying to fit them in an optimal place now that everything is mostly in its permanent home is next to impossible.

I've been eyeing one of those fancy articulating armrests for the last year. I guess I now need to go buy one of them too 👍🤣😂🤣👍. Although I suspect it wont make my welds as pretty as my chamfers, but it sure couldn't hurt. Merry Christmas!
