@@merlluthor1371 No, I used to be a hasan fan and just got tired of the grift. I just wish he would be honest about the place in society that he really occupies and the values that he really lives out. I think he could actually be a great model for what ethical consumption under late stage capitalism could look like, but he claims he isn't a capitalist. I'm not mad - just disappointed. I'm glad he donated some money, but the clothes and jewelry he was wearing there were surely many times what he spent on a little charity.
Edit: Cope and seethe all you want, but yeah, I was watching Hasan back in the Destiny days. You bet your ass I liked Hasan back then, and watching them dunk on conservarives together back then was a lot of fun. I don't watch either of them anymore. Taking ownership of the things that make you shitty doesn't negate their shittiness. Hasan leads the life of a model social democrat, but wears the aesthetic of someone further left. How is that not grift? He purports to be more progressive than he is for the sake of mass appeal. Workers' rights and fair wage are not socialist ideals. None of what he supports comprises socialism other than the occasional talking points from an intro to marxist theory course. Like, at this point I know what my political values are, and I don't feel the need to consume content from "political" content creators. I don't love seeing that bleed into pure entertainment spaces.
