*I Think this will always be the #1 thing for people whom want to do UA-cam & are afraid that people will judge them by looking at them or say something while they are vlogging, but with videos like this they can over come that fear as well as going to places like conventions where people do this a lot so that they can feel comfortable doing it*
I can really appreciate Tip No. 1. I was using my ZV-E1 and Pocket 3 in one of the Montmartre neighborhoods this past Fall and got my backpack picked while not filming. They got away with my Hero 11, my primary lens for the ZV-E1, and a bag of batteries. I'm much more careful these days.
Lesson learned I suppose. We were planning to visit Montmarte but when we arrived at the Metro stop, my wife and I looked each other and made a gametime decision to not get get off. Suuuuper sketchy area....
@@RandumbTech I had been there multiple times with only miner sketchy stuff, this one hurt. Too bad because it's a great place to visit when nothing happens. Delighted you guys were fine.
this does get to me in the uk. I think in the holiday areas they are more used to people using Cameras of all sorts but can attract attention when filming in a crowded inland urban area but i am aware that a lot of the apprehension is in my mind as such, not wanting to appear daft LOL. I like this series of videos
Thanks for sharing. I am an introvert getting into content creation and I struggle big time. I also remind myself that most people around will forget [in a few minutes] that they saw me. I recently got the Ray-Ban Meta glasses and this helps tremendously, because I'm not noticed at all.
I also constantly remind myself that I’ll never see most of these strangers again, so I don’t really care what they think about me when they see me filming.
We like your videos as a youtubers and a product tester we need you to talk to the gopro and dji of somme broblems that are not fixed yeat ... in gopro the problem of multicam mode in gopro the remote 2020 when you conect 2 camera or more .. one of them is hero 12 black .. the hero 12 lost conection with the remote ..... its 8 month and it is not fixed ..... the second problem is the dji mic 2 dont work with the hero 12 black in bluetooth conection is stuck in the pairing mode .... try to send our voice to the gopro and dji to fix this 2 problem plz
@@Gemini_Connect interesting I didn’t like the sound earlier but I’m guessing it’s something to do with the preamps on the camera? I’m a little confused because I didn’t like it when it was on the go pro but I loved it with the 4:42 segment do you mind sharing the camera you used for this or was it the osmo pocket 3? I loved this video and I’m going to watch it again with headphones and investigate 🥰🙏 thank you!
Great tips! I’m going to be getting a pocket three soon… May I ask how you got it to just stay static and not follow you and track you? I like how it stayed centered. Often times when I see filming with the pocket three I can see the gimbal tracking the person which is cool, but I like your choice of static shot for most of these shots. PS: one of the things I love about filming and photographing with smaller cameras is that they are discreet. I’ve been doing a lot of vlogging with my GoPro 12 and it’s perfect for having no one know that you’re filming. I’m sure the pocket three is amazing for this.
Question ❤I wanted the Dji mic 2 but it cut out so much ambience that and I prefer the mke200 go pro audio over the Dji mic 2 it sounds muffled to me idk why 😅 is there a way to make it sound not so isolated?
Good question. Wireless / lav mics like the DJI Mic 2 are intended to reduce background noise, so if you want more of that, a directional mic like the Sennheiser is a better option.
Hey thanks for the video, I plan to solo travel and vlog, not for content creation but for memories. I feel the osmo pocket 3 would be nice since I assume it doesn't get much attention when walking around or eating etc but also I am thinking about the idea of iPhone probably being a higher risk of being stolen. I am also thinking iPhone 16 Pro would probably have better quality video and may even beat the Osmo pocket 3. Also, have you used the pocket 3 for photos ? how is it compared to iPhone for social media use? I'm unsure to get iPhone or Pixel 9 Pro or Pocket 3 for travel and taking pictures/videos Please let me know your thoughts :)
Great video. I am really enjoyed this topic. I also watched your "confidence" video. Could you use a 360 camea instead of say the DJI or GoPro? I have one of those. I'd love to see some videos on how to film yourself with a cell phone in situations like this. .
You could indeed use a 360 camera. For Insta360 products, however, I’ve found that connecting an external mic via the mic adapter seems to degrade audio quality. So you may want to record audio internally to a wireless mic like the DJI Mic 2 and sync it in post production later.
@@Gemini_Connect I didn't kow that using the mic adapter would mess up the sound. I've got it but I haven't tried that. Have you ever done a video about syncing sound? It seems so hard. I don't use Premiere Pro, final Cut Pro or DaVinci. I use CapCut.
Thanks so much, that was very helpful! I do worry quite a lot about camera security. It's so easy now for someone to snatch and grab a camera, especially such a small one. It's unfortunately becoming a much bigger problem in the US. What other security measures do you take? Name carved onto the camera? Insurance? I also once had a run-in with a loony in public in Montreal who wanted to be part of the shot. He eventually shoved the singer (we were shooting a solo music video) and stuck his face right next to the lens. I didn't want to fight with him, so I yelled "Security!" at the top of my lungs. A very large person who just happened to be walking by stepped in and got the guy to leave. Unfortunately in some places in public it's just very challenging to maintain a safe shooting space.
When filming at home, I have my go-to spots that I know are safe. But in a new environment, I scope out the area for awhile before pulling my camera out. If there’s even a slight feeling of unease, I won’t film (especially if I’m alone). Other than that, I do insure my gear just in case, and I alsofilm short clips (5 min or less) in public and quickly put my camera in a secure spot when I’m not using it.
That is one thing is my concern. Filming and then get a camera snatched out of my hand. I guess it's safe to film at tourists sites since most people have their phones and cameras out anyway. Blend in. I need to get the Osmo DJI Pocket 3. I bought the Akaso Brave 7 and I kind of regret buying it. The quality is not that pleasant. If I would have known about the DJI Pocket 3 prior to buy the Akaso, I would have bout the Pocket 3 instead. I thought about the GoPro but...IDK. Great Tips and filming in public. I have to get used to that. Talking to the camera for that matter.
5:28. you have tomsee ely2 channel. about that recording others while you vlog here in nyc. its our right toflim anything we see in pulic no. one can come up to you and ask you not to vlog 😳🤷🏼
Good vid. I just would like to quote Babe Ruth, you miss 100% of the shots you never take. Film in public, ironically the more "illegal" and "awkward" the more newsworthy it is. You literally never know you might have caught history. Never stop! :)
@@Gemini_Connect it may be the mic placement but it just sounds very monotone I find the rode mic has more depth and roundness not in a podcast way but I’m wondering if it’s also the preamp from the camera because it sounds great on 4:42 , going to investigate with headphones on!
I do find it funny that although everyone has a camera phone and devices like GoPros are commonplace and seen in every major electronics store, some passersby still stare down the lens of the camera when people are filming in public as if they are witnessing some strange futuristic technology.
My favorite occurrence is when I have the camera pointed at myself and I’m actively talking to it, and people on the other side duck or try to “not get in my shot.” It happens sooooo often 🤣
I do get a tad nervous but I never feel awkward I feel nervous because I live in a city that is not an international city you just don't see people vlogging with a camera around here so I receive a lot of reactions generally in the form of nasty looks. Obviously it's more easy and comfortable to film in public using a selfie stick or gimbal but notice if I film without one nobody even notices that I'm filming but the selfie stick makes it quite obvious that you are filming
I hardly ever film myself. I always point the camera away from me so people can see what I’m looking at, or where I’m going, instead of looking at me and seeing where I have been. I still talk to the camera, I’m just not in the picture most of the time. This might change in the future, if by some miracle, I get better good looking!

In most cases, I think the barrier to filming yourself is completely psychological. The more you do it, the easier it gets.
So good... Thank you
where can i get the mini extension tripod from!!
Thank you
Loved the tip of having the camera a bit far away from you with the wireless mic. I forget that I have that ability

I don’t have any connections at GoPro. I buy their cameras with own $$. Hopefully they pay attention to comments on the videos and see this.
I just film with my phone, it's all I got for now. Thank you for the great tips.
What mic is at 4:42 surprised how goood it sounds
It’s mostly the DJI Mic 2 throughout the video (including at 4:42). Just a small part is filmed with the Sennheiser.

The Pocket 3 will automatically be static and only tracks you if you enable Active Track by tapping on the subject in the screen.

4:42 sounds way better 😮 maybe because it’s not being held ? Mic placement? I’m not sure the shotgun mic sounded more natural 😊
