- My wife was on Banner Elk Hwy when the Helene became most powerful in western North Carolina. She made it to Banner Elk around 7:30 am on September 27 2024but was turned around. When She started heading back she had a tree fall right in front of her. She ended up sleeping overnight in her vehicle. I went the day after to get her. You will see just before I got to her the crew in fron of me cutting the last of the trees before where she was. There is so much Devistation in the area, please pray for everyone's safety.
The music really set this video apart!
Thank you for posting. I grew up in Banner Elk. I live in Orlando. My Father and Grandmother live in Matney and Banner Elk. I wish I could get ahold of them. I am praying for all my friends and family
A lot of the homes seem to be in one piece with no significant damage. There are a lot of downed trees and power lines but the roads are navigable. They're luckier than most other people.
Sad to see the old Heaton store washed out. I spent most of my life in Avery County. I miss living there. Some of the finest people I have ever known live there. I hope they are all well.
I've made many of trips up this mountain from Mint Hill NC . Our company has been working here for many of years and I have allways dream of having a home here on the top .seeing this sure makes me a little sad, so in time and a lot of work they will bring it back to life, time heals every thing .
I pray for everyone who has been affected by this monster of a storm. Im so glad she is ok.
👍 Video was all right, the music, uuuugggh! Had to put on some Willy.
Cuz you can’t pick anything good.. it’s all copyrighted 😂
I appreciate the video, mind blowing. But you didn’t make it to Banner Elk. Should be titled Road to Elk Valley
Ate at a restaurant in town when I went skiing at Sugar Mountain.. rough, steep roads!
WHAT ABOUT CRANBERRY GAP? YOU WERE RIGHT THERE!
Watch out for future land slides! That soil has shifted and gotten weak spots all.around. The next rain or high winds could trigger the ground to give away
What road to Banner Elk?
