NOT AS GOOD AS LUGOSI!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
"Enter freely of your own will" - that's so ironic, consider Dracula himself can't go into someone else's residence without an invitation (at least, not the first time)...
I love how he changes his voice, his accent, and even the way he moves to represent Dracula changing from very old to young. That was a really thoughtful touch - the makeup goes a long way to make the effect, but those little touches Gary adds to his portrayal really do the trick. Great job. =)
Just from a technical stand point this thing was the last great special effects film. Coppola's refusal to use even the slightest CGI when it was slowly becoming available is so commendable and the film looks more amazing than any special effects pictures out today. I'll dare say it looks better than Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park which are considered the Sistine Chapel of digital effects
He was good, as was Christopher Lee in the Hammer films, but the creepiest and certainly most nightmarish was Max Schreck in the 1922 Nosferatu original.
Well, to be fair, Keanu was aware himself that his accent was terrible, and if you watch interviews with him, he's his own harshest critic on this performance. At this time he was at the height of his popularity and doing back-to-back movies, and just didn't have the time to properly learn the accent with a dialogue coach. If you watch Much Ado About Nothing, which he made a year after this one, his accent is a lot better, as he had had more time to master it.
too bad the only good choices of actors were Oldman and Hopkins. The annoyance and poor delivery and overall terrible acting of reeves, ryder, and whoever the hell played lucy were distractingly bad for me. It ruined the movie. Could have been soooo much better if at least mina, jonathan, and lucy were recast
Everyone throws shade on Keanu's accent...and yet you geeks accepted Arnold's American accent for years? Hypocrisy.... thee name is film geeks. We...as no talent viewers are so quick to criticize. Get over yourselves and grow a pair (of ovaries and testes). Love this iteration of the Dracula lore...Oldman is stellar. Thanks for your channel..good luck for the future.
yeah ive seen the Bela Lugosi version and he is indeed awesome, however it is the way Gary Oldman speak that gives me the chills, combined with the detailed visual and sound effects around the character they did not have in the 30´s... Sorry to dissapoint but i dont think i will ever watch any of those Twiligt movies...
Coppola outdid himself by sticking to OLD HOLLYWOOD techniques drawn from the imagination and projected as glass shots...the costumes were indeed the set...He gave us the transformative and illusive nature of the Count in its entirety...In this scene, the Count is physically centuries old, and yet able to exude an air of nobility while showcasing his aristocratic breeding to the core. Oldman even managed to give the viewer a touch of arrogance typical of old families like the Count's. :D
His the perfect dracula in my opinion, but they had to ruin it with that ridiculous hair and clothes... and wtf were they thinking using Keanu Reeves for Harker? his so terrible in this film, im surprised they kept doing scenes with him and eventually released it. Otherwise, this scene gives me the chills, i can watch it over and over!
In my opinion it fits the ancient sorcerer thing he has in the book..and the robes are based on the Ottoman dress noblemen would wear in Romania centuries ago
@manboy1 He's pretty much THE weak link in this one. I thought the design, the costumes, and performances, and the adherence to the book were pretty amazing.
The tormented echo when Dracula speaks his own name is a cherry on top, splendid movie
love the pronunciation, he says Dracula as it sounds in Romanian . These little details make it the best dracula on screen.
Marius Malus one of the brides was romanian and she helped him with pronunciation and accent
NOT AS GOOD AS LUGOSI!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
And the voices in the back saying "I AM DRACULA!" I love this movie so much!
@@Bowiiihowdy Yes. In fact, one of them, Michaela Bercu, is Romanian and other one, Florina Kendrick, is Israeli but daughter of Romanian migrants.
And Béla Lugosi's pronunciation was also fascinating, as he was Romanian.
This is one of the reason's why Gary Oldman's my favorite actor. :D

Gary Oldman nailed it he Rocks as dracula!!!
This is the best of Dracula's production....cos later they all face john wick
33-year-old Master of Acting vs 27-year-old Master of Whoa Dude

That's Mr. Burns

Can't blame you for the twilight shit movies. I was forced through one. Oh boy...
Forgive me for saying this, but I'm afraid I have to disagree, Gary Oldman is a great Dracula, but I think Bela Lugosi is the best dracula ever.

You know what's bullshit? Vampires. Yes they have so many weaknesses it's not even funny. No wait, It kind of is.
Dam so stupid Dracula from 1931 is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make up artist really nailed how old would appear Gary Oldman in the future
Keanu getting accent advice from the same person who gave us Sean Connery’s Rushian Shubmarine Commander och aye laddie.

Great flick, but Keanu Reeves' pathetic attempt at a British accent was the worst since Dick Van Dyke's in Mary Poppins.
You can hear the castle take its own eagerly malign breath when Harker steps in-brilliant!

I would have called Blade Runner the last great special effects film, personally.

best dracula ever !!!!
Wait, did you just say Kevin Reeves?
Welcome my ass!! leave me alone ahhhhh!!
Little did Harker know of the nightmare he just stepped into.
Gary Oldman is such a great actor !!! HE IS Count Dracula
"Dad? Do you notice anything unusual about him?"
H
"Yeah. His hair looks so queer..."
"I heard that!"
"It was the boy!"
When people come out and say DDL is superior to Gary Oldman, they may know DDL; but certainly not Gary Oldman.
One of my all time favorite cinematic scenes. ❤
This is one of the worst Draculas ever made. He looks like an old grandmother wearing a nightgown.
I REALLY wish they casted a better actor than Keanu Reeves/
Kudos to Gary Oldman!

Old Dracula (Bram Stroker's 1992) meets suck Morrigan is a the neck blood saved healed darkness spells burns.?! $()+
Fascinado
@Drac39
I hate CGI.
Props and miniatures will always look better simply because they are physically real objects.
This movie was great.
