Forwards are kind of nice when yer out on the highway, but if you're a new rider and you're in a more suburban/urban area where you're stopping often, it can be a little dicey.
I got my 2021 Scout Bobber for a variety of reasons: 1. Forward Controls 2. Small Digital Display (Small but adds up to value imo) 3. USB Charging port (Again, small but as a daily it adds value) 4. Power/Torque I could grow into 5. Nice Styling and Colors - Wide tires, and semi-aggressive stance. 6. Bar end mirrors (Mine are up rather than down as shown in your video) 7. Nimble - Like you said in the video it's nimble. Normally I wouldn't have thought of a bike like that to be so flickable and nimble! It's my first bike and so far it's been lovely. I've had no issues with it rain or shine and have yet to lose control or drop it so I'd say the Scout Rogue would be a great beginner bike if you like the styling. I'm about 5' 10" - 230 lbs and I find the forward controls very comfy compared to something like the Sportsters. So my bike was ordered from some guy who decided to finance that and start on financing a house so it all fell through - fortunately for me mine came with the comfort seat so that was a HUGE benefit to the rideability of the bike long term; the only other problem I had with it was the stiff suspension. It's set pretty harsh from factory but using the spanner, I softened it all the way and it was a huge improvement. I might get an aftermarket suspension at another time but we'll have to see how the funds for that go.
I'm a convert from years of sport bikes. My back (old) will not tolerate that riding position for any length of time anymore. So the 'sit-up-and-beg' riding position is for me. I've gone from rear-set pegs to mids. Maybe later I'll progress to forward controls. For a beginner?? Get out there on as many possible machines to find out what suits you best. And Buy Used! You'll inevitably change your mind in six months or so. Just my two cents. Good stuff, Jess! Keep it going!
I’m a brand new rider. I bought my 2016 Scout Sixty in December. I just passed my MSF Basic Rider Course today so I have yet to ride it on the roads. I have driven it around parking lots and was very comfortable as a new rider. I can’t wait to get it out more. If our Wisconsin weather ever let’s up!
I am proud of you. You are growing into motorcycling- your vision of how you want a motorcycle to be for you is sharpening, as is your skill level. I see those matters playing leapfrog with one another as you grow. You have long said you weren't into ultimate performance, or intensely twisty roads. You have said you were into just traveling and seeing things and being with people. On the other hand, this is the first time I heard you mention you generally preferred mid controls. That is the sign of a versatile, skilled rider- you would sooner stand up for an obstacle than slow down. It is also useful for gravel and unpaved roads. You also complained about a restricted lean angle. That is a sign that you have taken that degree of lean for granted, another sign of skill. You are starting to outstrip the capabilities of some machines. You may still not dig twisties or gravel, but you are riding at a high enough level now that you are starting to want what skilled riders of difficult roads want. Despite your modest ambitions, you are becoming one of those riders. So proud of you!
Forward controls, I'm 6' and mid controls tend to cause pain in the hip joint areas. Btw, just a size correction on your friends scout engine size, it's the same size 69ci or 1133cc, there's never been a 1200cc scout, there have only been two scout engine sizes, the 60(ci) and 69(ci).
I agree with the Mid controls.....I'm a shorter person and forward controls are terrible...all the weight is on the tailbone and not on the cheeks. Stuck in that position...If I wanna stretch.. Id add highway bars.
As a minimum, those bar-end mirrors should be mounted up instead of down. The functionality is greatly increased and in case of any low speed drops the up position will prevent the mirrors from impacting the tank. And no, those mirrors can not be mounted where regular mirrors go...you have to purchase different mirrors.
Jess, I agree with all you said about the Scout. I did ride one when these first came. Being that I'm 5' tall and I must say perfect fit. Have a great day and safe riding. Oh I almost forgot, you spoke a little about California roads etc. Absolutely the truth. Take care.
Issues? I'll bet she has subscriptions!!! Love that little giggle Jess has when she cranks on it. A starter bike? I guess that depends on skill. I would say it is to much bike for a starter.
my buddy had a Scout for a year or two.....sold it exactly for the same peeves you had....suspension (killed his lower back), forward pegs ( not being able to cushion yourself when going over bumps, pot holes or obstacles)...and the 25 point turn around, if you pull into a long narrow driveway.....more than ample power and fun on a perfect road.....
Nicely done. Without sounding critical, rear suspension is most definitely adjustable on all Scouts. I do agree with your thoughts on the mirrors though. The Rogue is available in both 60 and 69 cu in. for anyone that's interested. Mike
Sadly our local power sports dealer dropped the Indian line this month, and are going to concentrate other Polaris products and John Deere lawn products. So the nearest Indian dealer is about 100 miles away, even though the Indian factory is less than 3 miles from my house.
I bought a 2021 scout. The forward controls took a little getting used to. I love my new ride. If the rogue was out I probably would of bought that one. I love just riding though. No regrets. Thank you for posting.
I love the 10-inch mini apes. I have them on my Softail Slim. Would you replace the seat with a Saddlemen step seat? Good video, Jess. Have a great weekend.
In Australia we can't go past a 650cc for Lams approved motorcycles, but once you have past your provisional license of 12 months and then you have to hold your open license for another 12 months before you can buy what ever you want, don't quote me on that it's just going off memory
I have found that it makes bikes with forward controls more comfortable when you remove the round pegs and replace them with mini floorboards, or at least flat pegs that are a few inches across.
Thanks for the pros and cons. When I get closer to buying one I will be aware of some of the cons you brought up and see what I can do to fix those issues.
Hi. New here. When I first saw the Scout Rogue, it was love at first sight. I love that the seat is low, something like 25”” or so. Perfect for my height. But regardless, the lower seat look gets my attention. My only concern is the suspension. I only have dirt bike experience but that was some years back. I day dream about having a bike like this one. Knowing that this is also suitable for a beginner makes the desire to own one that much greater. It’s absolutely perfect on so many levels. Your experience riding this bike gave me the chills. Thank you for being real about your thoughts. Now I need to relearn how to ride a bike and grab one for my own. Looks like 2023 (God willing) may be my first ownership of this Indian. For now, waiting on my eye surgery and then time to heal. Will subscribe and enjoy all the inspiration you bring my way. Peace ☮️
Great review as always, I will be picking up my Scout Rogue in 6mths. I have added the preload shocks, mid controls, pillion back rest & ABS. Also its Sage Brush Green, can't wait.
Total agreement on the mirrors. I like the look of it pointing downward. The functionality sucks in that position. I see much better when they're in the up position.
I put the mini-apes on my 2020 and bar ends flipped UP right outta the gate. Hubby and I both have broad shoulders so we love how the bar ends let us see past them. I never could understand how people can see ANYTHING with them down.
As a new rider just getting into bikes I've been eyeing the rogue as I love the look of it. My only concern is I'm about 6'4 and I am a little worried the bike might be a bit too small for me. How do you think Tall riders would feel on the rogue?
Last time I rode a Indian scout was in the early 70’s / a 1939 scout / bought it from a man called Eddie BRATTON. Great guy / fantastic rider. Was a Indian mechanic for Hap Jones in the 40’s & early 50’s. in San Francisco ca. Approached me to give him back the Scout & in turn gave me a 47 Indian Chief. Of course I had to give him a little cash too!! Willy ca 🦅🏍⚒☠️⚡️👊
I find my 2022 Scout Rogue has twitchy throttle. Been riding it for a month now and still not used to it, probably the bumpy roads in my area make it worse. Any solutions to this?
What about a guy that's 6ft. 32" inseam, but doesn't want to spend 18-20K+ for a HD Lowrider S ?? I'm used to Triumph T120 and Japanese inline 4 bangers - I'm really considering one of these as my next bike. On the other end of the spectrum, I'm also considering the Triumph Speed Twin, Kawasaki Z900rs ....hmmm it's good to have choices!!
So I have a 2015 scout 69. I have some time and some money vested in the ride, it was horrible. Sounds like thats still an issue. The pressure put on your tail bone is excruciating….. you mentioned the twitchy throttle, that also is fact, you can hit a bump on the road, have your elbow bounce down with the bump and twitch the throttle. That’s my least favorite part of the bike. Everything mentioned is something I have personally experienced. Having said that, it’s been rock solid for 7 years now. Been through a couple of bikes since I bought it and have never thought about getting rid of it. It’s my go to. Great review.
Such a shame most of the cruisers nowadays have short stroke motors, for me a cruiser should have a low revving long stroke motor. Also it would be fun to see reviews of old bikes. Like an early 80ies Shovelhead FXS or a WLA for instance...
I would suggest you comment on comfort at higher speeds. Is there much vibration at higher speeds. It has power (1100cc), but where is the power? Is it quick from get go or is there more higher end torque?
What is a beginner motorcycle and what is a bike for someone with experience? After not having a bike after 20 years, and last bike an 83 Kawasaki GPZ750. Thinking now of maybe getting a BMW G310R. Only planning to cruise on 50mph country roads. Think the G130 R could be a bunch of fun. Plus I can get a new bike so cheap. I don't plan to go fast , just wondering if I might want more bike.
Not sure if you’ve drove the new Rebel 1100 but how would you compare that to the Indian Rogue. Your advise is going towards me getting either of the 2 bikes as my 1st bike.
Nice ride Jess! Great overall review. I enjoy your perspective on so many different bikes. I’m glad you get to do this so often. But, I always like your ride-along conversations no matter where you are or what you’re riding! Lol…:) Ride safe!
I was eyeing this bike since I feel like I’ve outgrown my 600cc Honda shadow after 1 year. However, I rode my FiL’s street glide for a week and now I can’t see myself getting anything else than a bagger! It’s crazy how quickly I got used to a bagger after being deadly afraid of riding one. Just goes to show that a lot of hesitancies with beginner riders, especially women, are all in our heads. Sometimes I feel like the emphasis that people put on women riding baggers doesn’t help that much, even if it’s praise like “wow what a badass chick riding a bagger!!”. It just makes it more intimidating, bc you don’t need to be a badass expert to ride a big bike. It’s all about being confident and in control. Of course that comes with time, skill and practice, but those things are quickly learned and we should be urging women to try it out, as opposed to making it a huge deal when a woman does ride a 900 lb bike. Sorry for my little rant. Love you Jess! You’ve done more for my riding experience than anyone else.
That little windshield does a lot of good. I demo'ed a Scout Rogue then a Scout Bobber. I have no idea how people ride without windshields for long distances. The wind tried to eject me. Bar end mirrors...I can't see through my arms. Have you ridden the Indian Pursuit? That was my favorite.
Got mine on order, can't wait. Went with the sixty as 99% of my riding is red light to red light so the extra power isn't needed and also can't stand the bar ends. Needed to be more comfortable so passing the 1st bike(Ninja 400) to wifey which will be her 1st until she's comfortable with something a little bigger.
New to your channel and I have nothing but praise for you. I've always appreciated motorcycling form the perspective of serious female riders which have been and are few and far between. This is a great vid and I appreciate the content. One question....how does the bike fare with a passenger? Just for day trips? Thanks! Cheers!
the 60 is honestly not that much tuned down, they cut 5th gear and it has a higher compression ratio in the 60 not as powerful for sure but not that far off either and its 999 cc
I don’t know how safe this is, but when I’m coming into a corner and I want more lean, I pull my pegs up and rest my foot at the tips of the peg. This allows me to lean almost double. I don’t want to recommend it, but also just wondering if anyone does this?
The nightster has mid controls and supposedly the suspension is much better.....everything else though is better on the Indian. (that was one reviewers side by side comparison opinion)
They do make mid controls. A friend’s mother had a 2016 scout 60 and had them installed. Also, they have not put a 1200 on those… it’s always been 999cc for the scout 60 and then the 1130 something. 69 cubic inch.
I'm not sure if you have ridden the new Harley nightster yet but if you have I would love to hear your thoughts of the comparison between that bike and the Indian scout rogue
The rogue has more horsepower and lighter than Harley’s with 114’s. Lighter weight helps handling braking, and acceleration. More power to weight ratio’s
you say it can be a great long distance machine but also complain about the ride hurting your tailbone. can you give me more about this subject? i have a 30 minute commute to work every day on the interstate and want to know if this is something i can live with.
I own the 2020 scout bobber. The only difference is the added a few items. The motors are the same. The frame is the same. The handle bars are the same. The headlight is the same. The seat, shocks and exhaust are the exact same. Indian added the front fairing and bags...they also rebranded it the "Rogue" ... but the price difference is the more expensive with the upgrades that Indian adds... and to be honest. There are better upgrades than what Indian produces. Go cheaper with this bike. Just a few years older and you have the exact same bike. Customize it according to your preferences...don't let Indian make those choices. Unfortunately, Her Two Wheels didn't even notice...
I’m actually going to make a brand new video here soon with my new helmet showing you exactly how I do it, but essentially this video explains everything already! ua-cam.com/video/cHy4zwZAfjU/v-deo.html
Thank's Jess, i' m fan of yours vidéos. But you speak a little too fast for the French that I am, but it's cool to see your channel from France. Lot's of thanks and sorry if my english is bad. I ride on Scout 2016 and Challenger 2020...and KTM 400 LC4. I am 60 years old, and i ride ,4 thousand kilometres since i began ride motrorcycles.
It's so weird hearing American people calling these beginner bikes lol. In New Zealand where I'm from, a beginner bike is anything under 650cc, and anything like a Scout is considered a big bike you upgrade to lol.
Blocks got some good videos, yeah...but don't knock yourself by saying his are better...your videos are raw and full of expressions and personality. Artistics are better at communicating real emotion 🤙✌️. Ride safe.
Which do you prefer? Forward controls or Mid controls?
Forwards are kind of nice when yer out on the highway, but if you're a new rider and you're in a more suburban/urban area where you're stopping often, it can be a little dicey.
Definitely forward controls
Forward controls.
Mids for me
Mids but forwards when they have floorboards
I got my 2021 Scout Bobber for a variety of reasons:
1. Forward Controls
2. Small Digital Display (Small but adds up to value imo)
3. USB Charging port (Again, small but as a daily it adds value)
4. Power/Torque I could grow into
5. Nice Styling and Colors - Wide tires, and semi-aggressive stance.
6. Bar end mirrors (Mine are up rather than down as shown in your video)
7. Nimble - Like you said in the video it's nimble. Normally I wouldn't have thought of a bike like that to be so flickable and nimble!
It's my first bike and so far it's been lovely. I bought the Indian Scout and I'm 5'5 and I LOVE MY BIKE! Its 1000cc. I still enjoy the Honda Monkey lol

for sure, I see her growth as well, she's done real well, hasn't she.. :-)

I ordered my Rogue on 2/7 and I have a ship date of 5/20. Can't wait to put some miles on! I just subbed too....
Issues? I'll bet she has subscriptions!!! Love that little giggle Jess has when she cranks on it. A starter bike? I guess that depends on skill. I would say it is to much bike for a starter.

I rode it a time or two, and I like the pegs under me... I had all the same bitches he had......
Both. It depends on the day. The Deuce & RG are both pretty comfy. I'm only 5'9" and I'm not stretched or cramped either way.
Just put floorboards on my Scout. Greatly improved and highly recommended !!
Nicely done. Without sounding critical, rear suspension is most definitely adjustable on all Scouts. I do agree with your thoughts on the mirrors though. The Rogue is available in both 60 and 69 cu in. for anyone that's interested.

Sadly our local power sports dealer dropped the Indian line this month, and are going to concentrate other Polaris products and John Deere lawn products. So the nearest Indian dealer is about 100 miles away, even though the Indian factory is less than 3 miles from my house.

Subscribed!
What do you think this compared to the Nightster?
Sportster or scout which would you buy if they where your only choice
In Australia we can't go past a 650cc for Lams approved motorcycles, but once you have past your provisional license of 12 months and then you have to hold your open license for another 12 months before you can buy what ever you want, don't quote me on that it's just going off memory
Thank you so much for sharing this video you did a great job sharing about everything about that Beautiful Indian Motorcycle
I have found that it makes bikes with forward controls more comfortable when you remove the round pegs and replace them with mini floorboards, or at least flat pegs that are a few inches across.
I rode a bike last weekend with mid controls and I hated it! Love forward controls. I may have to test ride the Roque…
Thank you for a very informative review. You answered many of my questions about the Rogue.
Thanks for the pros and cons. When I get closer to buying one I will be aware of some of the cons you brought up and see what I can do to fix those issues.
Thank you for the review on the Indian scout Rogue ! I appreciate your honest opinion! Love what Indian is doing !
Hi. New here. When I first saw the Scout Rogue, it was love at first sight. I love that the seat is low, something like 25”” or so. Perfect for my height. But regardless, the lower seat look gets my attention. My only concern is the suspension.

Looks like 2023 (God willing) may be my first ownership of this Indian. For now, waiting on my eye surgery and then time to heal.
Will subscribe and enjoy all the inspiration you bring my way.
Peace ☮️
Your video production is excellent !! Sooooo clear !!

I find my 2022 Scout Rogue has twitchy throttle. Been riding it for a month now and still not used to it, probably the bumpy roads in my area make it worse. Any solutions to this?
25" seat and forward peg is a deal killer, I don't want to fold myself in half like I'm doing set ups.
What about a guy that's 6ft. 32" inseam, but doesn't want to spend 18-20K+ for a HD Lowrider S ?? Hello :) Indian Scout Rogue or rebel 500 special edition?
Which do you prefer? This Indian or Honda rebel 1100 cc?
I have mine on order. Cannot wait!!!! Thanks for the awesome review.

Im waiting for this motorcycle, it should come within the next 10 days. Moving on from the Honda rebel 500. Cant wait.
Thanks.
Which one do you prefer more? The Indian Scout Rogue or the HD Sportster S? Thanks and newly subbed.
Jess, did you ever find out if you can get mid pegs on the Indian Rogue?
That’s a very nice looking bike, and you’re are right - the price point for brand new is pretty awesome!!
I was just wondering how much the Scout 60 sells for?
I prefer having mid pegs with forward controls. This is ultimate feet options
Nice ride Jess! Great overall review. I enjoy your perspective on so many different bikes. I’m glad you get to do this so often. But, I always like your ride-along conversations no matter where you are or what you’re riding! Lol…:) Ride safe!
What a lovely review, here in the UK 🇬🇧 abs is standard its part of the legislation.very enjoyable and unpretentious
my wife looked at the scout and went for the speedmaster both have forward controls she is 5'1' she sits up higher on the Triumph
I was eyeing this bike since I feel like I’ve outgrown my 600cc Honda shadow after 1 year. Actually cool as Brandon helped my brother pick an indian out.
💪🏾❤️
Supposedly they offer a mid control kit, to switch the forward controls back
It is more of what makes you feel comfortable.
I loved the scout! I second the need for mid controls. That would be super nice. Indian is building some surprisingly good bikes. Ride safe, have fun!
Love my scout but curious about the bigger front tire.
Me too. I’d love to see a back-to-back handling comparison.
I love your excitement Jess
My biggest issue is for that price I want a fuel gauge
Got mine on order, can't wait. Went with the sixty as 99% of my riding is red light to red light so the extra power isn't needed and also can't stand the bar ends. Needed to be more comfortable so passing the 1st bike(Ninja 400) to wifey which will be her 1st until she's comfortable with something a little bigger.
How long does it take to get one ,and would you say it's a good criuser for a beginner bigger guy 6' 250lbs
What helmet is that you’re wearing?
New to your channel and I have nothing but praise for you. I've always appreciated motorcycling form the perspective of serious female riders which have been and are few and far between. This is a great vid and I appreciate the content. One question....how does the bike fare with a passenger? Just for day trips? Thanks! Cheers!
So, did Indian take one inch of rear suspension travel out of there standard Scout to lower the seat? I would need the 3 inch travel.
Another great video and review. The price point on that bike is amazing!
Great job. Gonna test one next week
the 60 is honestly not that much tuned down, they cut 5th gear and it has a higher compression ratio in the 60 not as powerful for sure but not that far off either and its 999 cc
What seat?
The rogue seems like it’s set up would be really easy to ride. The Indian machines are fun.
Man idk when but one day im owning a Indian until then ill be rocking my honda
I didn’t like scraping the pegs on BSA 650 Lightning because it didn’t have folding pegs.
Anybody know if the vans and Hines twin slash mufflers would fit this motorcycle?
love your honest review. ❤ watching from 🇵🇭
I own a couple Harley’s a softail springer an a 68 chopper but I find myself riding my victory more than either unless there’s a show.
Definitely a weeee!!!! Feeling lol it's a pretty good price as well ☺️
They do make mid controls.
Stay tuned! 😉
Roland Sands offers a mid control kit for Indian Scouts.
Can you do a comparison video of H-D Speedster v/s Indian Motorcycle Scout Sixty?
Thanks!
Thank you for your wonderful videos ...
In Denmark, an Indian Scout Rogue 2022 costs around $ 38000 .... due to taxes to the state.
Really?! Thats almost like times x3
The Scout doesn’t have passenger foot pegs? Where the just not installed?
I was curious about that too. I believe they came standard on my 2020.
So much helpful information!
VERY glad to hear! 🥰
Indian does make mid controls for the scout.
Unfortunately, Her Two Wheels didn't even notice...
how do you setup your mic? inside helmet NO noise wind???
Indian needs to give you the option to upgrade to the Ride Command display offered with the Chief
I really wanted one of these until I found out it was throttled by wire. That's a deal killer for me.
I enjoyed seeing her ride Indians !
It's so weird hearing American people calling these beginner bikes lol. In New Zealand where I'm from, a beginner bike is anything under 650cc, and anything like a Scout is considered a big bike you upgrade to lol.
Weird!
Blocks got some good videos, yeah...but don't knock yourself by saying his are better...your videos are raw and full of expressions and personality. Artistics are better at communicating real emotion 🤙✌️. Ride safe.
How tall is she?
