I'm 72 and want to say you are a great dad and person. I copiloted my dad's twin-engine airplane when I was ten; I'll Never forget those early years. I watch your videos, and I've learned a lot. I was in the Navy Construction Batallion SeaBees way back in time. Learning never ends. Thanks from Everett Washington.
@vancouvercarpenter This is awesome! Is there a way to contact you regarding a drywall job. I bet you are busy but it's worth of trying. Inexperienced drywallers could not finish the job and left it with more work. :(
She is a natural. Has she shown interest in joining the business? Any extra time spent with the kid(s) is precious. Seeing and experiencing how hard you work to provide helps a child appreciate you and their blessing a little more. Even if this appreciate is fleeting for the younger kiddos, its still worth spendingthis time with them. All too often work keeps us from being at every game/event, milestone, home on the weekend, and those days where a hug and a sympathetic ear is all they want after a rough day. It's moments like this they'll remember. Cheers! Great looking wall!
😊 I am a proud Dad of two daughters. Great teaching! It helps when your student is a NATURAL. Nothing was lost on the safety. Everything was focused on getting it done. I have learned so much from your experiences recorded for me. God’s blessings on you and your family, keep teaching, informing and encouraging others to be the best they can be.
Gorgeous wood! Imagine splitting and planing all of that by hand. Oof! More 'Dad and Daughter' vids! Love that you're teaching her carpentry. You're a good dad, Ben. Thanks for bringing us along on a great experience.
I had so much fun watching you and your daughter working today. What a great memory! I'm glad that you made it fun for her to learn and also emphasized the safety using the nail gun!! You're definitely not only the Vancouver Carpenter. You are also the Vancouver Dad!! 😃
I just watch this shit for fun now. Remodeled my house 2 years ago, which was formerly a rental for 2 decades. Green as they come heading into the project. Replaced all of my walls and ceilings by myself thanks to this dude right here. What a frickin legend. Vancouver Carpenter has saved me thousands, and I know that it's done right because I did it. I'm sort of a perfectionist, and don't think I would have been satisfied with the end result if I had hired the job out.
Responding to another’s comment, moms of girls think this is awesome too:) I’m teaching them how to build things here and there and we have so much fun. Thank you!
❤❤❤ awesome! It’s nice to see how other parents share carpentry with their kids. As a newbie to home reno, it’s great to now what and how I can share what I’m learning with my teen daughters. Would love to see more videos like this! 🙏
Awesome dad daughter video. I always love it when my kids like to work with me on projects! It reminds me of all the projects my dad and I worked on together when I was young! I learned more from him than any amount of schooling or UA-cam videos. Good Times.
You pulled a hat trick; this is fun, educational and so sweet. My favorite part is watching you enjoy shooting the nail gun. I've always wanted to do that!
lol. Reminds me of my daughter’s, i have 3 two of them will tackle that by themselves for sure my oldest will try anything that has to do with home projects or we will face time and ill give her pointers. my son is the youngest and he’s like me nothing he cant do . But love those precious time we share together on projects. Body man and mechanic by trade but i do it alll . Love ur video’s .
I recently bought a new one (bloody expensive in NZ) and also got a cheap older Jap made one last week to compare. Both have a disappointing amount of play in the turn table detents. The blade guard is the most useless I have come across when cutting compounds (it bites). Along with some more minor observations, I am nowhere near as impressed with it as I hoped I would be.
I've been watching your videos and learning from you for years. I've always thought you looked so young, even when you started to get a little grey, so I was a little surprised by how grown up your daughter was. That being said, I pretty much grinned the whole time watching you too interact. Loved seeing how great a father you are, and that you daughter was attentive to what you were saying. Well done.
I’m a grown up Tom boy & I just want to say I love seeing you teach your daughter all the cool tools ⚒️ Most of all (Sry if I’m butchering her name new sub here 😊) Luloo teaching you how to handle them too 😂 Cord over shoulder idea 💡 😂 Wall Looks beautiful !! Now back to binge watching your vids 😉 ✌️
She'll look back on these moments very fondly when she's older. I really like how you make sure she's having fun while learning, as well. It's so important to keep things more on the lighthearted side when teaching safety precautions and other lessons that often get pushed onto people in an overly serious way (which usually creates unnecessary levels negative/ fearful energy and bad memories associated with that).
I sure value your videos, very helpful for repairing a water damaged gyprock wall in the basement. Always sweet and rewarding to be working with your kids!! So special!! I also get to spend hours assisting my sons and their spouses with home projects! However, I have a thought on this video. I see everyone is wearing protective eye wear! But... I have severely damaged my hearing from repeated exposure to excessive noise through my recreational and industrial activities. This hearing loss causes me social, professional and interpersonnal challenges, despite wearing hearing aids (which are not fun to wear). Be aware that any hearing loss caused by loud noise is permanent. I only noticed it after age 50. The nail gun and several of these machines will cause hearing damage, which is cummulative! If you are not wearing proper noise abatement ear plugs, you should at least be wearing external hearing protection. Please emphizise this in this and other videos which involve operating power tools!! Same goes for lawn mowers and leaf blowers!
If she is interested in the trade, give her every encouragement. At least these days women and girls have the choice of going into the trades. Remember to tell her, if she goes into the trade she has to be better than the boys ....... but if she is smart and keen that won't be a problem. She will probably make more money than other girls that go down the acedemic route AND there is a path to higher education thru the trades if she wants it, building, project management, engineering, Archicture. All better if you have a trade foundation. As you well know being tall is an advantage in the building trades.
If you want to do something for equality of women, teach these things to your daughter too, not just cooking and barbie. Then they are more likely to get higher paying jobs, like a master carpenter, or engineer.
We used to have that model of hitachi framing gun. I don’t like how much force you have to put in to get the lever down. I’m used to my nr83a2’s with no springs but it’s only our backup gun not a main one.
My hitachi looks similar to that and its got a selector switch semi(single nail) out or bump (3 nails pictured) Does the Canadian model not have that? mine is plastic collated though.
3:26 what a great dad moment. It was really fun to watch you two work. It looked like you two were having a great time too. Very awesome to reuse the boards. Thank ya for bringing us along!
Beautiful man and beautiful daughter. Intelligent folks doing great things in the corner of their world. Kudos to your daughter for hanging out with her dad and learning some awesome skills.
Beautiful work! And it is truly great to be able to record the memories and work with your daughter, to be able to look back 20 years from now and relive those moments. Cheers from Chicago !
she seems confident. she never flinched when you were showing the nail gun, or when she was using it for the first time. that's a great sign when it comes to learning new things
This is so stinkin cute! You can see the resemblance from a mile away. Simply a beautiful father and daughter moment. Thanks for being a great role model for us all! I just left an 8 year corporate career to finally pursue my passion for carpentry and have been blessed to work as a professional carpenter full time for the last 6 months and learning something new every day. However, I had been watching your videos long before that. Your wonderful attitude and work ethic have been great influences on me. I can't thank you enough!
Cool video, I love taking my kids to work and teaching them realskills. Even if they end up in the white collar world, those skills are always useful throughout life.
My Dad taught my Brothers so many things years ago, and since I was a girl I was allowed to watch or hand them a tool. Much later on in life he was surprised to see how I could tear out, replace and repair things around my house. He asked me where I learned those skills and I just smiled and said, "from you Pop."
My daughter is only 3 years old but this video makes me SOOOOO excited for the days that I can actually work with her on a project. I do have her set up with her only tool bag and tape measure so I'm starting her off early. Amazing job and keep up the great work.
Your killing it as a dad.. watching her use the tools you’ve instilled into her is a special thing.. I have a few diy projects I have to do at my house that I’m gonna get my daughter involved in..

What a gift to be able to share your trade with your children.
Truly talented!!
A natural
Using left and right hand on the chop saw WOW!!!
Thanks for this video. It's great to have your kids take an interest in what you do and your interactions together were really nice.
Thanks for sharing a great dad-daughter day! You guys are great together.God bless your family.

You did a video a while back featuring your amazingly talented dad. I think a granddad granddaughter video would be great
You pulled a hat trick; this is fun, educational and so sweet. My favorite part is watching you enjoy shooting the nail gun. I've always wanted to do that!
I really enjoyed seeing your daughter learning hands on skills!
It's wonderful to see the two of you work together!

Love the old Hitachis. Have been using the C10fs for 20+ years. I have two still. One for big shop and one for home shop.
I recently bought a new one (bloody expensive in NZ) and also got a cheap older Jap made one last week to compare. Both have a disappointing amount of play in the turn table detents. Shop at school really doesn’t teach much but at least it makes a person not afraid of trying new things. I loved shop.
Brotha you are killing it! Keep doing what you are doing! I love your videos. Getting your kids involved is awesome!
Love the matching hoodies, nail gun lesson made me nervous 🤣 back at the bike museum 💕👍
You two are making some great memories and some overall wholesome content. 😁
this is the sweetest thing ive ever seen !!!
This is great! I love doing projects with my son
Sucha wholesome video Ben :) Happy Friday! Wish my dad rocked spitfire t-shirts haha

Beautiful wood!!! Sweet of the daddy - daughter time.❤ No denying her 😉
Very interested to see how this turns out & would definitely visit the bike museum if it opens to the public
It will be open to the public for sure.
Great job on finishing the wall of increasing the line of the board
I’m now more interested in your parenting tips! Me and my teen would probably do more arguing than constructing. :) Anyhow awesome job keep it up!

That is one cool dad.
Nice to see the next generation interested in this kind of thing!
Got two boys and a daughter guess who has helped me to do jobs at work carpenter and joiner unfortunately now gone to live in Australia

Going by what I've seen here, I don't she'll have much trouble doing better than most boys.
That's so cool, I can't wait to tackle some projects with my two girls, they're still a bit to young to use a nail gun though.
There is one of the most switched on 'apprentices' I've ever seen.
Amazing. Good video.
a young female Ben with matching hoodies

this guy looks like josh duhamel
I thought this was a drywall channel.

You guys as family have something against work-gloves? splinters galore

It has it. It’s just always on bump
Happy is a man with a daughter. Very competent, very cool! Cheers from downunder. PP
Girl Dads everywhere are smiling. Good stuff!

Beautiful work! And it is truly great to be able to record the memories and work with your daughter, to be able to look back 20 years from now and relive those moments. Cheers from Chicago !
Shes your twin, good to see a father teaching his children something useful
she seems confident. she never flinched when you were showing the nail gun, or when she was using it for the first time. that's a great sign when it comes to learning new things
Nice tip with the power cord over the shoulder. The ties on the hoodie need to be removed or tucked inside when using power tools.
"I can not overstate how dangerous this tool is".... he says as he is pointing it right at her 😅

Another Cool 😎 Dad!
Wow, she looks just like a talented, beautiful version if you:)
Wow your Daughter looks just like you. I just did a job like this (video on my channel) but I used Laminate Flooring for the lower portion of a wall.
Damn, this is so inspiring as a new dad to a baby girl! Love it Ben.
No judgement here.. great team work
I swore that was Brett copper from the daily wire lol 😅 that’s a good thing keep the good work
Your killing it as a dad.. watching her use the tools you’ve instilled into her is a special thing.. I have a few diy projects I have to do at my house that I’m gonna get my daughter involved in..
