    If you flip picks Hurst with PJ and Key with Parker there wouldn't be the scrutiny - overall solid draft for the future.

    • @CodeinCaptain
      @CodeinCaptain 6 років тому +3

      Yeah I agree but I mean still, I'd rather they not have drafted Parker at all especially not in the 3rd, there were way better players available. I don't even see Parker being better than Sharpe or Ware who we currently have from last years draft. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.. The rest of the class makes me excited though.

      I believe this is one of Oakland's best draft and F/A signings in a very long time. I personally think we drafted a ROY candidate and drafted / signed current and future pro-bowlers. Our depth chart is off the hook.

    • @Aaron-dk1rf
      @Aaron-dk1rf 6 років тому

      PJ was drafted exactly where he was supposed to be drafted, Hall is twice to prospect Hurst is, they are night and day athletically, don't let the fact that Hurst came from a big school and dominated inferior opponents cloud the fact that he is not really that great of an NFL prospect. Hurst is undersized, with underwhelming athleticism.

    Idk if anyone has seen the chubb vs Miller game, but Miller did ok. There was a few plays he didn't execute the right play, but for thr times he did: he held chubb off. Unless chubb had an off game. But chubb didn't impress me much during this game except for a few plays. Miller used his size to stop him. Miller just needs coaching.

    Man, my hope for the draft was that the Raiders would come out of it with a defense that isn't trash. We are actually coming out with a Top 15 defense. NICE

    I dig the "Potential" factor. Addressing needs while building for the future. All should be trainable & Gruden brought in the coaches to show 'em how it's done. I dig it. Now - Lets GO!

    K. MILLER AND PJ HALL are going to be big time players. Coaching has a TON of why players bust or go on to be great. B.P. I'm not as sure on. But then we have Key, Nick N., M.Hurst, being really great with capable PRODUCTION big time! I'm not sold on the LB as well as Punter😅but the 7TH Ateman looks damn good in college, so he could easily be a WR4 in the offense this year. One 2nd/3rd year guy who was all right on D and Teams, when given the chance, is Erik Harris, safety. I'm looking at him as a sneaky 2nd string safety, who may surprise if injuries give a shot. Another non draft guy who showed up well when his number was called, was EJ.M, I'm glad we resigned him, he looked much better than Connor C.

  • @Cosmicslopman
    @Cosmicslopman 6 років тому +7

    Is that not the whole point of the draft? Yes some positions come with more finished products, which is fine at times. However sometimes you have to look at the big picture.case in point when Robert Gallery was drafted I believe he was touted as the top T in the draft. I remember them saying he was a safe pick and could play from day and we saw how that worked out. If you believe in your process and your coaching getting a guy to reach his potential isn't unreasonable to expect expect. Teams have to be willing to take a chance and find gems. Playing it safe all the time shows lack of creativity in your coaching and scouting departments. Some guys have a keen eye for talent and perhaps feel Kolton issues can be fixed with coaching and teaching on proper techniques. Wait a season before getting the pitchforks and torches and running Gruden out of town. Go Raiders

      They said the same about Jamarcus Russell... he was a consensus #1 pick.. safe pick right?

    • @Cosmicslopman
      @Cosmicslopman 6 років тому +1

      Shannon Dixon exactly mel kiper compared him to John Elway. I think all the years Gruden has been studying and watching the game he's trying to to bring together aspects of the old and new together.Even Michael Huff was the number safety the year he got drafted. He was a decent but definitely not top 10.

    Question about PFF grades: do players' grades take into account the level of competition that they are going against? When speaking about Key vs. Harold Landry, doesn't the SEC have a much higher level of competition in terms of quality linemen?

    • @BlackWhirlwindSett
      @BlackWhirlwindSett 6 років тому

      Darren Yee SEC is the top for competition, Big 10 and PAC 12 as well as ACC all take turns being number 2. The SEC has been that for the last 15 years. That’s why Alabama is so good as well as great coaching.

    The thing about Kolton Miller, he isn't going to a bad situation where he's an immediate starter at LT. He has Donald Penn, Kelechi Osemele and Rodney Hudson to learn from, Jackson can help him too. And he has Cable as his coach, who helped Veldheer become a pretty good Tackle.

  • @bobbydigital3061
    @bobbydigital3061 6 років тому

    Hurst is a beast. If Harvard and Michigan docs have no issue, and he played a ton and never had an issue during his college career then this is the steal of steals

    I think Martavis Bryant might be the best pick up from draft day. He has big play potential I’m so excited to see him. Our problem last year was that we wouldn’t take the top off the defense. Like Johnny holtom was our best deep threat besides coop.

  • @JackRule16
    @JackRule16 6 років тому

    At 1:47 it is clear that the pass blocking efficiency is a result of the offense rather than the tackles talent alone, PFF needs to be able to adjust for this

    You can't tell me that the news of Donald Penn and VIDAL Alexander didn't force them into that 1st round pick. No STUDENT OF THE GAME can look at KOLTON MILLERS tape and say that he's a 1st round pick. He gets beat constantly with counter moves during pass rush and doesn't have a powerful punch. His run blocking is subpar too because his leg drive isn't dominant and his hand placement seems to be off against quicker defenders. The plus I can see in him is that he's athletic as fuck for a TACKLE and can get to the 2nd and 3rd level in a hurry. That still doesn't make me feel good knowing that the EDGE duo's of the AFC WEST, i.e Miller & Chubb, Bosa & Ingram, and even O.G. Hali and Houston...

    Everyone be hating on the raiders draft but in reality they got 2 starters right away in Colton Miller and mo hurst and grear depth guys in nick Nelson , Ardon key, and PJ hall I like this draft the only pick I didn’t like was the Brandon Parker pick over getting a guy like malik Jefferson that was on the board

    I'm not a big fan of Miller...but I can see why they drafted him because he does have alot of upside to his game if he's coached right....that's where my problem is at. idk what gruden See's in Tom cable. he wasn't good last time he was with us and he was horrible at Seattle. if u look at the Seahawks draft picks when it comes to the offensive line some of those guys were high picks and came from good college teams and Tom cable didn't coach up not one of them. hell anlyst we're calling the picks bust cause Cable couldn't coach them up. to me that is the problem....it's not the pick of Miller or Parker...it's the coach responsible to coach them up. Tom Cable is a bum and I pray that gruden fires the bum soon.

    The second raider draft pick you guys talk about is PJ Hall. You guys act like you know something about football and you sit there and talk about your amazing analysis of every player. You even said you analyzed every rep he took in Senior bowl week, yada, yada. And you said he was a terrible offensive tackle and even mentioned that he had 5 QB pressures in thirty six snaps.
    That's really good. You just make this crap up. Know how I know? Because PJ Hall is a DEFENSIVE TACKLE not an offensive tackle. And don't act like you just mispoke. You even mentioned how in your amazing guide you gave him a crap grade because of all the pressures. (4:18 to 5:30 or so is your discussion of this "offensive tackle")
    That's funny. You guys are the biggest phonies.

    Very nice analysis's of the Oakland Raiders draft. Of course if you're drafting for Fantasy football. However, If we're talking about reality football then none of you clowns knows what the h*** you're talking about because you're missing the most important element of the game. Now I could teach you, BUT, I'd have TO charge... You're Stats guys hence, you KNOW bubkis...
    If you truly were knowledgeable in John Grudens Ability's you would know what I'm talking about too...

    1998 offence.. I tell ya you clowns are fools. Anyone can read stats. How you'd get this gig... You forgot the biggest aquisition, this one's free... The Miller pik is worth 2. Because without it we don't get Bryant... Am I being too hard with you? Well, I don't have to. You're showing over 17000 views and barely 215 likes. I think you have a few issues there I mean I'm just saying...
