This was awesome! I wish I could do Knotts Haunt one year. And as for those who think the witch is "annoying" he/she's been doing it for quite a while and always got GREAT reviews. I even think The Green Witch has her own wiki page.
Actually, The Green Witch has always been a woman since 1973.

It was great back in that old location... I am sure the Hanging will be back and hopefully this year! You've seen some good ones since you've been going since 2014! I remember working there back in 1990, those were the days ;)

It's at Knott's Scary Farm in Buena Park, California... from last year :) This year, the Hanging is different... not sure if they are doing a witch again.

I heard that in the past Knott's did use to hang a witch until a Wicca group complained and had to stop. Knott's then started using Freddy Krueger until New Line sent them a seize and desist letter since Knott's wasn't paying New Line royalties for the use of their character. The last time Freddy was used was when the movie "Freddy vs Jason" came out.

That is correct. Same with Beetlejuice. They hung him in 1990 until copyrights got them.
Many people involved at the Haunt miss the sounds of the drums and hanging of the witch... so it is pretty cool that they are doing this at midnight now.
I miss the Freddy Kruger Hangings. Curse you New Line with your Legal Cease and Desist Legal Team!!!!
