Life Progress - a community for introverts People are jealous and immature fools and I don’t want to be frustrated with that issue, but I’ll take the blue pill because the red pill is just insulting.
I'm an infj and I've noticed the same thing. For a long period of my life i would adjust to that when talking to people, because i could see how it brought peace. After getting fucked over a numerous amount of times. I finally said fuck it and stopped catering to their ego, went against my old ways and just started telling blunt truths. Much better this way if I'm being honest
INFP here. I usually find a path downwards so that they understand, that I understand them, and I am them. When a connection happens, they will spill a huge load on me about everything. With this information, I pretend that I am them and manipulate their mind set in a way that they agree. What they do not know is I am bending their ideals into mine silently. *I am doing this for their own good of course :)*
This is why I use the Socratic method to persuade people when I give advice. Ask them questions that allow them to see the logical inconsistency in whatever their conclusion is, then ask questions that lead them to the answer you wanted to say from the beginning. This way they feel they've arrived at the answer themselves. If they are having issues in a relationship, for example, ask them how they feel. What is causing those feelings. What they want in their relationship, then what changes could they make to achieve their wants. Instead of saying "You need to confront your SO and blah blah blah or else x will happen."
that is actually what I do and it works most of the time, but with some people it gets really frustrating because they give wrong answers even to the most basic questions and I have to constantly correct them, but at least is easier to correct them about more basic questions because the logic/answer is easier to understand.
But it’s too stressful when you’re a Ti dom, they are at lvl 1 and you’re already at lvl 20 and then you have to dumb yourself down and mentally drain yourself just to come to their level. It’s so frustrating.
From my perspective, INTPs aren't the types to confront others and give advice, it's more something that's pushed on us by those around us, at which point it's not our fault when we give our honest opinions. I can't remember the last time I actually gave someone advice in an earnest way that wasn't provoked by them first. We shy away from leadership roles for a reason, whether that's because we're indifferent to such titles or we want people to exercise their own free will in life. There's also the added social barrier, where an INTP giving advice to another would mean building up the courage to actually speak to someone, which is a feat all its own. It's a lose-lose all around. If we initiate the conversation and give our advice, we're seen as a know it all or too aggressive in arguing our point, as it comes off as overconfidence and assurance. But if we're asked for advice, our honesty will fall back on us as we most likely won't agree with the other person's viewpoint and even if we tried to disagree respectfully, it could unintentionally come off as cold and rude. This whole "talking" thing isn't our best strength.
I 100% ageee ISTPs are more likely to do so after getting frustrated. INTPs seem to avoid steeping on toes because they are in fairly perceptive and understand people, so they actively try and avoid stepping on toes. I’m an ISTP and have this same problem.
That is one of the most accurate INTP videos for me. It was nice to hear my thought process been brought to life through your speech of how to actually effectively influence and help people, rather than simply feed your ego of being the Smartest in the room (which leaves you alone and despised). Thank you for the video, they do help.
I love when I lead people to solutions and then they think it was their idea. Especially at work, when they take credit for my ideas. So awesome. What a blessing.
I think this advice works better for emotional and personal issues. For example: Stupid person: "My wife never helps with household chores" What an INTP wants to say: "Your wife just drove you to the doctor, I see her working in your garden latest 3 times a week and you don't even know how to clean a bathroom but your bathroom is always clean." What actually works: "Oh hey why do you feel this way? Doesn't your wife do all the garden work?" Don't let anyone step on you at work. When a person steals your idea ones, don't help them again.Let them run into and open knife and save the day with your ideas. This is just a thought and very simplified examples
@@draxthemsklonst Perfect analogy! A while back a friend and I were discussing politics and he confessed he'd considered being a politician and asked if I would ever join him should he make that career move. My reply: "Probably not, but I would gladly support you and be there for you should you ever ask for my input." Politics and being in the spotlight is simply too much for this INTP.
INTP here, this was an excellent video and it makes a lot of sense. That being said, neckbeard and fedora mode activated. I'm not here to coddle people's fragile ego and let them think they came up with the answer on their own. Take my advice, give me my credit for figuring it out and thank me. Or don't, ruin your life and learn the hard way ✌ (P.S. I probably will end up implementing this approach somehow. I'm just a little salty because this happened to me very recently lol)
Said like a genuine INTP lol. "Listen you plebs, because I've already thought this through from 1000 possiblities and have arrived at the best conclusion, or don't and learn by natural consequence....I'm sorry that was rude no hard feelings" lol Ti all the way up until little Fe comes on out and goes "wait that might have disrupted the harmony of the tribe and offended someone. Apologize now!" Hahahaha
Babying people gives me the cringes. It's as you said...you start to notice that they get dependent on you. At that point, I switch to 'teach you to fish' mode, which tends to be me being quite blunt. I'll try to apply to tactic of asking questions and using emotions to let them figure things out on their own.
Yeah...I realize that I'm hella salty about this too. 'Do you how know many cycles of brainpower I used to come up with this great, sound advice for you???' And I've found that asking them questions to get them to think for themselves doesn't work either. But I know there are gaps in my emotional intelligence so I'll be taking the advice given in the video too!
If there’s one thing the INTP can’t stand it’s ego power trips. Yes, they’ll be stubborn and refuse to cajole, cater to and otherwise baby someone who can only see things through the eyes of their self-referential ego. INTPs are about something larger than the ego that is stuck in group think. Their tactlessness definitely can bother some people but mostly feelers-not so much the thinkers. Though, there as well, many thinkers can’t think outside their own boxes. INTPs are free to go anywhere, a freedom they will never sacrifice.
I think it's quite ironic to see INTP's posting about 'self referential egos', when they themselves are some of the most melodramatic and ego-obsessed creatures in existence.
@Dan Gingerich this 100%. Although I don't hate seeing the train coming. I hate not being able to get other people to see it. At the very least I can still avoid the train in my own life a decent amount of the time lol
Bill Birkett I do not see melodrama at all in the INTP. Yes they have egos but the difference is that they can happily deconstruct their ego in front of theirs and other’s eyes. The love of knowledge is key here, even though they can take pride in that just as others might take pride in other skills. Perhaps you’re thinking of another type because INTPs don’t really care much about what others think, they’re too busy working out models in their own head.
@Dan Gingerich It's not of my business. But I keep seeing patterns, so... Look, people are idiots and stupid people will do stupid thing (everyone is an idiot btw, but some people are just half idiots, most are complete). You are insecure. You keep seeing and mesuring yourself by others opinions or possible reactions about you. Don't. Since we always come out as arrogants anyways even in our best intentions, find out who you are (your opinions about yourself) and own it! Even if others see you in a bad way, you don't have to do the same, INTPs aren't made to be diplomats and politicians
@@billbirkett7166 "free to go anywhere"...that's hilarious. Yeah, anywhere except in someone else's shoes. I can think of a few places that wont have them...like all the people who they've crossed and I'm not a feeler, so he's inaccurate too. (Intj) pretty much intp nemesis. I 'think' they're ok most of the time except for the lack of moral character and/or empathy.
Thanks for this! So much to think about! Just the other day I was thinking about this and concluded that most people have the Not Invented Here Syndrome. I've often tried asking questions of individuals to get them to think, but it never seems to get anywhere, and I eventually lose my patience and go blunt. I'll have to learn to apply some empathy and sympathy to these situations, but I must admit that it's quite difficult to do so during a real-time conversation, because these traits aren't the strongest when you're in logic mode.
Thank you Erik. Your analysis really helps. I am an INTP trying to be a leader of people and teams. I will try harder to suggest logic rather than dictate it.
Yes, I like the idea of practicing giving people a more pros & cons insight into something & letting them make the choice for themselves. I definitely resonate w/ considering putting in the exhausting effort to practice tact & providing emotional comfort w/ people in certain situations in order to have them be receptive to advice.
You can still share the video but it will be up to people to decide whether they wanna watch it or not. Most will have no clue what you're talking about anyway. You've made this video for a specific group of people and here we are. Not many yes I know, however, we thank you. :)
You make such a great point about influencing people's opinions/decisions - that to give advice EFFECTIVELY, we need to help the recipient(s) incept the idea through their own logic. I learned a feedback framework as a manager at Abercrombie eons ago that I engrained broadly into my communication style. This has been crucial to my career success and strong interpersonal relationships (as someone who tests INTP).
That's actually true. Because people want to feel comfy and they can't accept the truth because it would be a slap on their faces. It actually hurts when people don't listen and won't take our ideas seriously which makes is question ourselves and it sucks. We were labeled as the logician but tge people around us makes us feel were not
Assuming you are the smartest person in the room is not logical ( when the occupants are not especially known to you). Learning the basics of human psychology is logical if you want the best possible outcome for yourself and those you care about. Depending on the goals you seek, an INTP might even research how to dress and interact appropriately for a given setting or occasion! Looks and behavior are often learned, not instinctive 😉🧐 Also, I want to strongly dispute some of the assumptions put forth in the comments by other types...INTPs are capable of loving deeply and intensely, they just aren’t going to let you into their private passions! I love my family as much or more then many of the people shouting it from rooftops and splashing it all over social media!
Thanks for this comment. Videos about INTP need to stop feeding into the arrogance of INTP who think that they are the smartest people in the room while the rest are just mindless sheep.
He knows how much my brain needs problem solving!!! I don't care about working out the sharing video problem, but the gesture was so appreciated! That meant a lot to my poor, often-times starved for problem solving brain...
I learned this the hard way lol. My gf (INFP) would have issues that I would solve for her on a regular basis, however the problem that arose was that she began to devalue her own thought processes due to not being able to logically explain and defend her ideals, which naturally as you all versed in functions understand is not an INFPs strong suit. This caused a lot of psychological stress, and also manifested as a subconscious distaste with the idea of telling me anything. To cut this long story short this was one of the tactics I used to remedy some of these issues, offering knowledge in a way that she can use to form HER OWN thoughts rather then doing that for her.
Great video! As an ENTP, I'd love it if I became the person that people constantly go to for advice. Really glad you explained this. Agree entirely. People rarely go to others for advice. They go for others for validation of their own ideas or assumptions. Noone wants to have their life views challenged dramatically
Some people (SJs) do need that kind of hand holding before they can trust the theory, and they do take the most energy and time. Other types (NJs and SPs) don't need the hand holding, so I can just take alternative points of views and bounce things off of each other. NPs are NPs, and we can respect each other's pov with ease.
Thanks so much for your video. I was struggling to know if i am an entp or intp. Anyway I happen to jump into this video. I always think too rational when people come to me to chat and what they want is just a comfort or agreement from me or instead of a rational solution. This pissed me off a lot before in my deep heart. I did complain this fact to some close friends. About which pill to take, empathy would help me I guess. In all, thanks a lot for your videos. Your introspective ability is awesome and stay strong bro!
I sometimes like making people solve their own problems. I don’t tell them what they’re doing wrong and I don’t give out the answer. I force them to think about it in parallels. “What if?” Is a very lethal question to ask when it comes to advising because I at least know enough about people. People are selfish, arrogant, thoughtless, and lack empathy. So I help them fix the shattered mirror that contributes to their lack of reasoning and problem solving skills. It’s never A-B there are many unknown variables in between just waiting to be discovered. I love to find things. It makes me happy.
Ive discovered that people won't take advice unless you say it in the way they want to hear it. 90% of the time they don't want a bulleted list of how to improve when its in the moment. They just want to feel better. The emotional aspect is more important than the logical aspect.
Blue or red pill which ever = truth, nothing else is real. This is so true, when you are nice, people listen better. Patience is key too. Sometimes people just want the answer but I want to explain all the background to bring them to my conclusion. I feel very unheard and devalued with people who only want the quick answer.
Let's say my chosen subject is good, safe, driving excellence in theoretical knowledge only. Lots of people drive but who really wants to be told the right and proper way to drive? Most people have a general idea of how they should drive but can't actually be bothered to do it. So they certainly don't want someone telling them the perfect or optimal way to drive. For me the real choice is priority, which is more important to me? Either having people spew their off the cuff opinions over my years of research, or just shut the door and enjoy the freedom I have to totally indulge myself in my research. And who knows, one day, I might actually come up with something someone else wants to know!
I experienced a kind of 'none in my mental league :(' depression. Even when gave out nice ideas and inspiration stuff it was like none really told me the he she appreciated it, I mean that is like a cycle intps not directly need to be appreciated to feel usefull but we like to solve problems and one off the world problems is unthankfullness. Thanks for you video in this sence you solve my problem that I'm sometimes like do this or that --> problem solved. Now I'm now more likely to talk about my own struggle, implement this knowledge into stories, show more empathy, show that I know people and do not want the people to get me wrong or hurt them. I now understand why I thought like wait, I mean I gave this struggeling people the correct answer why is he/she now like it was nothing, because I guess the tone and tune make the music and not the text or info.
If I explain the truth using objective evidence and sound reasoning, my job is done. If my audience refuses to understand, that's their problem, not my problem.
Its funny when you mentioned about robots, cuz for some reason other personality types treat us as one (im into myself as well) and I can kinda agree on that one xD.
When my neighbours come to ask me mathematics i allways spend more time then when others tell them the solution but they never come again... Why? The don't have to ..I can spend the whole day teaching them logic in a way they could understand i wonder why nobody did this but now i Understand I am an INTP And i never follow people I'm just bad at it since they make decisions too quickly So the soln to Education could be to just teach people to think.. 😂🤣
I don't see you going around telling ESFJs, "don't be popular, let INTPs be popular." Of course other types can be right, but tell why you are right, not "oh, you think you are always right?" Maybe that comes from you valuing being right too much and your own insecurity. Maybe it's time to admit that perhaps INTPs are usually more right than you because what they do is think all the time. Enough with this passive aggressive nonsense.
Any other INTPS find that your ability to persuade or convince people to do things never works but your ability to instigate issues and conflict seems second to none? Try it out INTPs it’s a rather interesting skill.
I do like helping my friends and family with problem solving, but its not forced, if it ever becomes forced im not afraid to say "i dont know" or try to teach them how to think for themselves, but i dont think it will ever get that far.
Very good advice. ISTPs struggle with exactly this too 😂 Smfh. I love my INTP cousins. Don’t worry; we value their intelligence, talent and creativity.
you really nailed this in my opinion - at least one INTP i know highly approves. the need to teach people to fish rather than hand them a plate of cod has not gone unnoticed. i think many INFPs like myself can identify with it too - i call it ”planting seeds” as opposed to ”giving advice”. people need to be guided towards their own truth and really own it for themselves in order to anchor it. and INxPs can act as guides on that journey. way too many metaphors but i think you get the picture!
When you are right about something, it does not matter what other people think. Sure, they may become upset, maybe even try to ruin another persons life. But, it's usually worth it.
after thanksgiving my mom asked me how she could lose weight (i recently lost about 30 pounds). i took her on a frickin journey of all the different methods she could use to lose weight and then ended it all with some extremely basic and simple terms to follow. Such as "eating less will result in weight loss no matter what you do" and that she just has to be Consistent(tm.). She acted pumped and ready to start losing weight! ......Literally the next day i catch her binging tacobell to the face. This is the life of an INTP
Is true for me as well, an INTJ and now I'm thinking possibly for almost everyone. People hit me up for advice constantly and take it but Parents dont listen regardless of how smart or successful you are.
@@carodame9419 lol im not a perfect human being, i mess up all the time. however, if i tell people im going to do something, especially if it means a lot to me, you can put money down that ill do that thing or literally die trying. I take my own advice in levels of priorities for the moment.. In this case, the high priority for my mother was losing weight. Unfortunately, people generally don't like being told the solution to their problems. They would rather completely ignore the advice of others until they feel like they have come up with the solution themselves. so therefore she instantly, within at least 12 hours of the conversation, decided not to listen to the advice she was so adamant about following.
Blue pill. All day. Every day. Sincerely don't care. 👍✨ I get asked about many things in my personal life and in my professional life, if they don't listen my favorite phrase is when they come running back is "yeah, I knew. I said so."
Most of the time, people are seeking approval, not opinion or truth. And it gets worse and worse with our society of "I'm the one looking the best !" contest. When an INTP seek approval for a truth, it's usually from at least 2 sources and from known competent people. In my case ( me be INTP ), I have the "fear to be an impostor". Don't know for other INTP... But it's a very big drive for any of my research an skill learning. It used to not be that prevalent, but the older I get the stronger the feeling is.
Just listen till the end- and guide them little by little down your logic tree, when they push back, you fall back. You have to fight your over explaining habits and show patience. It’s not full proof but now you won’t hurt your own feelings
Depends on who's sharing the video for how many shares it would take. Plus not all corners of the world have access to the UA-cams. Its an illogical question but its interesting.
Once there was a friend of my sister who got in a “fight” with his brother. The fight was through messages. The situation was tricky since it was a family matter, none of them was completely in the right. So I said he should write a thing back since it would be a small admittance of guilt, but also a good defense (also a good offense). If the fight would have escalated the family would try to be neutral. Because every would be on the defensive if that happen the family would be arguing more at his side since his brother will be on the offensive. He didn’t do it though.
(Note: i don't watch the matrix, some people said the pills are switched, so i'm basing the pills on this video) INTP here, I always live by the blue pill and will always take the blue pill. When I was in junior high, I can't comprehend the feeling of being wrong, Idc if people don't listen, it's frustrating ofc, but I will just laugh when they come back to me crying. Now i'm in high school and trying to 'learn' to be human and how to interact with others the correct way whilst taking the blue pill of always being the 'always right' (I still can't comprehend being wrong, but i'm doing better than before). People listen to me and get their problems solved. But now they're too dependent on me (at least for me, they are TOO dependent), and it's getting damn annoying.
You’re right, I just can’t do it. In clinical psychology you should never fix a patients problem, you should lead them to discover it themselves. Probably because when a goal in reached you get a dopamine reaction that rewards you. Someone fixing your problem doesn’t give the same reaction, you may even resent it.
I laugh at feelers when they cry over a break up cuz I knew it would happen Them laughing at me cuz I have to learn to give attention to help others’feelings, and not only draw for my knowledge. U learned me to use both pills! Life in 3D is better!
I have to work really hard on kindness part, usually I fail. Maybe they just want a hug and not an answer? I’d probably give them both if they just asked. Life sometimes seems like a series of nonsensical riddles within the parameters of nebulous rules.
You are on the right way when u already consider these things. It helps me to ask question who gives the other person options. (If someone is crying) "Do you need space or a hug?" I would never ask a question with "should I" though, like "should I leave you alone?" this makes people sometimes uncomfortable because they don't want to force you to anything. Anyway people who are close to you should also understand that this is hard for you and when they're being to judgemental they suck just as much with emotions as you.
as an INTP I should say people usually think I want to be smartest person or some say I have to be always right but that is simply not true. I think the reason they think that is because I back up my ideas with logic an the don't want to or can't argue with that.
"do you want people to call you at 3 am? do you want that? do you really want that??" - a broken infj who people have called at 3 am well do i want that? i guess not. first of all, imagine being an intp and having to turn on Fe at 3am. i don't know that i could. i'd probably put my foot in my mouth. but yeah i've been in that problem solver position before, and i find that it's all about boundaries. yeah, sometimes i didn't set good boundaries and ended up drained, ultimately pushing the person away. but... actually nope i'm still bad at that. oh well.
Advice for INTP's. We're so naturally reclusive so reclusive in fact, we remove ourselves from any social interactions at all. Fine, this is who we are and that's fine. The mistake I think we sometimes make is in social functions like at work. We feel interested to help others with our ideas. Just remember these people think way less often of us than we do of them if, in fact, they ever think about us at all. What's the natural conclusion here? It's better to also remove yourself from our co-workers. I've always hated it, but the old adage of "Not to speak till spoken to." is a tenet we should abide by. Perhaps it's a negative behavior, living inside our own heads, but we'll all soon someday begin to realize that being disconnected is a reward in its own right. Sticking with your small group is the best of all advice. Otherwise treat all others with indifference. No, most people are not worth your time and no, they don't matter, nor does their opinion, nor does our opinion to them. It's much easier to be the observer. Chalk all social interactions as experiences we store inside our hard drive for our sociology thesis. I know most of us have an ideas notebook, put in there if you're not working on a thesis. Lastly, if you're are forced to talk to someone you're not close to, or feel so compelled to approach someone about a matter. Firstly, don't do it! What do we do best? We argue inside our own minds the best. It is better to argue inside our own heads first before we decide to take action. I think we should use this approach with people as well even at the cost of perfect timing. Let others approach you if possible is the best outcome in any social interaction. Don't accost people, be brief and to the point rather it is a joke you've been holding in, or a matter about work, we will fail at any type of small talk, so the less time the better.
Erik hi! Your way makes a lot of sense but it would require a triple analysis in order to have no credit for findind the solution... Look, find solution to "Impossible to solve" problems is the easy part, stress is always about how to deliver it in a way humans wont get pissed . So we often accept the outcome and say things as they cross our minds and if people will be kind enough to listen maybe they wont get hit by that car over there...
No matter what a person's problem is, my intial advice will consist of an impromptu, effortless, virtually seamless and irrefutable correlation/analogy based on completly unrelated experiences I've had within the last 48 hours, but ideally the example would come from a remarkably accurate transcript from a conversation I had earlier that same day and how that is exactly like something else I learned through an event from my childhood and how overcoming that obstacle ultimately made me th man I am today. If delivered effectively, it will undoubtedly establish credibility and prove they shouldn't be alarmed because obviously these things happen to all of us...
INTP's are mostly driven by logic, which is fine, but they tend to ignore the shadow part, the ego, primitive drives, jealousy, etc. all elements that are more important than reason itself for most people in real life... Ignoring your shadow is the best way to let it possess you, but INTP's are not equiped to dive straight into it. I'd say INTP is usually more on the autistic side than the narcisstic side of personality, which mean more intelligent, but sadly much less efficient, and that's why psychopaths and narcissists rule the world, while INTP's often live in their mom's basement, alone with their solutions for the world's problems, that nobody wants...
I hate to see the people around me struggling with their problems, but when I suggest a better way and they don't take my advice, then I just sit back and enjoy the show. It's not that I'm a know-it-all, I'm highly qualified and experienced. Sometimes I'm wrong, sometimes their stupid way works anyway. Sometimes they have a better idea than mine. But not usually.
I feel like another factor is lack of social proof with INTPs. Statistically, us INTPs are not high earners; our average salary is the lowest of all 16 types. Thats social proof that matters to people when it comes to listening for advice or wisdom. People put their faith in leaders that society deems "successful". By that standard, we probably seem like idiots for all they can tell.
Good Video! Just sharing it wouldn' be enough I guess... Gotta connect everyone to the internet first and get them to watch it 😅😀 Even the blind and the deaf 😅
To answer your question: 0 shares. Even if this video reached all corners and all the people in the world, there are still a great deal of people who are blind/deaf/in coma or in similar conditions who wouldn't be able to watch this video. so no point sharing. :) kidding. thanks for a great video!
It's funny. I've tried giving people the right answer and, as you said, it didn't work. But I've also tried to be "the advisor" and walk them through the logic process so they can find the right answer...guess what, it also didn't work. People don't ask for advice so they can get your perspective and your input, they just want you to tell them they are right, they want to reaffirm their own answer, even if it's wrong.
INFP here lmao. Rather than spitting the truth on their face, I rather detect their interest, manipulate the input I wanted to say so that it sounds like exactly what they want to do. I leave some holes here and there so they can figure it out themselves. Knowing and realizing are two different things. You can make them know, but realization comes from self discovery the person experienced. I merely manipulate their thoughts into the right direction and let them walk the path themselves.
I'd rather tell someone the solution then sit back and watch them fail because they won't listen than suck up to them to fix it. Besides I do like to say I told you so.
Before this video can be watched by every single person on the planet Eric needs to apply sub-titles in a few thousand languages. If each share went out to ten others, which then go out to ten others, after ten rounds of sharing the whole world will be aware of Erik. If each share went out to just one person that coverage would take 7.5 billion shares. The answer is therefore >10 to
Intp.... intj.......the architect etc. If you get all logic and thinkers reasoning personality traits together with the agreeable personality type will the intp etc just agree for a quiet life and waste their time? I for one will be the one to tell them I told you so.
It really sucks being a socially intelligent INTP because I see all of these stupid social constructs that we have as a society and just want to ignore all of them. Problem is, when I do that, people either think I'm socially stupid or just plain rude. While in reality, I just don't like the conformed expectations that society has created. What this video discusses is a perfect example. We are expected to tell this person what they want to hear, however INTPs feel that serves no purpose and isn't helpful. So we choose to be honest, no matter how insulting it may seem to them or how difficult the decision they should make is.
U have the colours mixed up. Red pill/blue pill analogy comes from the Matrix - red pill is seeing through the matrix - seeing the truth.. Love your channel...
INTP here. I don't think I am intelligent (so much to learn, so little time). Just some people are stupid and ignorant. If someone is stupid thats okay, they can learn. If they are ignorant thats the big problem.
Well, as I see it: P's more correct than J's because they see more options. People asking for advice: Stupid P, I know there are many options myself, just tell me what to do! T's more correct than F's because they put emotions back and may see you are wrong better than F's. People asking for advice: Stupid T, I asked help with that dude and you tell me it is I who is wrong. I's more correct than E's as their thinking is more independent. People asking for advice: Stupid I, everyone says it is not so. N's more correct than S's: they see the big picture and may ignore details. People asking for advice: Stupid N, I ask for help because I need help, not theory.
Blue pill or red pill?
I would snort that blue stuff all day.
blue but only because if im right i can make the right choices for people and myself
The color of my profile pic, ofc
Both, Just to see what happens.
Blue pill
blue pill all day
just because a majority of people agree, doesn't make it correct
Life Progress - a community for introverts People are jealous and immature fools and I don’t want to be frustrated with that issue, but I’ll take the blue pill because the red pill is just insulting.
Agreed. Truth is truth even if people refuse to believe it.
if everyone took the red pill then we would still be at stone age
I’ve found that people don’t tend to want real advice they usually just want their idea validated
This is SPOT on.
Yes, and saying INTPs are jerks because they tell the truth is so stupid... Lol
It'sNot Me! Wow that’s really good I may try it on my next victims I mean friends obviously
Yeah, but they killed Sokrates...
For example:
Stupid person: "My wife never helps with household chores"
What an INTP wants to say: "Your wife just drove you to the doctor, I see her working in your garden latest 3 times a week and you don't even know how to clean a bathroom but your bathroom is always clean."
What actually works: "Oh hey why do you feel this way? Doesn't your wife do all the garden work?"
Don't let anyone step on you at work. When a person steals your idea ones, don't help them again.Let them run into and open knife and save the day with your ideas.
This is just a thought and very simplified examples
While I've never wanted to be someone who follows another person, I've always felt I would make a great #2.
You described it perfectly. I also dont want to follow anybody, but I feel like I can do a good job at it.
A trusted advisor - a navigator, but without a spotlight on them, like the captain of the ship.
@@draxthemsklonst Perfect analogy! A while back a friend and I were discussing politics and he confessed he'd considered being a politician and asked if I would ever join him should he make that career move. My reply: "Probably not, but I would gladly support you and be there for you should you ever ask for my input."
Politics and being in the spotlight is simply too much for this INTP.
INTP here, this was an excellent video and it makes a lot of sense. That being said, neckbeard and fedora mode activated. I'm not here to coddle people's fragile ego and let them think they came up with the answer on their own. Take my advice, give me my credit for figuring it out and thank me. Or don't, ruin your life and learn the hard way ✌
That's fine! I also don't believe you should baby people too much, you don't have to be anyone's teacher if you don't want to.
In the voice of Bernie Mac “ if that’s the way it is !! then .. pay me goddammit !!’“
I've learned not to give advice at all and just let people fall on their ass. Smirk while they're not looking.
Oooooo thiiiissssssss one .. though when u see the collective asses falling all around it can look a lil 😳 along wid the 🤣
Thanks for this!
They gonna see logic ??
Yes, I like the idea of practicing giving people a more pros & cons insight into something & letting them make the choice for themselves. I definitely resonate w/ considering putting in the exhausting effort to practice tact & providing emotional comfort w/ people in certain situations in order to have them be receptive to advice.
It should be red pill for INTP, especially because Neo is regarded as an INTP
You're technically correct, the best kind of correct.
@@BulgrozTseNob Technically Correct is "The One" and only correct there is.
You can still share the video but it will be up to people to decide whether they wanna watch it or not. Most will have no clue what you're talking about anyway. You've made this video for a specific group of people and here we are. Not many yes I know, however, we thank you. :)
The choices given are inconsistent with the common meanings of the terms red and blue pill.
Haha yes, this annoyed me......as an Intp
Ajay Thiagarajan : yes this often happens....there are definite glitches in this simulation 🤫🖖
Agreed
You make such a great point about influencing people's opinions/decisions - that to give advice EFFECTIVELY, we need to help the recipient(s) incept the idea through their own logic. I learned a feedback framework as a manager at Abercrombie eons ago that I engrained broadly into my communication style. This has been crucial to my career success and strong interpersonal relationships (as someone who tests INTP).
Got it, thanks ! The robot analogy really helps.
That's actually true. Because people want to feel comfy and they can't accept the truth because it would be a slap on their faces.
It actually hurts when people don't listen and won't take our ideas seriously which makes is question ourselves and it sucks. We were labeled as the logician but tge people around us makes us feel were not
My goodness that was such a good video, I really understand INTPs much better now, thank you so much.
That meant a lot to my poor, often-times starved for problem solving brain...
if people took my shit seriously this world would be paradise already
People don't want to go through thinking it through either. So it doesn't really work either.
I hate being wrong more than I hate people not listening to my advice
LOL man this was hilarious!!!
*Puts on "I wont fix your computer" t-shirt -Fixes your computer anyway.*
Ive discovered that people won't take advice unless you say it in the way they want to hear it.
90% of the time they don't want a bulleted list of how to improve when its in the moment. They just want to feel better.
The emotional aspect is more important than the logical aspect.
IISTP. Here. That’s what’ so annoying asf when it comes to dealing with people. It’s so draining. Fully grown adults wanting to be babied Smh
Good job. As an INFJ you benefit INTPs like me in a Socionics beneficiary relationship.
Really awesome explanations... glad I found your channel!
Where does Eric Thor buy his pillows?
Its funny when you mentioned about robots, cuz for some reason other personality types treat us as one (im into myself as well) and I can kinda agree on that one xD.
This was good advise.
This is so hilarious, hearing my lives recap :D
When my neighbours come to ask me mathematics i allways spend more time then when others tell them the solution but they never come again... Why? The don't have to ..I can spend the whole day teaching them logic in a way they could understand i wonder why nobody did this but now i Understand I am an INTP
And i never follow people I'm just bad at it since they make decisions too quickly
So the soln to Education could be to just teach people to think.. 😂🤣
I don't see you going around telling ESFJs, "don't be popular, let INTPs be popular."
Of course other types can be right, but tell why you are right, not "oh, you think you are always right?" Maybe that comes from you valuing being right too much and your own insecurity. Maybe it's time to admit that perhaps INTPs are usually more right than you because what they do is think all the time. Enough with this passive aggressive nonsense.
@Altruistic Misanthrope is true for everybody? No?
Any other INTPS find that your ability to persuade or convince people to do things never works but your ability to instigate issues and conflict seems second to none? Try it out INTPs it’s a rather interesting skill.
I do like helping my friends and family with problem solving, but its not forced, if it ever becomes forced im not afraid to say "i dont know" or try to teach them how to think for themselves, but i dont think it will ever get that far.
Very good advice. ISTPs struggle with exactly this too 😂 Smfh. I love my INTP cousins. Don’t worry; we value their intelligence, talent and creativity.
The thing is that an intp’s life is a huge novel, but we have no one who can understand it
you really nailed this in my opinion - at least one INTP i know highly approves. the need to teach people to fish rather than hand them a plate of cod has not gone unnoticed. i think many INFPs like myself can identify with it too - i call it ”planting seeds” as opposed to ”giving advice”. people need to be guided towards their own truth and really own it for themselves in order to anchor it. and INxPs can act as guides on that journey. way too many metaphors but i think you get the picture!
Thats a great way of putting it!
I'm not an INTP but this video is tremendously helpful to me
for me as well
When you are right about something, it does not matter what other people think.
Sooo... you always follow your own advice? Never doing anything you know is not good for you?
Blue pill, and you just explained the difference between my good jobs and bad.
Blue pill. All day. Every day. Sincerely don't care. 👍✨
I get asked about many things in my personal life and in my professional life, if they don't listen my favorite phrase is when they come running back is "yeah, I knew.
I don't have to take the blue pill, I already live that every day.
"And if you're not capable of these things..." The way he says it, :'D What must he think of us??
Great video, helpful :)
I think we would need about 648 shares
(Note: i don't watch the matrix, some people said the pills are switched, so i'm basing the pills on this video)
INTP here, I always live by the blue pill and will always take the blue pill.
But now they're too dependent on me (at least for me, they are TOO dependent), and it's getting damn annoying.
it's so frustrating when you see the danger but everyone ignoring you and you get smash by it because of other...
You’re right, I just can’t do it. In clinical psychology you should never fix a patients problem, you should lead them to discover it themselves. Probably because when a goal in reached you get a dopamine reaction that rewards you. Someone fixing your problem doesn’t give the same reaction, you may even resent it.
I laugh at feelers when they cry over a break up cuz I knew it would happen
Them laughing at me cuz I have to learn to give attention to help others’feelings, and not only draw for my knowledge.
"do you want people to call you at 3 am? do you want that? do you really want that??" - a broken infj who people have called at 3 am
well do i want that? i guess not. first of all, imagine being an intp and having to turn on Fe at 3am. i don't know that i could. i'd probably put my foot in my mouth.
but yeah i've been in that problem solver position before, and i find that it's all about boundaries. yeah, sometimes i didn't set good boundaries and ended up drained, ultimately pushing the person away. but... actually nope i'm still bad at that.
The real question is how many shares to get every intp to see. Because not everyone on the planet is an intp
"Nothing good comes from lies."
I use reverse psychology when giving advice to some types, knowing they will do the opposite lol
Smfh very well said. I’m an ISTp and I wholeheartedly agree. We struggle with this too as Ti doms.
Blue pill is already my reality. So i'd keep it.
8 billion shares to reach everyone on earth
I would take the Blue pill, at least I know one person is right in the world

New to your channel. Asking myself why am I late here. Curious about your type though.
welcome over, i type as infj. :)
@@ErikThor Thanks! Nice to know btw.. I used to type as INFJ during my mentally unhealthy lifestyle.
Rambeling warning. When norwegians speak it sonds to me like they Are singing, thinking of Wales. INTP, Europe, denmark.
Why are you designating introverted intuition to the intp?
Before this video can be watched by every single person on the planet Eric needs to apply sub-titles in a few thousand languages. If each share went out to ten others, which then go out to ten others, after ten rounds of sharing the whole world will be aware of Erik. If each share went out to just one person that coverage would take 7.5 billion shares. The answer is therefore >10 to
Intp.... intj.......the architect etc. If you get all logic and thinkers reasoning personality traits together with the agreeable personality type will the intp etc just agree for a quiet life and waste their time? I for one will be the one to tell them I told you so.
We disagree the crap out of everyone. Agree ?
It's so right
Well, as I see it: P's more correct than J's because they see more options.
( I feel exposed )
I ate the blue pill a long time ago..
