In 1962 I was a freshman in HS. I had a friend whose father worked for Corporate Pontiac in Portland OR. One day he asked me to come see his dads new car. I rode my bike to his house and saw a bright red Grand prix in the driveway. It was a 2dr sport roof with 8 lug rims and narrow white stripped tires. It had a bucket seat interior in white with a 4 speed shifter on the floor. Under the hood was a 421 V8 with a Ram Jet Fuel injected intake. I couldn't believe how this car could be real , the my friend to me it was a COPO Which meant his father could order what he wanted. I have lusted for ;that car ever since. se

Absolutely, these old stories will pass with them if we don’t get them. I really appreciate the owner of this car who gets that and brings Lewis along as long as he can physically get out.
A guy I worked for in the mid 80's had bought a 421 out of a Catalina and put it in his 66 GTO with a tri power . Not sure if it was a super duty but it sure was super bad ass !
Great job and Channel from Virginia ❤ Jesus saves us all.🔥growed up my 70year old brother was a Junk Yard Street Racer in the late60s early 70s.👍 love the old dragers.🇺🇲
Yes sir I agree. It’s been back here in the area for a few years, I’d seen it before. But there was so much hype around the car you never could get it quite enough to get an interview until this year towards the end of the show. Really nice folks!!!
I bought a SD 421 in a junkyard in so cal , in 1970 for 500 bucks, big money back then, I put it in a 68 firebird, Muncie and 4.33 post, it went 11 flat on real street tires, L50 15

You and me both, I asked if it had ever been on the track since it was restored, the owner said no. Parts are to hard to come by and everything on it is OEM, with very limited exception.
Jim Endicott had a 62 SD Cat. Went to a 67 Z28 and then a 69 Chevelle. I crewed the 1969 for years until Jim passed away. That 62 SD Indian was quite a piece for it's day.
Yeah, sure it will pass a state emissions test.......and I love the "405 horsepower" badge on the hood--too bad the numbers are transposed (on purpose). This is a true super car; no ifs and or buts about it. The 1962 Pontiac Catalinas were pure swank with the muscle to back it up. Thanks for sharing.

Forgive my ignorance... But can't we 3D print stuff for these old cars to bring them back. I realize the answer to all questions is money... But is it feasible yet???
You can, but it won’t be original anymore. For some that’s not important, but for some it’s the only way they will restore a car. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Sure. The car has scored 993 out of 1000. But you’re gonna slide on my video as an “expert” and say the engine color is wrong?? LOL You’re funny. 😆 the car was meticulously restored over 25yrs to be all original, it’s one of the best restorations ever done.

So glad that this car has the perfect owner to show the love it deserves and to share it.
Definitely
These were also great road course cars when set up proper. Great body styling, smooth riding, & a quality build from Pontiac in stock form.
