I think people need a reality check. If you cant afford something dont mean the product is bad. If someone can afford a 4090, do you think they realy care about a cards power consumption. Some people are also into brands, it dont matter if for ex intel is the better choice or vice versa, you support that brand.

I bought a 4070Ti last month, and where i live a 3090 was going for 2500-3000$ when it was new. Performance vice these two cards are almost identical, so fuck the cheap people, i think its 1100$ well spent. Was a huge upgrade from my 2080Ti

LTT's job was to get a comment from AMD about the discrepancy, add it to the end of the review and publish when the embargo lifts. If they resend the sample and there's time, test that too and report both data points. Only AMD should should have any reason to be embarrassed

I think Intel's Thread Director and the telemetry is implemented on the CPU itself as microcode.
I mean...there isn't any hardware at fault here, because AMD chose not to implement it in hardware. It's not really important where the fault lies though, I just felt like poking some fun at AMD.

The only thing that I was interested in was the avx 512 for boosted performance in rpcs3. If I knew a way to be sure to get intel 12th gen that didn't have it disabled I would just get 12700k. I don't want to FAFO with the avx 512 on 12th gen intel. Is there a way to know what you get with 12th gen and not get the disabled one?

I found a 12th gen i7-12700K with AVX512. I enabled AVX512 because it supposedly boost perfomance on Switch emulators and i lost fps by losing the e-cores.
Probably people talking about AVX512 boosting RPCS3 emulation perfomance are full of sh*t.
The fps you get on the i7-12700K are explained by the beefy Golden Cove cores (still higher IPC than Zen 4).
The AVX512 Alder Lake chips must have the oval logo for AVX512. You need an MSI board too.

Not really you can overclock any intel chip to similar level of a 13900k if you only clock the p core
It's exactly like that, except with the 13900K(S) you can easily get *MUCH* better 0.1% lows and overall frame time stability, all without ever having to touch the overbloated adware that is Win11 (with my current, manually configured and de-bloated offline Win10 install, I even get lower average frame times than what people post with the same hardware on Win11).
Even if you disable CCD1 on the 7950X3D (leaving only CCD0 with the V-Cache), AMD has factory fused an FMax of 5.25GHz on CCD0, while the 7800X3D will have an FMax of only 5.0GHz.
So yes, you have to buy the 7950X3D if you want the best.
But even if you get the 7950X3D and disable CCD1, its aggressive downclocking means that you'll only see it running at 5+ GHz during light gaming loads.
The moment that a particularly 'heavy' frame comes around, the CPU always throttles back to somewhere around 4.5~4.8GHz and often also pauses that heavy thread to shuffle it onto a different core, all when you really need the extra performance.
This has the effect of further reducing frame times for already fast frames, while significantly increasing the frame times during high-load/stuttering events, exaggerating any frame time variance that already exists.
The *only* way to even get the CPU to stay at 5.25GHz on all (or anything more than 2) of the cores, for improved frame time consistency during gaming, is the following:
In the BIOS, Disable CCD1, SMT, *ALL* power-saving and dynamic voltage-frequency scaling settings (especially things like CPPC, CPPC Preferred Cores, C-States, AMD Cool and Quiet (PSS) and Power Supply Idle Control). I'd also strongly recommend that you disable vritualization, TPM, Secure Boot, SAM/ReBAR and all other security settings that cost performance.
Then set a static V-Core between 1.25~1.3V while lowering each core's PBO CO until they are all willing to boost above 5GHz.
If you're lucky, you might have a chip that can do 5.25GHz, otherwise you either need to either increase the voltage even more (going over 1.2V is unsafe and over 1.25 is actively dangerous for the SOI to SOI wafer bond they use for 3D-Stacking. They don't even want to guarantee 1.15V for long term stability and thus suggest a 1.1V limit...),
or you could massage the V-F curves to where every core can hit 5.1GHz (or worst case 5.0GHz) at

Its all Power plane related.. you remember ofc the kids playground game , with the balance pole? (Sorry Idk how its called).. when one kid is heavier from the side of the v-cache ccd; that there is a High Performance request, ..the power plane managment has to shift the weight to that side!..but also at the same time Drain it from the Light-Weight side.. its a balance game.. with given amounts of power you have to turn off or slow down parts of the chip to give a boost to the side that needs it.
But nobody said that Amd is doing a good managment of it/or they are good at it.
At any sitiuation they shouldn't put User through the phase of managment, their Chip should have a Proper one already built in already..

I have a 5800x3d and I don't get the AMDip......I have it on a -20mv undervolt and a nhd15s so it seems to work good. Granted I don't play Rust so I can't speak to that. For everything else it seems great to me. YMMV.

7950X3d slightly beating the 13900K here in his 12 game average. He simulated the 7800X3d by disabling 1 CCD and got a few percent more frames but not that much. How is the 7950X3d a scam and why are the number different?

All AMD CPUs are dog shit. Used nothing but AMD for the last few years and have had nothing but bugs, crashes, freezes etc. Even had 1 AMD CPU just die. It's time to replace my PCs now and I am about to replace them with Intel. Never had issues with Intel.
The 5900X is one of those special AMD CPUs that aren't bad and maybe the best chip they ever made.
It can lock the cores and the clockspeed is stable, watch any video of that chip in Rust, smooth AF.
By the way, i found games that can scale to 12 cores and the 5900X can beat the 5800X3D there, Jufles has to find those kind of games.

AMD makes good and bad products, and they are just as greedy as all the other companies. They are not your friend and the 7950X 3d is trash product made as a cash grab. That chip is being sold just to suck cash from your wallet. Buy the product line that performs the best at the budget you have. Intel, AMD, and Nvidia are all companies that exist to get your money. You owe no loyalty to them. Example is AMD makes the best GPU's at the lower end of gaming (keep an eye on Intel though) but Nvidia owns the top end with the 4090. Nvidia also own's content creation nothing else is even close.

I have a problem with them not posting the bad review. Avoiding posting a bad review is easily as deceptive as posting a positive fake review. "No comment" sounds a lot like "yeah I did it but don't want to admit it." I'm assuming this was nagging on Linus' conscience and that's why he made this video. Linus may be out of touch with the common PC enthusiast but I still think he's genuinely a decent guy.
It's especially egregious that AMD told him "working as intended" meaning his bad chip could have easily ended up in a customer's hands and AMD wouldn't RMA it like they're going to happily replace it for Linus. That makes me seriously question AMD's quality controls. Especially for a fucking $700 flagship CPU.
And that cost is the most glaring thing that makes me question all these reviews. All these clowns jerking AMD off while barely glancing over the fact it's roughly equivalent to a 13900k while being 28% more expensive. That easily covers the extra $50 you'll spend in ram and leave you enough for a 2tb NVME for free.

We PC consumers get scammed with incremental bullshit while paying 15% more each year for nearly the same tech which is refreshed. Al this while software developers become more lazy and use new render tech like Realtime lighting so they don't need to implement shadowing and lighting inside their games anymore eventually. Optimization is a flawed matter in nowadays desktop PC's. Just take a look how many dumb processes run in the background of a standard windows 10 desktop PC. Eating forever more increasing RAM from your system. Regular users have no clue and just keep buying stellar overclocking boards and CPU's just to hit more frames per second. What kind of bullshit we gotten ourselves into, is a damn mystery.
Do the new amd cpu stutter in windows media player, I had 5800x and 5900x and both stutter playing videos in windows media player, while my 11600k plays it just fine, os was win 11 in all systems

Anyone with a lick of common sense could read between the lines of all the initial reviews (including Gordon's) and understand that this was a half-baked product and, yes, a scam. Ordered a plain 7950X the moment I went through those reviews since I had a X670E motherboard waiting for the reviews to drop for the X3D.
