ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you'll join me in this UA-cam journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I've gathered throughout the years. I hope I can teach you some of what I know, help you discover your creative voice and I hope you enjoy this Channel!

I watch a fair number of watercolor UA-camrs, and inevitably, one of two things happens. The author burns out and says...I can't do this anymore. Or, the channel turn formulaic (and dull).
The answer is...do what makes *you* feel comfortable. We all appreciate your hard work and realistically can't pressure you to do more than you are able, or want to do. Once a month is good, twice a month is nice, too. Whatever you decide, we will be charmed when you decide to post. I would rather see you making videos that you enjoy, than have you post for the sake of posting.
I so wanted to send a message of support to Margot, but you have just said everything I wanted to say, Sglinert. So I will say “ditto”, and good for you, Margot!
I totally agree. I like your posts because they’re unique and unique to you. I don’t think anyone wants to see run-of-the-mill videos as many are so similar they blend together to the point they’re “all the same.” Your videos are special.
Couldn’t say it any better!! Having fun is what makes these videos so much fun to watch!
Quality over quantity, which is why I keep coming back. Most appreciated x
There’s a reason why I have been watching your channel and not Mako’s or Shayda’s anymore, and that’s because I love YOUR style of teaching even though I’m not into ballet! But I am into your sense of humor! 😂
I wish you joy in whatever you decide. ❤
Thank you for the gift of your time and your talents. Whether it’s once or twice monthly or once weekly, to give of yourself like you do is so generous and it’s very appreciated.
💗Margot, yay for doing YOU. Don't apologize for that. It's your passion and uniqueness that draws us to your channel (and to you, of course!) Whatever content you put out at whatever pace works for you is a treat and a privilege for us to receive.💗
I think you're very brave and you should follow what màkes you happy and shows that you care
I agree and admire you for the time and effort you take in providing these videos. I look forward to spending time watching you on a schedule that works for you.
Well said, Nancy. I agree completely.
True :)
There is so much value to your videos that they are worth waiting for! Stay sane, Margot! Happy New Year! Look forward to your next one!
Whatever you decide to do, I will be here. I find you entertaining, genuine, fun and talented. And being self taught I appreciate any art school information and help to find my passion. Thanks Margot.
When I saw the title of this video, I was like 'Gasp! She's leaving!'. After watching I was wiping forehead, phew! Margot, I have read the comments so far, we are all with you, you need to do what you need to do. Don't know how you manage it all as it is. You need to concentrate on your family and business. You are still going to be here, and that is great, don't apologise. It would be a shame if you wasn't getting pleasure if you felt 'forced' in a way to produce videos. You just do what suits you. We'll just be glad to see you when you can and not judge. xx
Hi Margo, thanks so much for your time and caring about your followers. As a 'newbie' I struggle with how and when to use the different techniques in my paintings to achieve a feeling or mood. So I love that you want to help us become unique and not a carbon copy. Looking forward to all your videos! Hugs from TX.
Whatever works for you. It's always fresh and new and I will always watch.
Yes you scared me…. I love your unique creative content. What ever you choose I will be there, if you push yourself your creativity will suffer. I’m 73 years young and self taught and always learning. Much love from NZ 🌟💜🍒
You scared me! I thought you were leaving. I have been following only a cpuple of weeks and absolutely love your creativity and your spunk! If you push yourself too hard and don't enjoy what you are doing then your creativity will suffer. Wise decision to slow it down. Happy you are staying !❤❤❤
Meee toooo! Phew!
Margot, do what you have to do, we are just GLAD to get whatever you can give!!! XO
Please stay unique. I’ve quit watching channels because they are too buy my stuff, do it this way, use this and on and on it goes. It becomes boring. I like art history and color swatching and mixing and painting so you keep that up, I’ll keep watching. Thanks for not being carbon copy boring
Margot, you have recognized the truth in your heart: you are an educator! And, as one of my past careers as a teacher, you are exceptional at guiding your (35K) followers on the path to discovering the artist within themselves. Well done! ❤
I already saw you as not just a tutorial channel. You set that stage long ago imo. We love your content keep following your heart on that. 😄
Dear Margot, you currently have over 30K subscribers 🥳🎉!!! This is your channel and take it in any direction you wish and post when you can. Your family and business comes first. Also, YT isn’t your bread and butter so IMHO I don’t think it should take so much time. YT should fit around your schedule and you also need downtime for yourself. ❤
Well said!
@@RumoHasIt 👍🤩
Margot, you are so good as a teacher that we all want you to be happy doing it. No one wants you to have burn out. Please be you and teach us any way or as often as you wish. I love your theory and technique courses both. I have never gone to art school so your classes on that are very interesting, i am only now learning about watercolor paints and find classes on the medium also interesting. You are one of the best teachers on UA-cam, so please continue to bless us with your talent.
Thank you for what you do, I'll continue to see what I can learn from you. Wherever we go!
Hello! In the beginning of this video you listed a few things that you had hoped this channel would become…and in fact, you have already achieved your entire list…you are informative, enjoyable, creative, encouraging and much more to so many of us. In fact I do NOT think at all that you are trying to create thousands of clones of yourself or of your art. In fact,. You seem to intentionally encourage us to explore our own paths. I’m not a person who often comments to video you tube stars…but I felt compelled to let you know that your viewers feel that you are achieving your goals and we are benefiting richly, whatever the frequency of video creation aligns with your life, we will be grateful. I do sincerely appreciate you and thank you for contributing to my art journey and my self confidence
You don’t need to apologise Margot 😊 we will watch your videos whenever you upload them. Life is tough enough without creating even more pressure for yourself. 😊
Oh good! I love that you are giving yourself permission to post a little less while playing a little more. I have adored your last few videos because of their humor and playfulness and can't wait to see what else you "cook up". I'd hug you if I could.🎉
Thanks for this chitchat 😊. As I tell all other UA-camrs, you do whatever suites you. Whatever you plan, we will always be here to watch your videos. I practically live on UA-cam, so I’ll definitely watch your videos 😂😂.
Love it! Authentic creativity like the content you provide cannot be rushed. I hope you know that you absolutely are a stand-out watercolour channel for not just jam-packed info but also FUN. Not quite sure how I came upon your channel as I am predominantly a portrait artist but I found you and I'm not leaving. Breath of fresh air. Thank you for your honesty and we'll be here for whatever is to come. Much love from Australia x
Your hard work and sound teaching is incalculably generous, and soooooooo many of your followers love every aspect of your videos, but you have to put yourself and family before anything else...
Those of us who are subscribed will get a message whenever you make a video, so you wont loose any of us, and it will be a real treat...
Wishing you well, and look forward to any of your videos, anytime ❤
I watch to a lot of art/watercolor channels, I'm subscribed to a few ones, and this one feels different from the others: I find it relaxing, inspiring and encouraging to be bolder, to be braver. I've never painted a single ballerina in life, but I just love to see you painting yours. Art is about freedom, so you must follow what makes you feel this way. Not a problem if a video takes longer to be published, in the end what matters is that everyone - specially you - feel inspired. Love your videos ❤
May i just say you have already helped me to not be a carbon copy of anyone but try to lean into my odd way of making art.. i am now reading up on art history because of you.. when you're ready we will be there to listen and watch. thank you for being you and doing these videos...
Hullo Margot, I hope you have even more success in your new direction for your channel! I believe that you can create a different way of imparting information and techniques for the creation of Art online. I believe that your viewers are rooting for you and your new direction! Thank you for sharing this update with us. I, along with your other subscribers will be watching! See ya next video!
As a life coach, I encourage my clients who begin to doubt their direction, that they focus on doing at least one thing that 1) gives you energy 2) brings you peace and 3) makes a difference. Having a YT channel is a tremendous amount of work (been there done that!) and I became personally dispassionate about it that I quit doing videos. I didn’t follow my own advice! 😫 I’m happy you’re doing your thing- and being a great teacher and making a difference… I’ve learned so much watching your tutorials!❤
Your direction and goals for your channel are wonderful. I've been trying to find my own stride and not be a copy of someone else. Thank you so much for this little chat and your wisdom.
We've really enjoyed this channel so far, and can't wait to see what's to come! There's a consistent excellence here- the research, presentation style, and original topics are just wonderful. Great channel, great community!
How awesome! Such a wonderfully positive message from Blick! Consistent excellence, it doesn't get better than that!
Congratulations, job well done, kudos well deserved 👍👍👍👏👏👏
I subscribed a few days ago. I have binge watched your videos. I want you to know how generous you are for sharing your knowledge and talent. I have already learned a lot and will be here until you stop. Doing what you do - life, children, husband, 2 jobs and You Tube- WOW. This is a gift from your heart and is very appreciated. Thank you so much!!
You are such a fantastic storyteller! These videos of yours are informative, fun & original 👏🏼
I love where you've been and where you're going with your art channel. I've always been a non-conformist. I learn techniques and watch the painting process, then do something else..change colors, subject, etc. It makes the end product mine. ❤
You are so charming and entertaining. Follow your heart and don’t push to being overwhelmed.
I totally support you on this! I was never a fan of paint-by-numbers content. I want to learn from other artists, but I want to still be me. You are a storyteller and this is your platform, so do what makes your heart sing. Your subscribers would see that joy and will still follow you. ❤
Margot, your video was right on! I’ve said before that as an aging student of Art, you bring joy and humor into learning. Thank you for always sharing, your beliefs and family and expertise. Karen Dirmish, learner
I wondered how you managed such great content while juggling a career and family. Your tips and lessons have been most inspiring and I am grateful that you are continuing to teach but at your pace. God bless you!
I appreciate you and remember, you grew as an artist to find your style in watercolor. You grew to become the leader of your design firms. Now, you are growing as a UA-cam creator. None of these have been overnight. Hard work, dedication, and quality is what got you to where you are in everything you do. Your quality is top notch and if you need the time to keep that quality those of us who love you and love how you do it....we will be here because of YOU!!! Be creative, find your groove, and keep us along for the journey! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
You do what's best for you. We'll be here. Thanks for sharing.
Don't apologize. I'm just so grateful for the time you dedicate to educating artists like myself who sometimes lack confidence. Take care of yourself and your family first. We'll be here waiting for you.
Sounds good Margot! Contents that are fun for you and us 😊Margot you have always been doing quality stuff and really enjoy your content and thanks for being so generous and serious about sharing your knowledge and experience. And it’s also important that you are able to balance all the life stuff. (Maybe you can just do short videos if you are too busy to take the pressure off) Follow your passion !!!Thanks for being so honest and sincere! Just want to let you know that I really appreciate and enjoy your channel and please look after and take care of yourself which is the most important part ❤❤❤❤ big hugs ! 😊
That's a good sign of a teacher! Yes! I look forward to future videos by you,
You are a delight! Thank you for your goals and desire to help your followers.
I just found your channel a couple of months ago and love it so much. I’m a beginner to watercolor and you calm my anxiety in my attempts at watercolor art. Thank you for whatever you’re able to give us. And I love your chats and humor ❤
You're a beautiful soul. I'm a recent subscriber and love your passion for art. If I go through withdrawals I have a huge library to catch up with. I'm glad that you do you. Being happy is fundamental to creativity. ❤
I would rather have one good tutorial than three empty, senseless tutorials.
I admire you for all your hard work, bringing us well- informed videos. Your videos are quite unique, and personally I'm tired of the same old stuff.
You are different, and I love the way you use some humor and put your own special personality into each video. I'm
lm looking forward to a fun filled future!!!🩷🖌xx
Margot, hello from France which is now totally absorbed in the rugby World Cup! But I picked up my Gouash paints yesterday and have been totally absorbed in your channel for the last couple of months too! I am a returner to art after 35 years having done nothing but always look at nature,I’m actually a biologist, teacher too, and think I must paint this! So here I am. you are so inspiring and have a delightful persona and you make it feel doable again. Post when it feels good for you and not something you feel you have to do. It has to be a Joy for you too😊. You are so real and I am going to invest in water colours too! I must look at your recommendations for a beginner! Have a great day, Bon Journée as they say here !
I have JUST found you and I can tell you that you being you is why I am sticking around! The few videos I have watched so far, as I dive back into my art, have kept me glued, and in love with your content and just how you speak to all of us. So, as most are saying, you do you and I'm sure not many will be going anywhere! And thanks for being you. ❤
I love your channel - it's informative, fun and elegant. And all that takes time and tons of work, so I'm not surprised that it's time to change gear a bit. Restock your creative well and keep it a joyful experience for yourself
Quality is preferred over quantity. Don't burn out trying to do videos just to post videos. Your videos are fun and creative. If you only do one a month, we will watch. 😊😊😊
Thank you for respecting your subscribers and having the conversation! Most of us do see that so much time and energy go into these videos (although probably not to the full extent it takes!) The truth is, if it isn't right for one person (you ;-) then it isn't right for anyone else either. I love your style and recognize it's not mine, but I have incorporated some of your techniques into my slipshod manner and hope to continue improving. Have recently started subscribing and will look forward to where your journey takes us all. You take care of you & your family!
However often you end up posting, we will be here. Your art and videos are so inspiring and different from what every one else is doing. Love every minute of it! ♥
I love listening to you and watching your videos. I'm just beginning in watercolor and you are always so interesting. I will miss seeing you more often but I am aware of the time it takes for you to create all the wonderful content you share and also keeping up with social media platforms.... Plus, of course, your website!
But.... As my granddaughter told me one time.... You do you boo 😂
We will always be there!!
Oh yeah, you do you! And I will learn to be me with the help and information that you offered. Your videos are almost like a meditation for me. I'm not able to do you. I don't have the skills. And yet you offer me so much to develop my own style. It seems as though you're already doing what you just clarified that you want to do. Blessings and appreciation.
Thank you for the exceptional videos that you have already made and for those that you will make in the future. They are a gold mine of information filled with both practical information about techniques and fascinating bits of history and biography presented with your inimitable charm and wit. I enjoy each one, while appreciating your high "production values" and the effort required to produce each video. They are elegant. As you say, videography is an art in itself, and a glimpse behind the scenes shows all the hidden work you have done. If you have been using Adobe Premiere Pro to edit your videos, let me extend my deepest sympathies. 😅
Speaking as someone that just discovered you and your channel, hooray for doing what you want to do! I learned at a very young age, that change is good, and change is healthy. It’s not changing that is one’s best indicator of not living healthy in all aspects of one’s life. Grasp that brass ring and follow your heart! You have my heartfelt support and gratitude 💜✨
I’m quite new to your channel and I am binge watching your past vlogs. You are unique, funny, stylish, talented so please don’t give up all together. Please just post as often as you can twice a month sounds great, or however often fits in with your life. Look after yourself and please do whatever is best for you. xxxx
Margot, a while back I was writing twice a week on my blog of 8 years and thought if I relaxed my schedule (rather than posting like clockwork on Tuesdays and Fridays) I'd lose momentum and readership would dwindle. To the contrary, engagement went up and with a new-freedom I ended up posting about the same number of times monthly in a spirit not of obligation but one of fun. So I applaud your decision and look forward to continuing to learn from a master teacher (you!).
Margot, this was very much appreciated, as are YOU!!
Your channel stands out because of your unique poised and polished style, not to mention your wonderful sense of humour, brilliant teaching skills and BEAUTIFUL art.
Thank you for the joy you bring to us as we explore the fun that is watercolour 🤗👏❤️🇨🇦
I will be happy with what ever you can do, just thank you for doing it❤
Please be you. That’s why we watch and enjoy.
I love the style of your videos. I don't mind waiting a bit longer for them, I really don't. You should feel happy and comfortable with everything you put out. We'll be here to enjoy what you have for us. 😊
Second! 😊. I’m for everything you’re saying. I want to learn from your beautiful work, but you got it, I really want to learn other styles that you have to offer. You’re an amazing artist and your videos are fun. Great job! ❤
My dear girl, please do not apologize for being yourself. You give so much already. Please engage in life/work balance. You have lots of years ahead of you!
The content you’re creating I feel like you’re already there it’s amazing. I really enjoy learning from you and having fun at the same time. If you’re wanting to take it even further, I can only imagine how much more amazing it could be if that’s even
Dear Margot, as a begginer and having started recently, i value all your videos...
As artists, creative individuals, we will change, evolve, and not have to keep up for the sake of algorithms..
Its a huge service you provide to us, who are looking for pure inspiration and guidance..
Your videos will always be welcome for me and for all those who love listening to you and watching you... never mind how often you post...
You have so right! Don't apologize!💙
The most important thing is to be true to yourself and you shouldn't apologize to us for whatever course you decide for your channel. I enjoy your videos partly because they're fun to watch and I'm ok with having two videos in a month instead of one every week. This way you'll have more energy and time to get more ideas and we'll enjoy your videos even more (by the way, I like the direction that you decided to head for). Keep doing what you're doing, in the way that you want to do it, and let the rest of us enjoy! Have fun!
Hi Margot, I'm rather new to your channel and really appreciate it. I think it is so important for all the UA-cam teachers to maintain their artistic health and to make production schedule/content changes that will keep the joy in their work. Thank you for the tremendous gifts you bring to your subscribers - your skills, confidence building, and your warmth.
Margot! I think that the best thing about artist channels is the result in each video, not how often they publish them, at least I don't pay attention to that, and I don't have time to exercise with each video of the artists I follow either. So if they are more sporadic, I think it would be better because it would give us time to see them all. Too much information is too much for everyone I think, you and us. PS the videl of the watercolors of your 40s was incredible!!!! I'm already saving to buy them hahahaha. Bear hug 🐻 Flor from Buenos Aires, Argentina
This video brings me joy, for I believe you have just stepped into a brighter, more pure light of life!!!
Congratulations!!
I love your current style of videos - they are both entertaining and inspiring!! ❤ I know UA-camrs are always concerned about their posting schedule, probably because of “the algorithm”, but for me it’s more important to see great videos less often then someone firing them out without much thought behind them… I also wished I could opt out of notifications about shorts - it’s so disappointing thinking someone has posted a video and then it’s just a silly short 😢
I LOVE the new plan. I’m breaking away from the “paint like me” stuff and trying to create my own work. I love the fact that you’re moving in this new direction. 🎉
Your channel, your time. I will enjoy what you have time to have to give. Thank you for all you do. You are an amazing artist!
Take care of yourself, your health. I’m a new viewer but I’ll be happy for whatever you produce. PEACE!
Margot you're a breath of fresh air on ArtTube so I'll happily wait as long as it takes to get high quality content from you! You're unique, original, you entertain as well as educate and you do this without expecting or asking for any reward from the viewers who see your videos. You do you, because your you, and the content you create, inspires me!
This is my first time on your site. I spent most of the afternoon watching because your personality is so infectious and cheers an old soul up and I am a watercolour painter. I learned I should not throw out my M Graham paints and will try putting them in the frig and maybe I can use them. Your talk today made this old teacher think of a children’s song I haven’t thought of for years. It called
“ So let the sun shine in. Face it with a grin. Etc 1970s song
Ms. Hallac, what you touched on is exactly where I'm at in my art journey. I'm looking for technique, inspiration, and challenge. I love your videos and am confident they will continue to be excellent. Thank you for taking the time to share your gift with us.
I love how you teach and communicate. Your channel has inspired and encouraged me to be courageous and find my own way !! Thank u so much for being the way you are ❤
❤ The best youtuber. Dont get how you have managed to post one video a week so far. I have a toddler and dont even find time to paint 😅
You're so cute explaining yourself. I just found your channel, love your artwork, but you MADE me feel like you are doing just what you are striving for; giving us a dose of inspiration to help us enhance our individual creativity. I can tell how hard you work with your videos. Excellent work and bravo to your family for supporting you. 💙🧡💙
Oh yes! Making videos is a lot of work but is also fun… I started my channel to see my progress and maybe get others to do art too…I’m glad and very grateful to my 100+ subscribers…even if is not a big number, for me it means someone out there likes what I do 😊❤ good luck with everything you’re doing ❤
your channel's growth is so impressive, the quality of your videos and editing has gone up so it only makes sense that you'd now be posting less often ❤✨
Don't be sorry! I am excited for the way you are taking the channel! I love your videos and find them so educational while fun!
Happy to see your videos as they arrive. It is critical for the process to be enjoyable and nurturing for you or it cannot be that for us. You do you…we will follow your journey.
You do what's best for you. I'm not going anywhere. I will always watch. Turning on the little bell. 🙂
I love Kristy Rice’s, saying “YOU DO YOU BOO”
You are totally my favourite aquarell painting favourite,Because of your obvious passion. You spread so much joy with your out of the box thinking and applying it on this channel. i stop there, Please keep it up..Hugs.
I feel the same as the last commentor. I get so much information and great vibes from you. I just love everything you have produced. You have helped me so much. Thank you for being YOU❤❤❤😊
I got so upset! I thought you were quitting! I just found you and appreciate all you do. Just do you because you are amazing!
Margot, your channel is fun, informative and love when you show your beautiful work! - it must be so hard to balance everything-I will continue support your amazing content whenever you post - gladly!!!! 😊🎨👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I just found you & you’re an absolute joy to watch! I’m learning a lot, so that’s a huge bonus. Thanks for all that you do!!
Welcome to the channel! Glad to have you you here and no, we’re not going anywhere 😉
I loved your cooking style video. It'll be worth waiting for other fun, themed videos like that.
I love it!! That's what we all want right...to learn...to grow...to spread our own wings and fly! I'm still a baby watercolor artist. I've been at it for 2 solid years, at times I feel like art is just flowing out of me, and it great, looks super professional and then all of the sudden it stop and flops as if I have forgotten everything I learned up to that point. I suppose sometimes I start over thinking it too much, but I can't get myself out of it. Is this normal? What can I do to help keep my art flowing? I loved your last cooking with watercolor it was so great! I can't wait to see what you come up with next...no pressure!
Margot, Today I decided to catch up on some of my favorite UA-cam channels… like yours! My finger hit the play button with hesitation and wonder as to what your big news might be. I’ve yet to make a flower ballerina but I can vividly conjure up an image your mom buying tubes of water color in Japan. I’m here for you and whatever your channel may bring.
Hi Margot. I look forward to your next video whenever it comes. Thank you❤
I wish you well on your journey of reformatting and refocusing your life. 🙏🏼💛
Love your channel and your ideas going forward.
Oh Dearest Margot!! Whatever, we love YOU!! We will gladly take whatever you are willing to give!! Enjoy your babies while they are little AND do what is best for you!! ❤
I’m saying a lot of my artists that I follow finally doing this now, not listening to the UA-cam algorithm and maybe producing their videos less often but still the same quality and they know that their viewers that love them. Don’t care if we have to wait we’re not going anywhere. Would we like a video once a week or every day of course but we also know the reality of the situation. Not to mention and I think everyone would agree with me here being a mum comes first before and above everything else.
