oops! I forgot to post the reference photo: unsplash.com/photos/people-walking-on-street-during-night-time-rLWKOJaZISU Also, the lightwish calender I used sold out but this one by Grabie is 100% cotton and should work well too: amzn.to/41Oe46q (affiliate link)
Yes, the idea of a monthly calendar painting session is a great idea. What would be even better is if Lightwish would put out a 2026 calendar that you could work on during 2025 at a relaxed pace and then give as a Christmas present in December 2025. Your ballerina painting is lovely. Merry Christmas to you and yours this holiday season and to all your followers also. Greetings from Toronto, Ontario 🇨🇦
You could do paintings and then stick them on the calendar pages instead of directly on their stock. Unless they change the size, it should fit or make your own. I remember when that was a thing.
A 2026 calendar is a good idea! You could DIY it. Paint from a block and then get one of those ready made "put your photos" calendars and you can assemble it when the calendars become available. As I mention this I realize I can do this myself. Thanks for the nudge!
@@nalissa77 Yes, you could always buy a 2026 calendar when they come out in 2025 and paste in your paintings but you would not have access to those artist quotes which provide a theme for your paintings as in: Degas, ballerinas, pastels; all of which Lindsay pulled together in her painting.
That sounds like a great idea, basing your monthly painting on that month's featured Artist. I would love to see you continue with this monthly project.
I thought this was a fabulous idea when you showed it on Sat Chat. Something free and easy with no expectations. We can choose to paint what you paint or something else that the quote inspires us to paint. I loved the painting you made. Totally reminded me of Degas. Love the painting!
I LOVE this painting and as soon as I saw it, Degas’s paintings came to mind. Doing art in the style of the painter quoted would be so much fun to see. Thanks for sharing Lindsay.
Hullo Lindsay, I am just staring in awe at my screen! You have a million dollar idea for creating consistent content for an Artists channel! The idea of working on the calendar a year in advance is almost how it is done for so many businesses! I believe that you have enough subscribers that you can create a page a month either on the calendar project or for next year’s calendar. You can even make it easier for You, if you want to create your monthly page during a stream! You have a full length video, no editing, repeatable content where viewers become part of the project too! Viewers can watch, paint the calendar, paint on a fresh sheet for their own enjoyment or calendars they will assemble! So many different ways to WIN! I am hopeful that you will find a way to make this happen. I have a minor in history and during my art history segment I decided to take a college level art class, it changed the course of my life! I never thought I could earn a living in Art. I was in college for a business degree and “flip” I switched, in fact I never finished because I got an Art job and I never looked back!
Lindsay i really love this, it feels like the inspiration I've been waiting for for the last few weeks! Love the idea of some art history and painting. No pressure but I've ordered the calendar to paint along!
I love how your painting came out. The idea of matching the quote with the artists style in your painting was brilliant. I’d paint along if you did these monthly. 🤩
What a wonderful idea, Lindsay! I looked right away, and the calendar is no longer available. However, that doesn't mean I can't paint a long. I do hope you do this the end of each month. Your painting is beautiful, as always.
Sounds fun to me. I am always blown away by your watercolor paintings that you speed up. They go from OMG Lindsay what are you doing? To OMG Lindsay that's gorgeous in less than 10 minutes.
Great idea! Would paint along. Here in 🇩🇪 there are empty calendars to self illustrate in thick(er) paper. I can imagine creating something in a different medium every month: watercolor, gouache, Neocolor II, tempera sticks, ink and wash, collage, gelli printing collage...now you got me all inspired.
This is wonderful , loved watching you paint this and I can’t wait to try it myself ❤❤❤ wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas 🎄☃️ yes to calendar ❤
that's actually a wonderful idea! def would be great if we could have a video like that every month :D i'm gonna try it out as well, thanks for the idea!
I love this idea. The 2023 Art by Marlene advent calendar had a desk calendar. I would say in terms of challenging myself in art, I was most successful in this challenge. I see my Aug’23 piece is the first sketchbook floozy challenge - the feather and flowers from your walk in the woods ❤
That would be so much fun! I’d do it!!! I saw this a little late and Amazon is out of stock. But I have a big pad of 15x 10.2” Baihong block paper. It’s big enough for me to draw a little calendar on the bottom if I use it Portrait way, so I may use this. It’s a great idea and I hope I can follow along. P.s. I’ve been doing some tree bookmarks from your last video and it’s getting my brush moving again! Thanks so much!
Yeah. Looks like fun. Who is quoted in Feb? I’ll give it a go. Seems like the calendars are sold out so I'll be doing it on regular watercolor paper. Gabbie has a vertical one but it's smaller.
I love this idea, love art history and would totally do this with you! Can't wait! Can you please link to the Unsplash source photo? I would love to try this one too.
Thanks for the heads up! The singles are on clearance too! They have double ended for the price of one brush ao you could switch the tips after you use up one ink chamber. They probably weren't selling well.
Love this idea! I enjoy art history shows on UA-cam so this would be great! Have you seen the one from England, sorry, can’t remember the name, they research pieces of art that people have to find the history of them to see if they are valuable. Now I’ll have to go find the name of the show 😂 Your painting is delightful, love Degas! ❤❤❤ thanks Lindsay!…. Found it 😂😂😂 Fake or Fortune, I think I’ve seen all of them.
I really like this idea. Can we stop having so many marketing videos, please? The reason I like you so much is because you mainly did art, not selling. I love the art you do x
I don't do many sponsored videos, maybe one a month. I post reviews on Mondays, so you might want to skip them if you don't want to know about new products, but I post 4 (or more) a week so hopefully you find some you like:)
I have doubts about this comment. I don’t believe that you are selling in your videos ! You are always saying “use what you got!” You even mentioned using a separate sheet of paper! Thanks for sharing your ideas and techniques!

Degas was definitely an inspiration for this piece!
I love this painting! I got to see a Degas in person recently. I took a close up photo of his strokes.

I love the looseness!!!! And using the pastel pencils on top was a great idea. Would love to see this every month!
So pretty. I love how you painted the ballerinas ! Thanks for showing us this monthly calendar. 🙂
It was fun to paint!
Yes, I'd do that. I'm not sure I want to try an " old master" painting, tho. But I love the idea of a picture a month.
It doesn’t have to be an “old master” if you don’t want it to be!
I would love to see this become a series (and participate in it)! I love how your painting turned out!
Love this…. Great painting. A really lovely idea, once a month painting.
