My exact question! How durable are the cheaper options. It’s seems like over time things would start lifting
You read my mind... I have used those exact dollar tree tiles and the backing doesn't stay on and they lift up.. u can see the separation. This is a beautiful end look but for a person home I would think they'd want something more durable. I've never used contact paper.
They do lift with too much heat or water damage
I was just thinking the same thing! Like it's gorgeous, but the white! The everything! I feel like I'm cooking in my bedroom and I don't like that!

I do remember that red makeover. You said it would be removable because it was an apartment. I loved the colors also. ❤❤❤
It looks amazing. If there's anything I'd change or do differently would be the gold accents. I would have used silver to match the stainless steel appliances.And I'd find a way to put the cabinet extensions on hinges. That way all the space ontop of the cabinets could be used for storage. But that's just me. The end result is still classy & elegant.
You do know you mix metals. Your cabinet pulls do not need to match the appliances.
Smart about hinges and storage..I am always down for maximizing spaces

That kitchen with the red is about the size of my kitchen 😭 but I love what you did with it. Next week I’m hitting up the dollar tree to redo my kitchen. So glad this video popped up for me. I hate my kitchen but I’m sure after the makeover I’ll love it a lot more.

At 5:48 you can see little dabs of construction adhesive on the cabinets, then she pressed the contact paper-covered wood to the cabinet. I think she pried the contact paper panels off & replaced them with the shiplap panels the same way🤷🏽
Yes something on those cabinets changed from the contact paper that was first put on.

I’m so happy that you did this project your final touches made this a game changer. Even more so for me because it’s the exact replica of my kitchen. I love the fact that while I have some ideas I’d like to implement I have a hard time seeing the bigger picture of how it all ties in. It does not help either that my husband doesn’t want to redo anything I don’t like a week later😂😂.

It’s an amazing transformation! I could never come up with the inspiration to do this when left to my own devices.. I end up with more of a broke down sadly put together shabby broke as a joke college dorm room. As a 48 year old bwahahah 🤓🤦🏻♀️ love how creative you are!

These are some great hacks to make your kitchen look expensive if you don't have the budget to renovate everything. I like the contact paper hack and the faux cabinets on top so that it draws the eye up and makes the kitchen look more grand. Black was a good choice. And finally, the tiles and colors really compliment the countertop.
