Wabtec still builds class 1 locomotives in erie, the test track has sporadic use during the day. Great shots of North East and the Lakeshore Railway museum. Im glad you enjoyed the museum. And that factory across the tracks is the largest Welch's plant in country, gets switched regularly by NS. Also csx signals at north east go green the minute a train leaves Buffalo or Cleveland.
Second locomotive I ever got on was CSX No. 606 AC6000CW this was back before CSX derated and installed Gevo 16 motors in a majority of them CW46AH was the new designation
No class ones in the US use straight up Import locomotives, but some of them use ones based off imports. I was at lake shore, I went in the AC6000CE and the B32-8 I loved it
@ time 03.19 in the long line off trains, the train to the far right off the screen is a GE Freightliner Class 70 Number 70012, this locomotive was sent to the UK & whilst being off loaded from the Boat to Newport Docks the Lifting gear Failed, causing the locomotive to fall back into the hold of the ship , The Locomotive was shipped back to GE ERIE, PA obviously after being refused delivery as the locomotive had received substantial damage in which its frame was bent, Since its return at GE, Eire it has been refurbished and I believe the loco is now used as a Test Locomotive at Erie, PA. There is lots off info on this loco on Y/T or the Internet for you to check out, Its actually Nice to see it on your video and lots of UK Rail Fans would be over the moon if the loco was returned to the UK.
glad you came to my city ERIE Pa! great place for train spotting. if you post up on Walbridge Av near Wabtec you can often see them testing the new engines back and forth. I believe they send most of em to Brazil. Sassafrass St. is another good spot to just kick back and watch trains. great video man
I've been living in Erie Pennsylvania for the past 7 months now and I gotta say I love watching the trains here myself it's nostalgic to me thanks for sharing this
Thanks for visiting our little town, North East Pennsylvania ❤❤❤Blessings
Not a railfan, but I am from Erie, and I will say thanks for stoppin by! Lots of trains and tracks 'round these parts to enjoy
It so great that small places like Erie are getting more attention, the area I live in never gets any😁
Awesome video! That was cool seeing inside the locomotive and I liked that bridge that went over all those tracks
I LOVE seeing this new generation have a new take on railfan videos. Like, making it an interactive show. I dig it, man. Keep it going
Love this my mother lives on Downing and Woodlawn…I cross these tracks daily
3:40 the test track for GE is actually on the opposite end of GE at Walbridge Road and only runs on weekdays
thanks for the info!
And I just subscribed and liked!!
Fun fact: the Erie west sub when it was New York central, it used to be 4 tracks all the way from Chicago to buffalo
Most of the 4 tracks was either removed or changed to sidings
wow that's crazy, 4 track main line that far!
My Dad worked for GE 42years. GE at it's height in Erie had 14,000 employees.
Great spot to go film trains! Cool as old rail museum (RIP to some of them old trains)! and fast trains! New SUB from Australia. Thanks mate! 🇦🇺🇺🇸🍻😎
