This is amazing, I have a daily routine which includes what I’m going to do but until this video I never thought to have a routine as to what I’m going to EAT!
I think you are spot on with these and I think it is both honest and brave to put this out there.... However I dislike that term emotional eating. Just think about this situation: someone is going shopping and before they leave they ask if there's anything you would like. Like being a feeling or emotion. If you reply without emotion to that it would have to be something like: I need 3 pound of groceries, 10% protein, 10% fat and the remaining 80% should be slow release carbohydrates. Legumes and coliflower are in season. See you later. Food is emotional!😊
I have been training for 10 years and still feel like I look terrible. I'm just cutting until I can see my abs, already went from 183lbs to 160lbs but I probably have to lose another 15lbs of fat to be lean. We underestimate how much fat is on our bodies
1. liquid calories 2. frequent snacks 3. emotional/binhe eating 4 eating to escape 5. no boundaries 6. no systems 7. everyday is different 8. limiting beliefs
It all comes down to calories at the end of the day. Stop eating out because resturant food will always be high in calories. Craving a burger? Make a turkey burger at home. Craving pizza? Get some cauliflower crust and fat free mozzarella and make it at home. You don't have to be strict. Just be smart and strategic about it
The self sabotage factor is one of the hardest and deepest “issues” I have ever dealt with bc it’s so hard to break out of it. When I fight my urges then end up binging or doing anything that’s not coherent with my goals, I get sooo confused and ask myself why tf I keep doing this stuff then complain I don’t achieve my goals… it feels like being trapped in a maze. I could be wrong but I feel like self sabotaging behavior takes root in the subconscious mind which makes it very difficult to live a day without doing some sort of thing that ruins my progress 😢
In short, I’m addicted to self sabotage bc Although I’m self aware each time I’m doing it, I’ll just keep doing it. It harms me and gives me no satisfaction.Actually, I think it possibly gives me the satisfaction of confirming what my limiting beliefs told me.
I just watched this video because it showed up in my feed, and I found it so surprisingly informative and helpful. Everything said was so true. I need boundaries/‘learn to say no” in life, which I know will lead to changes in other areas of my life, including eating…TY ❤
Ok so you have it .Good looks, excellent smarts, videos that bring in good money, good health. Now is the time “Get a girlfriend ,date and marry.”Yup I’m your mothers voice.
Love your vids. Just to clarify, Gabor Mate is not a psychologist. He's a regular doctor, like a GP. He just had decades of experience working with people and noticed the link between emotions and illness. That sent him down a path of investigation of trying to understand how emotions can effect the body to create better outcomes for his patients. 30 years later he's a leading emotional trauma expert.
Light jogging at a 10-12 minute mile pace burns anywhere from 500-1000 calories an hour. Most of the variance is due to bodyweight. A 150 pound person burns about 700 calories an hour. Two hours of jogging would burn off about 9 cans of Coke.
I don’t believe people when they downplay the calories burned from steady state cardio. The amount of calories I burned as a cross country runner was absurd. I got back into running, and in just a couple weeks I have a more lean appearance.
Love your view on mind-body focus. You can tell you have done a lot of inner work. I really enjoy listening to your input because even though some concepts I have heard the way you put them together just make so much sense. Thank you for your authenticity.
Love you stuff bro. This one is... amazing. I think the last point really hit home for a lot of people. I started my journey 3 years ago, October 2020, by journey I mean being properly serious about getting in shape. I started at 140kgs (around 305lbs), as of today I'm 97kgs (around 213lbs). The goal is to get around 88kgs. What I struggle with the most is consistent dieting. I workout 5-6 days a week, some days heavy and some days light, but on average I burn between 2800-3000 calories a day.
I'm 143.2 pounds (5' 6''') and currently only struggle with frequent snacks. I usually snack on dark chocolate, nuts, and fruit. I'm also at a plateau...the way the body clings onto fat for "survival" purposes is so frustrating.
7:13 - yep, I had all my systems in place except for my diet, so while I gained a lot of muscle over the years and I always had a big belly. That's changing now that I started prepping my food/tracking cals.
Should add Cooking Oils to the list, I act as my girl's personal dietitian and first thing I did was get her to boil/steam more and put meats/fish/veggies/potato on the grill in the oven more often instead of cooking with olive oil
@@thepolymathacademy4891 because people unknowingly add hundreds to over a thousand calories worth of cooking oils easily throughout a day to their foods, and they do not measure it and often use way more than necessary (those eating warm meals 3+ times a day can easily add up to over a thousand calories worth of oils) while boiling or grilling in the oven adds no calories at all, (and she struggles a lot with reducing the amount of food so reducing the fats used helps her alot)
I noticed my emotional eating 2 months ago and Im trying to fix it as best as I can. But its beeb really hard. I would eat like 5 meals a day if Im really stressed out. My stresses and anxiety would melt away if I just have to eat whatever I want. If I try to resist the urge of overeating, my anxiety would skyrocket and I couldnt do anything anymore. Ive been trying to fix it by finding other activities that I enjoy to replace it. But there were still times I couldnt resist. It felt like something just tookover me and automatically happened. I cry sometimes because I felt I couldnt have control over myself.
its been a weird year for me, this 1 year i lost to about 118 kg from 140kg, its kinda weird now that i hate being full, i always force to threw up when i feel full, its a very bad habit, and i wish to learn to remove this habit, and follow this guide.
So so good man! 👏🏼 I can totally relate to all of that. I spent the last 30 years being ‘chubby’ with no boundaries!…. Then back in feb 23 my head was ready to make the change, dropped all upf foods, strength training 3-4 times a week (following your very own minimalist routine) & I’ve lost 28lb & the V taper is taking shape. Thank you for your honest words & depth no bs videos 👍🏼
I am 50 years old, and i ve had enough. I weight 106kg and i am 186cm tall , according to the doctor i need to lose 10kg to be healthy. I have started p90xclassic and eating meats, vegetables , and salads . Let s see where it takes me
Hey man, loved the first half of the video, really good advise about dietary habits. But when it comes to the second half I feel like you drift too much into psychological assessments that might be helpful to some, but are just kind of too all over the place and undifferentiated to be viewed as good advice in this kind of setting. I'd rather see you focus more on the exercise and diet side of things since the psychological analysis your presenting might negatively effect people depending on their backgroune
I did start to lose belly fat and face fat, doing IF, drinking a lot of green tea, not much sweets, definitely no coke and i feel less hungry and my face is glowing and no acne. Along that weight exercise and i walk around 8-12 k a day.
I have learned that all calories are not the same maybe that’s why I never was able to count calories from protein or fat, I put more attention to calories from carbs specifically bad carbs. Please advise. To me is hard to count calories over all.
You can have a day or two without limits (or less limit) but the frequency of those days is a factor. Also large calories items in limit with low calorie/no calorie nutrients makes a major impact. Have cookies and rutabaga instead of cookies and bread.
To the bit about going out on a weekend and eating/drinking a lot, or doing that on vacation or whatever I would say that having a not so healthy weekend or vacation is ok as long as it's not frequent. If you gain 4 pounds on a vacation, who cares it's a vacation. But if you are doing that damage frequently then it's very unhealthy. That's just my opinion on that. Enjoy life and indulge a bit, but don't do it every week
2:08 - I was caught off guard when you said “gelato.” I spent my whole life thinking it was the Somali word for ice cream this whole time, but it turns out it was a loan word from our Italian colonizers. 😂
Man, I've liked some of your other vids, but there are some absolutely shit tier takes in this video about chubbier guys. I understand that you gotta talk in generalisations but man to say all of us are chubby because we eat snacks is just wild. I very very rarely snack, it's one of the few positive changes I've currently been able to hit that I'm actually proud of. Maybe I'm the exception but most of these really don't apply much to me, and some are just blatantly wrong. RIP
Same, this video was pretty useless. I'm not a guy, but I've always been chubby. I have NEVER been a snacker. I have NEVER eaten at night, I have dinner max at 9pm and that's it. I have never drank sugary drinks and starbucks isn't big in my country as it is in america. Only thing that applies is maybe some "emotional eating" or binge eating. But I have now eliminated that last obstacle and have started eating only 2 meals a day, with lots and lots of veggies and protein, and only some fruits and carbs. Still I'm not losing weight. Wanted to see what I was doing wrong but I don't currently do anything he said lol.
Proud to say i Dont do not one of these . Super mindfull all the time. My issue is having a protein Bar for The taste daily . Thats like 2g of sugar but im planning onstoppin im moving countries n They Dont have them there. 😃 Also I go out sometimes that’s probably sending me back a week at least . Alcohol is poison to my body it’s slowing me down big time.
