Denise Gough's energy is great - she's so game for it! Dedra is really close to standing right alongside Krennic in my pantheon of favorite SW villains. I would ask to let her survive season 2 so we can see her again, but I don't want to push my luck. :)
Andor is definitely the best Star Wars show Disney has put out so far. Mando is fun, but watching Andor makes me ask myself every once in a while how gritty and realistic Star Wars can be.
Yeah, and it kinda sucks how _The Mandalorian_ isn't the most "gritty and realistic" of them all anymore. Good, credible writing has to be there for grounded characters, action, and setting; _The Mandalorian_ started with that but now has mostly superficial claims to the "gritty and realistic" part, while the writing's often bad enough to pull me outta being immersed and invested.
@@Br0wnCh3 Sure, yeah, that's all true, but I don't think any of that's an excuse for the show going downhill in my opinion. It's also not the case that something like _Andor_ tries to do something _very_ similar to _The Mandalorian_ and manages to improve simply due to having the advantage of going second or later. It's different enough to face its own challenges, and its development also had a pretty unique approach that helps explain why it's so good or feels refreshingly unique in a good way.
I did think of her like the villain's journey to an extent. Like a prodigy rising through the ranks but not one of those obnoxious "I am perfect at everything" characters.
Early on in the series I thought she was going to eventually go Rebel because she was portrayed in a sympathetic light at first and she seemed frustrated with ISB/Imperial leadership. Then I was surprised when she doubled down on her evilness by episode 8. In some ways I'm actually glad they went in that direction. Having her become a Rebel would have been a little cliched.
@@tammykolu1242 there is definitely good or bad in Andor. The Empire is bad, that’s the whole point of Andor. The Rebellion is good, but how far do you need to go to defeat evil? Do you become Luthen? Andor? Mom Mothma?
The brilliance of "I suppose I should thank you." is on par with "I love you", "I know." That's why Andor is so good and feels more like the OG trilogy than anything else to me.
Denise plays the worst best imperial since Tarkin. So smart, ruthless, tactical everything imperial officers should be. I'll never forgive Dedra for what she did to Bix.
I love Andor as much as the next guy, but "by far" the best since ROTJ, even by Andor is a large stretch. One of the best absolutely but THE BEST, not 100% sure about all of that
@@OddEyeGuy Mando season 3 definitely isn't, there's an argument to be made for seasons 1 and 2, but Andor is still definitely better from a writing perspective.
I'd say best since Empire. That's not to say that I don't very much love and appreciate other Star Wars output, if I wasn't a fan I wouldn't be watching this video.
She had a well written role and took full advantage of it. The whole show was such a treat to watch ! It proved SW can have great dialogue and tight plot. It can be way smarter, darker and deeper than your kid's bedtime story... which is something I've been saying for years !
Ferrix became my favorite world and culture in Star Wars. Three fantastic characters in a show full of great characters. If there was a moment I think it was Dedra realizing that she could control this poor little man utterly and he would be into it.
I absolutely love how the town it's not just a random place in the middle of a desert, but actually is a source of workers to the industrial salvaging plant, which is a city-forming enterprise. Very logical and consistent, especially comign from the SW franchise. Great show overall, the only down to Earth portrayal of this universe up to date
I cried during this. Why does everything always hit me after the fact? It's great seeing all this star wars love and having hope that there will be at least some good content in the future, mainly Andor Season 2
Man, Deedra/Denise is so different off-screen. It's hilarious to watch. Also, I liked Syril from the start, he kind of stole the show to me. His character deserves more appriciation!
The way Dedra dons her daily uniform reminds me of when I was in the Air Force; self-inspection in front of the mirror. I know nothing’s amiss, but I check for out-of-place things anyway.
Andor was the one series on D+ that Disney Star Wars has done right. The series captured the mundane (non-Force) portion of the Star Wars universe very well. Just like Rogue One did. Good job Tony Gilroy Cassian Andor's story arc is good. Mon Mothma's story arc is good. Deedra and Syril's story arc is good. If season 2 of Andor is anything like season 1 was, then I look forward to it.
It may be weird but one of my favourite quotes from season 1 is simply “Hello Bix”. She managed to package such a promise of dread in a simple greeting that what should be simple pleasantry tore open the maws to the abyss…
I am so happy that these excellent actors got to star in a masterful series like Andor. I hope that any Star Wars fans who have not seen the series yet give it a try.
I love hearing the Andor cast talk about their show. They really understand their characters and their roles, as well as the overall symbolism of the show and real world parallels.
Denise is awesome, I already loved how smart and evil Dedra is. You can see she has a lot of passion for her role. She is enjoying it. The only times you kind of rule a bit for the Empire. Denise you're great.
Honestly, I like Syrill He's on the wrong side he just doesn't realize it and I like that. Dude's such a driven character. He just wants to do what he things is right, and get Deedra to step on him. Understandable.
It's really sad that we only get 1 more season of Dedra. If they make a sequel show post-ANH, I hope she survives Andor so we can continue to follow her character.

Denise played Deedra so perfectly. You sympathize with her up till she tortured Bix. At that moment you realize “oh yeah she’s the villain”

Legendary characters already. Legendary show.

Denise Gough ❤️❤️❤️
Yennefer voice actor!
Team Yen! [I've never chosen Triss]
She has that charisma, natural 20.
Awesome ❤
These actors are amazing! I can’t wait to see them in S2 of Andor
Extraordinary ❤❤ can't wait to see Andor couple
The acting chops of this amazing cast are off the charts. Where do you start? Great writing plus great performances equals wow, what a show.
Amazing ❤
Many of them have starred prominently on the West End which is usually a pretty good gauge of their ability.
They cut the part where denise said "who wants to get tortured" 😂
That was so funny
And Kyle saying Me! Do me!
Awesome ❤

Great trio!! Anthony too. Loved this
Dedra is one of the best characters in Andor. She should remain ruthless and puritanical, then maybe a hint of empathy in her last scene.
I think parts of Deedra are beginning to rub off on Denise Gough :D

Adria Arjona OMG
