      I think it's important to remember that he struggled with cocaine and alcohol addiction most of his life. When you realize it's highly unlikely he was sober during this his energy starts to make more sense.

    My bff, her family, and I were lucky enough to be in the audience for this taping. We had no idea who the guest was going to be, either. I'll never forget our group being handed the last 4 tickets, the line being cut off behind us, and us running into the Orpheum Theater as the band started. I still can't believe we got to see Robin in person.

    A long time resident of San Francisco, I was in the audience for this taping. I knew at the time how fortunate we were to experience Robin's genius in person. All these years later, I'm even more grateful. What a memorable evening this was.

    We were there, which happened to be the "night" Robin Williams was there. Trivia: where he mentions "Nob Hill" at 3:39 there's a scream after which he says those are the people who snobbishly say "I bought these seats." The scream was my friend, who Robin then looks in her direction, points at her and says the punchline. Right after that we were giddy that she got a reaction from Robin Williams.

    Eerie how he kind of made a joke about jumping off that miniature “Golden Gate bridge” on the set, in reality leading to an almost certain death, and then later on actually taking his own life by suicide. That was a really sad feeling. He was a great man but he had so much inner turmoil and sadness behind those eyes. He selflessly dedicated his life to the world of comedy effectively making others feel better about themselves by enjoying it and in the end, couldn’t bear his own existence.

    • @holysecret2
      @holysecret2 2 роки тому +6

      I'm not remembering some of the details. I believe he had a terminal sickness in his brain, yes? Is it known whether he "willingly" committed suicide, or maybe it resulted from a manic episode or something? Not that it really matters though, honestly, because from everything that is known and that I found it's clear that without that sickness, it wouldn't have happened.

    • @frenchtoast7742
      @frenchtoast7742 Рік тому +3

      Are you crazy ? It was his illness. If he didn’t have Lewy Body Dementia- his death wouldn’t have happened. Do some research about his illness and what he went through and what his family went through also.

    • @Senriam
      @Senriam Рік тому +5

      Lewey body dementia is one of the absolute worst ways to go. Your brain literally becomes incapable of processing joy and happiness. Dopamine and serotonin reuptake cease. It is LITERALLY the most miserable death imaginable from a definitional standpoint. The sadness eats your brain.

      Can you imagine what Robin Williams would have thought, if he seen these wonderful comments about Genie? And knew of all of the people who were watching interviews of him on Conan O'Brien laughing at all of his jokes? I can't guarantee it would have prevented him from doing what he did, but certainly would have gave him something to stop and think about. Rest in peace to one of the most brilliant actors of our time! A true, gift (and brilliant beacon of light, as in star) to the entire lexicon of American cinema.

      I fear that in the end RW did not know how much he was loved. How could he? His films barely made it into the movie theaters ("Angriest Man in Brooklyn" for example), and his TV show "The Crazy Ones" got canceled. Ratings dropped so drastically. Which I don't understand, it was not a bad show. And al that on top of his physical and psychological problems... He told friends and family that he had nothing to live for which did alarm them. Maybe not enough, who knows, nobody can tell. It is so so sad that he is gone, there hasn't been a day without thinking of RW ever since August 12 when I read the news here in Germany. It is even sadder how the life of this wonderful person died. If only he hadn't succeeded and could have lived to see the love and affection still there for him. The world lost so much with him.

    The exchange between them starting at 1 minute 38 is absolutely hilarious.
    Conan starts by saying 'beautiful scale model and' to which Robin has a joke and so interrupts by repeating Conan to carry the conversation his way and Conan has this awesome look on his face of 'okay what you got?' and then right before he realizes Robin is gonna do an accent at 1.44 his expression turns into a hilarious smile.
    Robin obviously then delivers 'This could be very beautiful for flowers also' in a Chinese accent. Which is genuis in itself.

    When two people are in a conversation regardless of who the individuals are, there is always a dominant person in the interaction. In this interaction it’s without a doubt Robin Williams and there’s nothing that Conan O’Brien can do about it. And that’s saying a lot knowing that Conan O’Brien is usually the dominant one in conversations that I’ve seen him in. It’s very rare for me to see Connor O’Brien not the dominant one.

    With Robin, to understand his genius you need to look at the person interviewing him and their reactions.
    1min45 seconds he realises Robin is building a lead to a joke and you see Conan sit back with a grin on his face before the “that is very beautiful to have it for flowers also” China capitalist joke.
    Then the way Robin sort of adjust to get the accent ready right before he delivers.
    Mad level of wit and comedic genius really.

    no matter what mood I'm in, when I get to the parrot in the bedroom part I either crack up uncontrollably or smile and just close my eyes. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS VIDEO OR ANY OF HIS. I understand it is awkward how he has impromptu interviews that have alarming segments of allusions to suicide, but as someone who loves Robin, comic talent, and thinks Robin as one of the best there ever as well as understands suicide and has had thoughts of it, I can't tell you how many times that me having the chance of watching his interviews has lifted my spirit enough to move on with my day. I know he was troubled, but he had a disease like so many of us do and left behind an archive that has so much selflessness and dedication to just helping someone laugh that we cannot NOT have these interviews removed. It's sad, even devistating, but it is actually way, way, way more positive and important.
