1:47 Now I know which "spanish dialect" has a voiceless palatal stop instead a voiceless postalveolar affricate.

Now you can make a comparative video of the 4 main languages of the Astur-Leonese subgroup: Asturian, Extremaduran, Leonese and Mirandese 🎉

Something interesting is that, compared to Asturian, Spanish lost many initial "f"s, but Extremaduran, being part of the Astur-Leonese group, lost many more.

As a Spaniard I didn't know there was such an "Extremaduran" language at all.

El asturiano y el extremeño son variantes de la misma lengua, el Asturleonés.

Extremadurian sounds a bit like Puerto Rican and Cuban in pronunciation (not in morphology of course)

Extremaduran sounds like a mix of Spanish and Arabic.

Sound like a mix of Spanish and Portuguese. I am native Portuguese from Alentejo, on border with Spanish Extremadura

@@pedp0683 Extremaduran is a transitional speech between Astur-Leonese and Castilian, so yeah, that would make Portuguese closer to Extremaduran than to Castilian in the Romance dialect continuum.

I’m from Extremadura, and I can assure you that the Extremaduran language doesn’t actually exist. It is a reconstruction of different dialects, all of them mixed together but from different areas which do not have much to do with each other. To be honest only some elderly people speak some of those dialects, but not “Extremaduran” which in my opinion is quite artificial to not say a full invention. By the way, in the cities we all speak Castilian Spanish.

Extremaduran is from Iberian Peninsula, while regular Maduran is from Madura island near Java.
