  • Water Wisteria Plant Care. Taking care of this plant is easy with my tricks. Water Wisteria propagation is a great way to grow a lot more plants. This plant is a great beginner plant for anyone. I also give some tips and tricks to get more leaves on the plant.

Some things you need to test for have 2 different solutions you need to add to in order for you to get accurate results. Definitely check out the booklet that came with the test and follow the directions very carefully so you get an accurate read.
Since one PH is reg and one is high, I only need to do the reg one bc my parameters need to be lower than it's max read anyways, rite??
I would definitely start with the regular low range PH test. If it’s reading at the highest one you could try the high range. The booklet will have everything step by step.
I run steaming hot water in mine, if you don’t have a brush to fit in it I’d try to take a damp paper towel and stick it in the tube, then shove it down with a pencil or pen until it’s all the way through, so it wipes the inside.
There should be a little guide book inside. Follow the instructions. You definitely need both Nitrates and both Ammonias. I don't use the high ph, just the regular one. As far as cleaning them goes, I just rinse them out well with water. Nothing special.
Ha, fancy seeing you in this group too! This chart helps to make sense of the water testing results. The colors in the starred brackets are what you’re aiming for, and those that aren’t tell you what percentage of water to change out to help balance it. Don’t be alarmed if the readings seem crazy right now, or fine now but then look crazy in a week or so. It’s just the nitrogen cycle starting to establish. Just make sure the ammonia and nitrite levels don’t spike too high. Nitrates and PH you don’t really need to be too worried about, but ammonia and nitrites are bad (ideally it should read at 0 ppm once the nitrogen cycle is established). Both of the bottles 1 & 2 go in the same tube, (nitrate 1&2 in the same tube, ammonia 1&2 together in a different tube) then you shake and wait five minutes. The bottles 1&2 of the same solution (nitrate/ammonia) just need to be mixed together in the test tube, but can’t be put together in the actual bottles because it wouldn’t be stable if they were. That’s the only reason they’re separate. I’m not great at explaining these things but hopefully this made a little bit of sense.
Ah glad it helped!! I was incredibly lost and so frustrated when I started out, so I wanna spare as many people possible from the same headache lol. If ya have any questions, lemme know.
I'd say the only "issue" with those guidelines would be pH... It seems to indicate that 7.0 up to 8.0 is ideal for bettas when, in reality, Bettas come from slightly acidic waters (which is why we often add Indian Almond Leaves to their tanks for their tannins). A better range would probably be 6.6 - 7.4, give or take. Of course, as many say, the best pH is a stable pH.
API freshwater is 8 drops of ammonia solution 1 cap shake then add 8 drops of ammonia 2, nitrite is 5 drops and for the nitrate make sure you shake both bottles for 60 seconds then it's 10 drops of nitrate 1 cap shake then add 10 drops of solution 2 and shake for 60 seconds.
I couldn’t tell you what the difference is but it has something to do with the chemical. You have to add both to get your result. It shows you how many drops to add on the bottles. You want the parameters as low as possible.
Water wisteria is a great aquarium plant that absorbs things toxic to your fish.
In addition to everyone else’s comments, seriously, shake the absolute heck out of the nitrate bottle #2 before adding it to the tube. I always thought I was shaking enough until I joined this group and determined I was getting a false 0 reading every time from not shaking enough.

I really enjoy all of your videos. I like people who are entertaining in their own special way. I would not call you a goof ball. As mom always told us if you don't have something nice to say about someone don't say it. I think the people who criticize others on UA-cam have no idea how much time you guys are spending to share your information with others. Thank you very much for all your videos.

this is still the only plant i keep, i love it. i thought it was water sprite for the longest time, but im for sure i have wisteria now. i like the way that it looks different in every tank i put it in. the fish love to swim through it and im hoping once i get my andinoacara hybrid babies they'll use it as cover.

Do you have any advice for me about the plant melting and not coming. I have tried this plant twice but not sure if I ever floated it or not.

Uh no. Stem plants pull more nutrients from the water column, not the substrate. Just because you can plant it's roots in the substrate doesn't mean it turns into some heavy root feeder like an Amazon Sword. What are you even on about. Saying they pull all their nutrients from the substrate is just as ill informed as thinking and saying you need to plant Java Fern and Anubias.
