      Check seems reasonable, depending on player history. What is AA getting value from on river in a 4-bet pot where villain called out-of-position pre? KK and QQ jam flop, maybe even JJ too. TT and 99 are boats. 88- would be spewy calls pre, these should have been folded (even calling a 4-bet with 99 OOP is questionable), and would not probably not call river anyway. Out of AT, only AcTc (one hand) might call two streets and that's already an unlikely call pre. JTs folds on flop. T9 is two-pair on river. Title is a pretty big overstatement at best.

    The x back with AA is losing a lot at equilibrium, but this is simply because it is reliant on you calling down with hands like 88/77/66 and even some AQ etc. If he doesn't think you are going to call these hands, then there is no point in jamming AA cos then it's losing to more calls than its beating- 3 combos of JJ (which it beats), but 6 combos of TT/99 and then some random A5s and perhaps even 65s if you 3bet that pre (all of which it loses to).
    However JJ will also often jam on the flop or on the turn, so you can discount these combos even further.
    So likely your opponent made a pretty good exploitative adjustment, and would jam for value there only against opponents that are going to call him down with those very marginal bluff catchers- 88-66 and AQ high. Cos if you aren't willing to call these combos then he isn't incentivised to ever jam AA/KK etc for value. Pretty smart play from him imo.

    • @Weazel1991
      @Weazel1991  Рік тому +1

      Not sure if you are trolling given the last line of this but i'll give my explanation
      6 combos of JJ, not 3, and you cannot just discount QQ and KK because I shove sometimes. I flat pre sometimes, and if I'm not mistaken, QQ doesn't raise often on this flop type (which seems weird to me)
      He had 0 hands on me (afaik, although could have watched the stream), but even if he had he would know that against an unknown regs, I would much rather call what I am supposed to call against an unknown than overfold HARD and be exploited
      The point is, this simple is not a spot where I call 0 worse hands than AA. If you're beat, you're beat. Stick it in and take it like a man

    • @Demondoink1
      @Demondoink1 Рік тому +3

      @@Weazel1991 Well clearly we have different pre flop ranges cos in my sims JJ is mixing jam and call pre flop (hence the 3 combos) and KK/QQ pure jam pre flop. I'm not quite sure why you would ever wanna just call these hands pre flop from these positions tbh, but I guess if your sims say that then fair enough.
      So (at least according to my ranges) if you don't have KK/QQ pre flop, and only half the combos of JJ, then you will have too many sets relative to weaker combos for him to value bet against (unless you call off those very marginal combos that I listed).
      The fact that you call these players nits would mean that it seems extremely unlikely you are going to look to bluff catch them for 3 streets with AQ or 66- which is what I imagine he was thinking too. Unless I was playing against a station reg (or a fish) then I wouldn't expect my opponent to call these hands down either. Thus making his x back good imo.
      But yeah if you have KK/QQ then it could become a value jam, even if you (or the player pool) aren't calling off with enough of the weakest bluff catching combos on this line.
      Also there's no way for your opponent to even know you were over folding, given the fact that all the AQ/88/77/66 etc combos are mixing otr. You can easily just say 'i rolled a fold' if you are concerned about your opponent exploiting you. Though this spot arises so infrequently that I highly doubt he would have the chance to exploit you again any time soon, even if you said that you were never gonna bluff catch here.

      @@andrewdinns1746 Yes JJ is mixing jams pre flop and raising on the flop sometimes (I can't remember the exact frequency now tbh as it was a while ago).
      So realistically you are probably looking at 1-2 combos of JJ by the river.

      The way to beat high rake is to play tight (at least pre flop). Also, I dunno why people complain about nits, you just end up winning more pots than you 'should' against them cos of their passivity. Sure it's annoying when you have value and they make a tight x back, but it's great all those other times when they give up with a bluff and you win with A/K high etc, or when they fold to your bluffs.

    I think the A3cc hand call loses quite a bit of EV actually. If he shows up there with 98o he certainly shows up with worse flushes like 98cc and 97cc and 10x with a club which i think both have to call at some frequency. I think shove has to be the play there.

    • @Demondoink1
      @Demondoink1 Рік тому

      Yeah you literally just lose to KT. He can easily have a weaker flush, Tx etc and if he has KT then GG. Maybe if you were 150bb+ deep then calling is okay, but at 100bb then you just go broke.

    • @Weazel1991
      @Weazel1991  Рік тому +2

      98cc and 54cc almost pre raise flop, and is 45s really calling a shove after taking this line?
      Honestly if you play 100-500NL on GG you'll know that a lot of the players are on the tighter side, regs included
      This does mean I should open up bluffing range in spots like this on river (as players will overfold), but i think its hard for me to have obvious bluff candidates plus honestly, I think his line is a bluff WAY too often

    • @Demondoink1
      @Demondoink1 Рік тому

      @@Weazel1991 Yeah I only play 1k on GG occasionally tbh, so I don't have many solid reads on the player pool. It just doesn't seem worth playing tbh due to the insanely high rake- unless you are able to game select hard and get on tables with big whales.
      That's true about pre flop. I guess it just depends what he is doing with Tx. If these guys aren't using this sizing with non boat Tx, and aren't willing to call off with some random flushes etc, then calling makes sense.
      It's like the AA hand where he checks back vs your 99- if you aren't willing to call off with some random AQ, 88/77 etc then he just wants to x back.
      However from my own perspective I am fist pump jamming and watching them pure call all their Tx :D It's good when you have value, but annoying when you find a bluff and they snap call T9 no club.

Flatting the 4 bet, ruling out Kings, would imagine at some frequency queen's but in the small blind would think 9's through Jack's. Then flatting flop, turn bet, it would make sense to some degree a boat. However ngl I probably would have put a small value bet on the river, but hey early days of learning so everything I said could be complete garbage.
