I love the Chassis from my Mad Bull i had to Upgrade it with CVA Shocks and Ball Bearings but nice to see Tamiya included the CVA's not so keane on the livery but hey still fun to drive. Maybe i'll get myself one thanks Gavin nice Video.
Love the videos! Can’t wait to see the comparison video against the wltoys, no matter what the outcome is. I will always buy the traditional kits. They have so much more character and meaningfulness to me.
To look at it in a collection definitly the Grasshopper 1, as a runner the RX Memorial, because it solves two fundamental issues, the missing oil dampers and the suspension of the rear axle (compared to Grasshopper 1, but also compared to Grasshopper 2 / hornet).
Hi Gav I actually have a one of those parts spare. I love this chassis in Madbull form it’s great fun especially when you eliminate the slop from the steering
Thanks Gav, love the build! You mentioned Wltoy’s, huh. I just had a lambasting from the presenter of Driftomaniacs as I stated my views on his theory that Wltoys are going to shake up “Traxxas & Arrma” in the RC world. It’s the first time I have watch any of his material and after the abuse I received, the last. I am so blessed to have my regulars like yourself, Adam at RC Action Australia, Glenn at Tamiya Legends, Mark Bryan RC, and Vas at Aussie RC Playground. All true gentlemen. Which leaves me perplexed as to how all of your subscriptions are not a lot higher. Driftomaniacs has nearly 45k, and as I said his response to my comments were extremely aggressive, offensive and abusive. If this is how he conducts his channel then I am left dumbfounded why you guys are not smashing a lot more than him? Anyways it’s great to be in a less aggressive environment where people are free to have an opinion, I feel even calmer watching your videos as you show and talk about your clangers, laugh and joke about the nuisances of certain kits etc. It’s a happy place to be 👍🤓🇦🇺
I few RC channels are just massive, a few more are 100k subs and 95% of the rest range from 70k down with a massive chunk under 20k. I think my channel is so small as I focus on builds, restoration and vintage 1/10th RC. To grow faster I think I need to focus more on the US RTR basher market.
Gav your build videos are wonderful. Regarding missing bits, I always blame myself but lately I've been meticulous with parts and on my re-re Grasshopper I was missing one of those little alloy cylindrical bushings that goes in the shock eyes at either end. I am _certain_ it was never in the kit. I ran it with a juicebox Straw cut to the same length until I had a spare from eBay, but in fact could have done without it (didn't make much difference, haha). Also my Hotshot kit had some odd spares (always stuff you're not going to need!) but was short a single machine screw. No drama as they're common metric sizes and the local store had them.
Was on the fence about getting one but I think if I can find one I will be picking on up. I think it is just quirky enough looking to be cool! and who doesn't need another buggy in the stable :)
Based on the fact I've ordered that to go with my 90's original one that I grew up playing with as a child I'd say I'd rather have the memorial fighter buggy than a grass hopper
I bought one of these to run in our solid rear axle class purely on how it looked. Even tho its long wheel base isn't the best for some of our tight turns AND I had to pay almost as much in shipping as what the car costs, Yikes! Oh well, what else am I gonna spend my money on :) I was thinking of buying a Hopper II and upgrading the suspension but that back end with the lay down shocks and those gold wheels got me.
Nice video! Quick question: What do you spray on the decals before fitting it? looks a lot easer that way. But obviously, I´m seeing a master doing it.
Had to laugh when you said you could fit turnbuckles to adjust the toe. You obviously didn't know the toe was self adjusting🤣. A very cheap fix for the steering is to put some heatshrink on the connecting rod. position it so it pulls the rod down onto the horn and bellcrank. It gets rid of most of the slop. It's a great looking buggy, I think it's just a bit of a poor design but that gives it a lot of character.
ahhhhh the memorial!! my 2 runners are 1 mad fighter and 1 fighter rx...since 2006,unbreakable cars!!!! i think i'll buy this version...do you know if we can buy the stikers?for my old one...:)
Newbie here - what was that spray you were using on the decals/stickers? Looks excellent to give you a bit of work time in case you don't put the decal perfect to start with.
Something like this will work but look for one with a Tamiya connector as this link is for deans. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254834658859?epid=809402941&hash=item3b55544e2b:g:S0IAAOSwVddgAGju
I had a grasshopper back in the 80's and a DT01 Mad fighter in 2003 and I much prefer the looks of the grass hopper but I wouldnt want either of them again as technically they are very basic.
Video quality at the start looked a bit poor, thought you might be using an old camera? Also seems to be a lot more adverts than normal. Please please please get some shock pliers, so you don't damage the shock shafts. Looks like a great entry level kit 👌
I’m going to keep doing it as it doesn’t give me any problems my end. If someone wants to send a some I’ll use them but I’m happy sticking with what I have hehehe 🤪
This is DEFINITELY on my list!!
Wish id have thought about using my stand to fill the shocks up.I got covered in damper oil for the umpteenth time today building a tt02 yaris wrc.
Nice to see you float the decals on 👍🏼😁
Loved the video Gavin can’t wait to see part 2
I still need to film the buggy setting a time on the track.

It will be an interesting one and I have no clue currently how it’s going to turn out. 👍🏻👍🏻

I agree other manufacturers need to watch out for WLToys.

Great looking body, just to clarify I mean the car 😆

I’m starting to like the look of this
Another good vid - subscribed
Welcome Michael. Aero Avante build starts today 👍🏻
Awesome buggy

I wish Tamiya would design and release a third generation Hornet and Grasshopper that is as cool as the original. I'd also love a super hornet re-re.
That would be cool Zack
Looks great. Gauranga.
Magnifique !

It's water with washing up liquid.

Yep I’m living on the edge 👍🏻

Soap and water
Personally I would say spend the extra and get a tt02b
can you link a lipo 2s battery that will fit most tamiya models please

Oil shocks and Hornet style pivoting rear suspension...... Fighter RX all day long
Need to purchase yourself some shock pliers 🙈
My plan is to drive people so nuts about it, someone posts me a set hehehe
you should try getting into 3d printing so you can print your own body the way you think it should look...
I had a grasshopper back in the 80's and a DT01 Mad fighter in 2003 and I much prefer the looks of the grass hopper but I wouldnt want either of them again as technically they are very basic.
Rckicks can you do a review on those Tamiya Formula 1 cars? I just bought one but have not seen any good reviews that I like.
He has built and reviewed a few last year.
The stickers are what makes this car because up till that point I thought it was an awful looking car.
I think Tamiya should have kept the original colours for this rere

You Might have the resolution set to auto. Adverts are automatically added by UA-cam.
@@RCKickschannel thanks Gavin, I'll check my settings 👍🏼😁
A DT03 is about the same price .
I can’t believe you still put bare needle nosed pliers on you shock shafts Gavin it makes me cringe every time 😆
I’m going to keep doing it as it doesn’t give me any problems my end. If someone wants to send a some I’ll use them but I’m happy sticking with what I have hehehe 🤪
Kugellager sind Pflicht.
Makes me cringe watching you use pliers on shock shafts 🙈🙈
Never been a problem
@@RCKickschannel I have damaged a few that was all. The scratches cause leaks sometimes
shock pliers are ace, I have a yeah racing set and its so much easier to do a build and rebuild
@@leehurst6922 How hard do you grab the piston? You don’t need to apply that much pressure to screw the eye on.
@@RCKickschannel depends on the shock
Great vid as always BUT that buggy is UGLY ,perhaps the younger and collectors must have it?
