As long as the plants are still small, and not root bound, feel free to grab one that has been overseeded and not thinned. I find you can easily tease apart the roots on peppers and get many plants for the price of one.
I was a slow starter this year, so I added some nursery Habaneros to this years collection.
Thanks guys. I know most of this but i still enjoy all the knowledge you give
I just found your channel. I enjoy it. I'm growing Carolina Reapers, Jalapenos, and Bell Peppers this year. Great advice on selecting starts.
I wish I seen this video before I grabbed my Red Fajita last week with tons of flowers. I placed in the ground and snipped of the branches with flowers and fertilizer and mulched it. No more buying peppers plants with flowered. Thank you great infor!
I started from seed this year for the first time with your helpful videos. I had so many extra plants I gifted them to friends and family. My plants are doing great.
That's great to hear! Hope you have a productive season ❤️🔥
I had a lot of seeds to start a big crop this year but due to family issues I was unable to start them. I finally bought several plants from a few different stores in the past week - sweet banana, hot banana, green bell, red bell, jalapeno, habanero. Also have tomatoes in - early girls, cherry, roma - and some butternut and zucchini. We'll see how the store bought garden does this year. Cheers.
I grow everything what goes to my garden From seed 😊
Very nice! It's a lot of work but worth it in the end
That was all good stuff for us to know. Thanks for sharing.
Good insights coupled with connecting visuals. Smooth editing and transitions too. I've gravitated towards larger plants automatically assuming they're ready to skip steps but now I see that they've not automatically the best choice. Pests...I skipped looking for them thinking that the nursery maintained a pest free environ. I'll pay more attention now. Thank you both
Last year I bought all my plants from nurseries. This year I started them all from seed: 15 each of Giant Marconi, Aji Limon, and Tabasco. Thanks for all the helpful tips.
Yeah, 45 plants from seed …. that’s some good savings over buying from the nursery. And you can easily try any variety that interests you in the future. Yay.
Absolutely 💯 💯 💯 💯 fantastic nice sharing
Thank you for great tips in every video
The tip about not buying seedlings with fruits or flowers was important for me. I have always let my plants, whether purchased as seedlings or my own seedlings from seed, fruit and develop flowers whenever they wanted to. This year though I am removing them until the plant is a decent size.
I enjoy you video and the great advice on picking seedlings. I am lucky to live next to the bedding capital of the world here in CT. When i look for different variety's, I have a choice of a few local greenhouses and farms. I try to support them through the year.
Biggest thing for me this year is checking for aphids. I had a few plants from more than 1 nursery last year that had aphids. I mostly only go to find rarer peppers though as I start everything from seed.
Is it just me, or is anyone else still tempted by those plants with early fruits or blossoms, even though we know that is the one not to get?
You’ll probably get over the temptation.
Plant em all. Let Mother Nature sort it out! 🤣😂🤣👍
@MrBrianj60 I got two of each that had two in the container. Going to experiment lol
Yep just you lol😂
@@jayortiz5589 I still pick them off, but they make my heart happy when I see them.
These tips are really helpful! I made my peace on not being able to grow from seed. I need them to have a little bit of a fighting chance😅 . I bought a bell pepper plant (from a supermarket...I know I shouldn't...but it was $3!) and I didnt think to check for pests. Well I had a full blown whitefly infestation on my hands a week later!
Oooof, sorry to hear that - it isn't the end of the world if you can keep the plants outside! Hopefully you can get some good bugs to help control the whiteflies
I love growing from seed but .. im not gonna lie my 1st 200 seeds of peppers I planted this year ALL DIED ... And now the 3ed round is doing great but they ARE JUST NOT READY TO PLANT YET but in a few weeks they will be going into the garden today I got the last little babys some time under the clouds to strengthen up ... I'd love to send in some pictures n videos of what I got going but I'm too busy lol
I bought a devils tongue and a leviathan scorpion this weekend. I’ve never heard of either pepper but am anxious to see how they turn out.
Those sound hot. I have never heard of them either. Hope you enjoy them.
Great to know! My cayennes from seed decided to not work this year & something ate what did make it out
If its getting to planting g time just go with Lowes or home depot or local green house n get plants i know its not the same but they will do better at this point
I’ve been doing everything wrong. 😂 here’s to doing better next year. I killed all my pepper seedlings by not transferring them fast enough and then they got root bound. and then I went for all the wrong things.
Hah! That's okay, it's easy to make mistakes, especially when the plants grow so quickly and life keeps on going
Nice tips. Though you should have mentioned the checking for pots with multiple plants. I saw that you showed it, but you didn't mention it 😄
Hi guys, great channel! Have an issue with my plants, maybe you can give me some advice. I have lots of flowers on my peppers, but after blooming they are drying and just falling off. Do you know what can be a potential issue ?
When you're bottom watering your peppers, how long do you usually soak them and what method do you use to remove the water when finished? I'm currently growing a cayenne plant and its doing very nicely but in 30 days i've only given it about 800ml of water since its initial repot into a 4 gallon (15 liters) pot ...thoughts?
I just purchased a small bell pepper plant, and didn't realize that the main stem was starting to rot right at the soil line. I think it was probably being overwatered at the store. I might try to cut the stem and root it to see if it can be saved. It's not worth making the trip back to where I got it. Lesson learned to check the plant closely!
I’ve had very young seedlings damp off and wilt over and die. But never plants with a couple sets of true leaves. Overwatering is a good suspicion. Live and learn. You know what to look for next time.
Hello
I am asking for your list of favorite tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers that will always be in your garden.
Question. What about really wrinkled leaves on the top of a bell pepper plant? I have one plant that has way more wrinkley leaves up at the top near the flowers than all my other plants. It looks extremely healthy otherwise. It’s just the top leaves look like a scrotum 😅
He shaved! 😂
So I hope you have expertise to share.. I started mixed pepper seeds from ebay a little late back in March and some are 3 inches or so tall I'm hopeful for them, but my question is about the dinky ones I have that are literally months old but about an inch tall. Will my shrimpy plants produce anything before the fall weather sets in? They're acclimated and in pots. I have hot summers and 120 maybe more growing days left. Should i use some of that popular brand of blue plant food to pump them up? Thanks 🌶 🫑
I wrote this before watching the entire video! Oh well. Hope they aren't stunnted or anything.
I tried doing seeds this year instead of buying from a nursery. I'm hardening them off and they are all doing fine except one them goes limp and wilts immediately in total shade even in morning shade. If anyone has a clue what's wrong it would help me a ton.
Question! How big/tall do you let your pepper plants get before you allow them to start bearing Fruit?
Normally 2-4 weeks after they are in their forever home.
@@thagingerninjer5391 thanks!!😀
@@amandaandersen6900 you’re welcome!
If you wait to buy the Super hots will be sold out and its too late to plant seeds.
I found a pepper called "hot burrito"
😂 Whoever is in charge of naming these new hybrids has fun with it
Nothing too exciting. While picking up some roses, i decided to get a 4 pk of cherry bomb peppers. I have 2 other nurseries that i am curious to see what peppers they have that i dont have seeds for
It is always fun to see what new stuff comes through the nurseries each year - maybe we'll grow some roses next 😁
I bought a cherry bomb last year. I thought they tasted fine, but I was not a fan of all the seeds you get. There's like a 50/50 ratio of seeds to fruit.
The most annoying thing that happens every now and then to my chilli pepper plants is stem rot, verry, verry, verry annoying I can tell you!!
