He's right though. This is just my opinion and you can ignore it completely. I also think that he only got 'famous' because his grandfather was the great Prokofiev.
I assume the original comment complains not only about him Getting famous because of his Name but also because this piece is quite atonal and dissonant at some parts, to which People nowdays seem to be more allergic than ever... Why should he not compose just because there's someone in his family who had gotten famous before?
I wish other composers would see composing more as a craft again rather than a childish flamboyant display of noises! ~Strudwick the classical composer
I'll go back to practicing my quarter notes on my normal bass drum part now
Imagine your grandfather being Prokofiev.
Prokofiev's grandson...NO WONDER!!! lol
I confess that the violin has its charm, but the bass drum has a soul.
My horn teacher was the principal horn in Princeton Symphony for years.

Sergei Prokofiev's grandson! WOW!
I'd be interested to see what the score looks like....
It was a 36" drum, with importantly a 'free floating' cradle and some carefully chosen and prepared REMO heads.
Would be nice if the drum shell was free floating as well...
this really has a visual art component in addition to the aural part of the art. i'd like to see a composition for thunder drum.
