    Five bands took part:
    Brentwood Imperial Youth Band
    Hertfordshire Show Band
    Burgess Hill Marching Youth
    Medina Marching Band
Pride of The Southland, University of Tennessee.
First band to be eliminated was Hertfordshire Show Band.
1st semi-final featured Brentwood and The Pride of Southland with the Tennessee band going through.
2nd semi-final featured Burgess Hill and Medina with Medina going through.
The final was hard fought between the visitors from Tennessee and the band from the Isle of Wight with Medina coming out eventual winners.

Well that was interesting! Completely different styles. Myself, I prefer the Precision, Technical Ability & Unison of the British Bands Style to the Razzamatazz, Showmanship, Size & Free Form Style of the Tennessee Band. Probably a Cultural thing & what I'm used to. The Tennessee Band would be fine for a Mardi Gras or Street Parade but for the sort of Military Style Marching, Drill, or Ceremonial Pomp & Circumstance Style, it has to be the British Style. Marching Bands, Brass & Pipes & Drums Competitions here in NZ, are as you would expect, the British Style. A lot of work goes into the Choreography & Drill, so each Band is perfectly timed & all movement is together. The overall look is each Musician is a perfect mirror copy of each other & the entire Band looks like 1 entity. The USA style would be fine for a Santa Parade, the Blossom Festival or the Harvest Festival but it would not do for the ANZAC Service, Competition Parade or Civic Parades here. If nothing else this video serves to high light the fact that while the 2 Styles are different, they are still enjoyable & all these Bands show Top Class Ability of their own Style. But how you could possibly compare them I don't know, you could certainly contrast them. All of them would be extremely Competitive in their own styles. I hope the Tennessee Band enjoyed its trip over! WTG Medina! Congratulations!

Thank you for posting. The Ohio University Marching 110 is attending London Band Week in 2024. Great to see what the event will be like.
