    WOW! That has to be the coolest flute I have ever seen. It brings me so much joy to remember when my Boys were little. I would listen to them play Minecraft, the toys, the TV movies... They still play it and tried to teach me how to play. Watching this video makes me smile remembering. Awe! 😁
    On another note, there were times in the video where it looked like there was a lot of smoke. Made me concerned for the two of you. Hope you're all well. 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️

    Thanks to you and everyone behind your channel. i just finished my first built, learned tons in the process, and got a 9 hole flute in f that sounds... ok! Can't wait for the next one and to make one even better. I've been bingwatching your videos since I discovered your channel about a week or so ago! Thanks again!

      A 9 hole flute???

      @raystackon5113 yes i know, not exactly aligned with the theme of this chanel but what can i say i got excited! It's a modern 6 holes on one side and the same 3 bottom holes (with or without plugs) on the 'drone' side, it's a lot of fun to play but no, not 'better' than a single 5 hole flute ; )

    This is cool. I've been experimenting using a table saw to "route" out flute grooves by doing a cove cut. It makes a parabola on each side, but seems to work. Just made a little flute/whistle out of some scrap redwood that was sitting under my shed for about a year. 🙂

    Would you ever make a flute out of stone?

    • @BlueBearFlutes

      @@ChrisLeeW00 I have a video of me playing a flute made out of obsidian from Mexico that a friend of mine owns. I don't know that I've ever shared this video with the public but I probably will one day. I certainly would consider making one myself but it's an awful lot of work!

    Please excuse my ignorance, is red pipestone significant because of the association with the garden of eden theory, or is there additional significance with it? it seems like a very interesting topic and I'm just curious! Loved the video by the way, have wondered if a square flute would work and you answered that question, very neat!

    • @BlueBearFlutes
      @BlueBearFlutes  4 місяці тому +4

      @cf8979 Hey, no worries on the question, it's a natural idea that anyone who doesn't know should ask. Judging by you're attentiveness to what I have already said, you do pay attention which is important and that is a level of respect that I completely owe you my own answer to your question. I say my own because others may offer a different answer. Just as someone in a religious ceremony anywhere in the world may have a different answer about their experience in the ceremony, I advise you this may be the same as well. All that aside, it's kind of like asking someone to describe the color blue. If someone answered it is not red or yellow, they would both be correct as well as describing the color blue. I believe in the case of the Garden of Eden theory, it was based loosely on historic natives original description of it being some of the "blood of the Earth". And honestly, after spending much of my life carving this stone (you may notice I never have it for sale anywhere), and especially smelling it and knowing what the smell of old burial grounds it's like, it is familiar and very special to me. In today's society an idea like that would be considered morbid however to me, it helps me remember all of those who came before me. Imagine if you had a photograph of all those people, imagine if you had an item that they had made, now imagine that you have part of those people with you. That's what it's like for me. Thank you for your question and your respectful way of asking it.

      @@BlueBearFlutes hi, sorry for the late response. Thats a very interesting and beautiful story and sentiment behind the significance of the pipestone. Thank you for sharing!
      I recieved a flute I ordered from you today, I love it so far. Only had a few minutes to try it out before work but I'll play it more tonight. Much thanks!

    So where does one get or find black stone for a pipe? I have a pipe made from deer antler that was a gift. I received it for performing a wedding ceremony. I really don't want to smoke it because of it's significance and I would love to make one out of stone. Thanks for the inspiration.

    • @BlueBearFlutes

      @jdedmnds1 I used to have a couple of groups I would buy it from, but they've all since closed. A quick search for "steatite for sale" found some nice pieces for sale on etsy however. If you can't find any, email me 😉

      @@BlueBearFlutes Thanks I will check it out. I bought your book a few years ago and it is awesome. I am a tribal member of the western Cherokee nation of Arkansas and Missouri. I am only partial native but I learned a lot about the Cherokee when I was a member of a drum group. We were called the Eagle Ridge Singers.
