    Boy I miss those golden tonsils of Tony Grieg. I rue the fact I never bought my bat with me to the Adelaide Oval when I was 14. That day, he was walking over to the commentary box. He was a giant of a man, easily 8 foot, and such a gentleman. It was the only time I met him in person. Vale Tony Grieg.

      I think you mean 6’8”. In fact Tony Greig was 6’7”. Still, very tall for a batsman. Australia’s new boy, Cameron Green is the same height.

    Wow, that is good timing. Missed watching the day's play today, but I like what I see here. Nice pivot and a classical off-spinner's action after a long, long time indeed. Even though it was a dust bowl (even Herath looked penetrative), the young lad deserves all the credit.
    Good areas and that caught and bowled was the icing on the cake!

    He is the most TALENTED bowler we have now in domestic cricket. Hauritz can't impart spin on a usual basis if he had an hand transplant from Graham Swan, Doherty is perfect for ODI cricket but not talented enough for test, Krezia was my favourite but has not shown that he has improved on his accuracy (that is not leaking runs constantly), Beer is a joke, O'Keefe is the run of the mill left armer. The domestic leg spinners are un-tallented. I wish we utalised Brad Hogg and Beau Casson.

    That pitch is as good as it gets for spinners, so shouldn't make too much of it. He bowled very well though, and he's got good variation. As the twelth spinner tried since the retirement of Warnie, it's about time the Aussies found a good one!

    @Bisharoeli
    I agree, and if Hauritz comes back to form after an injury, he can be helpful as the second spinner to Lyon, so Lyon can get as many chances as possible to prove that he can perform as the job of being Australia's top spinner requires anywhere.
    They cannot expect to axe a spinner if Australia lose a series even if the spinner is not at fault, i.e. The Ashes in England, specifically one test where they didn't pick a spinner and Graeme Swann blows away the Aussies.

    Also, there is a good chance that Australia finally found the spinner that can performs in the subcontinent, not only Australia or the other countries. But they have to remember that Shane Warne have difficulty with getting wickets in India, so let's see what happens after the Test series in India in 2013. Meanwhile, let's hope that the new selection board won't do a spin-a-rama with different spinners from Hauritz to Beer to Lyon.

    Nothing against Lyon, but seriously. Sri Lanka cannot handle a guy who averages 40 plus with the ball in first class cricket? Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan - fat flat track bullies with bloated averages. One wonders how they would have fared in the 1970s or 80s. Pakistan were far far superior in the 1970s - they actually fought the Windies tooth and nail in the Caribbean in 1976-77 against a lethal pace attack (Roberts, Holding and Croft). How would these Sri Lankans have performed?
