Felt extra strange today knowing when I clicked I wouldn't be hearing David's voice, but Francis and Dom, Roland, Hamish DBD and others will keep the torch burning and fighting the good fight
I only learned of David's passing yesterday, ironically via Sky News not the podcast. Few things get under my skin and cause palpable shock, but this news did. I didn't know him, I just knew his voice from the podcast, but his talent, humanity and modesty shone through and as an avid follower of the podcast from the start, I grew very used to hearing his calming voice. The podcast is a wonderful thing, which provides a light and some humour in the darkness drawn from the evils being done by Russia. Please keep things going. RIP David.
Having listened to the Podcast almost every day since the beginning, I was especially moved by the tributes to David Knowles expressed in this episode. 'Ukraine: The Latest' is journalism, analysis and reporting at its best.
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of such a great reporter and he and his reports will be missed. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
The quote from Tolkien is really suited to David, who always talked with modesty and compassion. “I have found that it is the small everyday deed of ordinary folks that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit All our condolences from France
This podcast is 100% going to be an immensely valuable part of the historical record. Particularly when it comes to providing context to just data which may be available looking back once this is all over.
After today's podcast I am, even more than I already was, having a strong sense that David Knowles crossed over to be with the tens of thousands of fallen Ukrainian (and even British) heroes, who suffered an untimely passing, due to hell on earth 😭 May they all bask in divine love and light. I wish for the same divine love and light to overcome the darkness of evil we face in this world. We should all be basking in love and light, also while we are physical beings. Thanks for being a loving, compassionate team, with that very vision.
I listen to this pod on the sly while at work everyday, Roland's tribute made me weep at my desk. As much as I "enjoy" this podcast I cannot wait till the day I no longer need to. Sadly isn't not on the horizon so this podcast continues to be so, so relevant and important.
David will be profoundly missed by those he touched through his work. Ukraine The Latest is a daily staple for me living in the United States about the war in Ukraine and it will be part of his legacy.

Such a brutal shock to lose David! To me, he was "only" the voice of an imminently reasonable person suggesting that beyond the madness he reported, lay a more rational world, finer and more human. Such a fine voice! And it was only reading the obit, and listening to this podcast, that I discovered what a fine person, what a remarkable personality lay behind it! I will never hear it again -- live. But I hope to hear its echoes as "Ukraine -- The Latest" guides us through all the coming madness until, hopefully, humanity prevails.
Deeply saddened by the loss of such a fine journalist. His work will live on in my memories - voice, words that convey in a simple yet the subtle nuances of his work what I could not see.

I would like to add my condolences to family, "work family" and friends on the untimely passing from this life of David Knowles. "Ukraine - The Latest" is the only part of his oeuvre that I knew of - as a regular and at times a daily listener, from Ireland, since the full-scale invasion began - and almost from his voice alone, it was clear to me that this was going to be journalism of towering integrity. I am so enjoying (if that is an appropriate word in aftermath of his loss ) hearing the reminiscences of David's colleagues. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.
Having heard about David’s faith, forgiveness, and his vibrant decency, I must admit that this brought me huge comfort and joy as a fellow believer. It reassures me that David is now in the presence of his Father God and his Saviour! In fact, he has reached his Finish Line in this earthly life. I am so so happy for him and I look forward to seeing him again! I am also inviting everyone who reads this to open a Bible and to receive the gracious offer of forgiveness and salvation from Christ.

I'd like to hear some discussion on the Elephant in the Room.
