I only learned of David's passing yesterday, ironically via Sky News not the podcast. Few things get under my skin and cause palpable shock, but this news did. I didn't know him, I just knew his voice from the podcast, but his talent, humanity and modesty shone through and as an avid follower of the podcast from the start, I grew very used to hearing his calming voice. The podcast is a wonderful thing, which provides a light and some humour in the darkness drawn from the evils being done by Russia. Please keep things going. RIP David.

After today's podcast I am, even more than I already was, having a strong sense that David Knowles crossed over to be with the tens of thousands of fallen Ukrainian (and even British) heroes, who suffered an untimely passing, due to hell on earth 😭 May they all bask in divine love and light. I wish for the same divine love and light to overcome the darkness of evil we face in this world. We should all be basking in love and light, also while we are physical beings. Thanks for being a loving, compassionate team, with that very vision.

I feel very sad at his loss, his warmth, voice & amazing ability to communicate must surely put him up there with the best & greatest of war journalists & reporters. His family, loved ones & fellow Telegraph co-workers should be immensely proud of his work.
I do hope his introductory words & so familiar voice to us all to this podcast can in time continue to be used as THE introduction as a lasting & daily memorial. 🙏

Such a brutal shock to lose David! To me, he was "only" the voice of an imminently reasonable person suggesting that beyond the madness he reported, lay a more rational world, finer and more human. Such a fine voice! And it was only reading the obit, and listening to this podcast, that I discovered what a fine person, what a remarkable personality lay behind it! I will never hear it again -- live. But I hope to hear its echoes as "Ukraine -- The Latest" guides us through all the coming madness until, hopefully, humanity prevails.

I would like to add my condolences to family, "work family" and friends on the untimely passing from this life of David Knowles. "Ukraine - The Latest" is the only part of his oeuvre that I knew of - as a regular and at times a daily listener, from Ireland, since the full-scale invasion began - and almost from his voice alone, it was clear to me that this was going to be journalism of towering integrity. I am so enjoying (if that is an appropriate word in aftermath of his loss ) hearing the reminiscences of David's colleagues. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

David Knowles passing reminded me of a poem I once wrote, regarding another time, another war, but it seems, still as valid. My condolences to his family and friends.
I was a casualty of war
though I did not fight with a weapon in hand
did not hide from screaming shells
or had to say “I knew this person, which is now dead.”
I was a casualty of war, because it took away time
for the creation that could have been made
    and war, took that away.
My wounds are far less deep than others
my future was not simply switched off
by a piece of metal, randomly making it lost
    I am a walking wounded
    for a war started,
    why, I can not comprehend
Nor the endless - that are no longer
suffering the greatest wound of all
the clock taking a final tick - so broken it had to stop.

Well, ZB bit the grass a _LONG_ time ago. As _is_, his daughter admitted as such herself (your - respectively, ZB's quote) during a clip on MNSBC. Thank goodness, we have more information available at our fingertips now than at any _other_ time in history. The challenge is to filter _quality_ sources from trash ones.

I will be tuning into the European resilience initiative channel this Saturday at noon for their drone donation marathon, Jake bro. And Starsky etc. That is in between the Wisconsin Alabama game, the South Carolina LSU game, and the Florida State Memphis game

years and I hate football or watching sports. @@searchingforsanity4170 I haven't had a tv in almost 20 years. I prefer podcasts so I can do stuff and be productive while I'm listening. And I live in Europe and couldn't be bothered watching stupid American tv. There's enough of that online already.

Maybe to achieve maximum results from long range allied weapons it takes procedures that only US or German (Taurus) techs can perform - such as coding from awacs. This would amount to NATO directly targeting facilities in Russia. Just speculating on my part
