Whenever I try to make a cosmopolitan the flavors don't balance and all that comes forward is a ton of vodka, but you were so right to add more cranberry juice! Not only did it brighten the cocktail more, but it balanced the flavors very well too! Thank you for making a cosmo I can actually enjoy!
Thanx for this video. I am now a pro at this drink as of today since we on quarantine and all bars are closed, what better way then to make ur own drinks at home 👍🍸
For real, I struggle with the peeler in my bar so bad that when I saw how well it glided through that peel, I had to order it. And it suggested new pour spouts and a wine key so.... here's to dropping $45 on the bar I don't even own. Don't drink and prime folks.
My recipe (40ml vodka, 30ml cointreau) has a bit more lime juice (20ml) and some sugar water (10ml), but I tend to agree that there needs to be more cranberry in there to be refreshing (+- 50ml to 70ml works for me)
Hi Steve, can u make videos about what is liquor, liqeur... What is vodka, gin, rum, req etc... I think its nice to make video lesson for beginner... Thx dude
I just did one with merely 20ml of cranberry juice and I agree with your suggestion of adding a bit more- with just 20ml it's a bit too sweet from the triple sec. 30ml would've been much better. Cheers from Poland Steve! Go visit Mount Kościuszko ;)
Being a fan of all things tart I really enjoy this drink. When I make it at home I like to use a 100% Cranberry Pomegranate juice. You can taste the cranberry, the pomegranate, the lime, and the orange all at once. So good!
In Norway I seriously can’t find 100% cranberry juice, only weak stuff from concentrate. So I used a raw bluberry juice instead and it tastes incredible! Very fresh but also sweet. I call it the Norwegian politician 😎
Hey Steve, went to try making this but only had Pomegranite juice in the fridge, I just called it Cospomolitan! Try it out, i think I need some adjustments
for my cosmos, i do a 2, 1.5, 1, .5 mix. I also don't like them sweet, I actually like tart. So i sub cointreau for triple sec. I use 2 ounce vodka, 1.5 ounce cranberry, 1 ounce triple sec, and half ounce lime. When i'm at the bar though i make them with cointreau or citron vodka or both for the sweetness, I just personally don't like it. and i undercut everything a little so it all fits in a glass.
Is "Bols" triple sec a good sub for cointreau? what do you guys think? Also for some reason, in my area pure cranberry juice is extremely expensive... argh
Can someone help me out please :) What is the reasoning for burning off the sulphur from the matchstick before lighting the orange peel? What actually is sulphur? Thankyou :)
Hi, Steve. Quick and possibly stupid question: that cranberry juice is supposed to be sour, right? It has no additional sweet or does it? I have these doubts related to pretty much every fruit juice added to cocktails. Whether its orange or pineapple juice for example. Not so much for the lemon or lime because those are squeezed at the moment. If I were to guess these added juices should be as natural as possible, problem is at the supermarket you usually can only find sugary ones. So... how is it? Thanks for the vids 👍
Are you in Aus? The one I used is Bickfords which is actually a “cranberry drink” instead of a “cranberry juice”... meaning it’s made of only 25% cranberry juice. I prefer to use Ocean Spray which is probably the most readily available. It’s dry and tart rather than sweet - avoid the Low Sugar version too as it tastes horrible!
Steve the Bartender Not even close! Portugal. Thing is: most supermarkets here don't even sell cranberry drinks. And the ones who do, are the sugar added ones. So if I actually want something cranberry related I have to go those stores that sell stuff for vegetarians or something along those lines. I imagine it's the equivalent to Whole Foods or something. Though not mainstream, quite the opposite actually. I got a hold of one bottle, very similar to yours, and was surprised because it was very tart. I didn't know whether the cocktail was supposed to be sweet or sour, therefore the doubt regarding juices was born. Thanks for the quick response.
I have the opposite problem. I used organic 100% pure unsweetened cranberry juice and it came out really tart. I tried a second one with the ocean spray kind and it was right on.
Hii sir I will shee your mocktail & cocktail recipes but I request you please you speak slowly because of your voice is going to on my head but you are very good bar tender good going sir 🙏🙏🙏
Made this.. love the flambé orange oil garnish. That's a game changer. I like my cocktails to be a bit more boozy, so I changed it like this and for me, this was perfect. For 2 cocktails: Lime: 30 ml Cointreau: 30 ml Vodka (Khortytsa Ukrainian vodka, because солідарність з україною): 100 ml Cranberry: 90 ml Not much difference to yours, but a bit more... Ooof.
Have a question, right after bartending school what’s the next step :/ get 6 months experience anywhere I possibly can or like only apply to good places that has good traffic
Haha, last time I leant it to someone I told them to be careful and literally 30 seconds later they’d sliced open their pinky!! They’re amazing but super sharp hey!
you could just use the ratios so it doesn't matter which units he uses. you can apply the same ratios to liters if you like ... though i wouldn't recommend it.. probably if he said parts you wouldn't be so confused... next time just pretend he is. the reason ounces are perfect is because the numbers are small.
You can't use just any cranberry juice. Many are bitter and nasty. The original calls for a citron vodka but that's not a big deal. Obviously, modify to your own tastes. My wife and I like them cranberry forward so: 2 parts citron vodka 1 Ocean Spray cranberry juice cocktail 1/2 Cointreau, 1/4 Lime Juice. optional : 1/4 Chambord for those who like a touch of raspberry

Yikes, isnt it obvious to add more juice if its too strong.

I'm the top bloke at work because of your tutorials. Cheers mate
Nice one Aditya! 👌
I loved the way you sold that peeler.
Came for the cocktail, left with a brandnew peeler

Steve you are the GURU my friend .
Why thank you.. 😊
Absolutely brilliant presentation, straight to the point . .bish bash bosh, done!
I've also seen this served with a candied cherry or normal cherry rather than orange twist. Nicely done.

made my first cosmo , must say it's delicious , thanks for the recipe
Amazing steve. .you are the best

That sounds like a great sub! I'd definitely give that a shake
So good! Just dont forget the chill Martini glass
In Norway I seriously can’t find 100% cranberry juice, only weak stuff from concentrate. So I used a raw bluberry juice instead and it tastes incredible! Very fresh but also sweet.
I call it the Norwegian politician 😎
Some products can be hard to find! So many companies produce juice from concentrate rather than fresh.. blueberry juice would be an interesting twist!
I would use cherry juice as a substitute
Yeah, and some companies add sugar or sweeteners
This drink, it certainly explains some of that Sex And The City lack of impulse control.
Hey Steve, went to try making this but only had Pomegranite juice in the fridge, I just called it Cospomolitan! Try it out, i think I need some adjustments
Love the name on that one! 😅

How do you get yours so colorful reddish. Mine coming out like pastel pink.
Can't believe this was 4 years ago, you haven't aged a bit since then!
Well the backlit sign on the left and the rose gold went out of fashion.

It’s a chemical and will leave a foul taste in your drink..
@@StevetheBartender_ Oh okay got it. Thanks Steve :)
The sulphur is needed if you want a fart flavored cocktail. The Fartini
Hey man amazing video. You inspire us make one cosmopolitan as well with four hands on it. Keep going 😍
Wow! Amazing recipe, I will try it, this is my favorite drink.
Steve. Bought my OXO peeler. Everyone loves this cocktail
You won’t regret it - just watch those fingers!!
I’m not gonna lie this seems like a fake comment🤔
Awesome video m8. Made it today and it was gr8
amazing love it great one the fire part was the best.
Vietnam makes Cosmopotitan cocktails according to the recipe:
50ml Vodka
45ml cranberry juice
30ml Cointreau
25 lime juice
2-3ml sugar
What’s the point of the flamed zest if you use another part of the peel for garnish? Is it to serve as a spectacle? Just wondering
I filmed this ages ago but the zest may have soot/blackened so I used a fresh piece..
Steve the Bartender thank you. so typically you’d use the flames zest as a garnish as long as it hasn’t been burned.

I like a burnt peel in a manhattan but will have to try this also. This is literally fire!
Fiiire!! 🔥
Thank you for your training.
EZ way to remember cosmo for beginners is to remember a margarita but with vodka and cranberry juice
Hii sir
I will shee your mocktail & cocktail recipes but I request you please you speak slowly because of your voice is going to on my head but you are very good bar tender good going sir 🙏🙏🙏
Quick & easy, thank u 😉
Love this drink its so cool and amazing

Thank you excellent 👍👏

If i have to make the cosmopolitan for a party.. can you tell me the qty for 2 bottles of vodka?
I like to make,Sir Thanks for your sincely

Try it with a citron vodka the taste is way better
Thank you, dies it matter if you use 50 ml of vodka? Abd 20 ml of triple sec?
It depends on your or your guests palate, but I personally wouldn't worry too much about it. It'll still make a great cocktail.
@@Barprints many thanks 😊
@Steve the bartender can you make a rose martini? I had one once at a fancy restaurant in Pasadena and it was elegant and yummy at the same time
Amazing 🥂
I'm getting my bartending license soon and you are helping me so much
Is it possible to subtitute triple sec instead of cointreu to mix cosmopolitan.im a bartender here in philippines.
Yes you can.. Cointreau is a premium triple sec.
Love ur vids.
Have a question, right after bartending school what’s the next step :/ get 6 months experience anywhere I possibly can or like only apply to good places that has good traffic
Lmao when he just started tasting his peeler. Your videos are the best mate, thank you. I have a job trial tomorrow hhh
Dunno why, but I found this to be one of the best instructionals from your channel. And one of the best instructionals on how to do the Cosmo. Thx!
Can i take real cranberry juice or does it have to be that plastic artifical stuff?
Perfect
What kind of brand of alcohol are those?
Good one 👍🏻
Why did I if the peel so satisfying, haha
So do I 😁
I always ptsd from those peelers since i was a dummy and shaved a nice chunk of my finger off with one

Isn't this made with lemon citron vodka?
The original was, yes: Cosmopolitan cocktail recipe

Cheers mate.😜
Vodka base top cocktail in the world
What's the second spirit you poured?
Cointreau. You can always find the ingredients in the description for every cocktail I make =)
Thank you. Is there anything I can use as its replacement?
Does the glass need to be chilled?
If you like 👍
Where can I get that strainer?
the tv show that popularised it was Sex *and* the City but everyone calls it sex in the city for some reason
what makes the double strain more effective for the drink?
Mobile Mixers so you don’t get chunks of ice through the drink
really amazing, my gay friend wants one rn
I know it’s part of the Martini family. I just forgot if you shake it or stir it
What’s it taste like
I love how his name is Steve 😅
Thank you handsome.
I even saved the vid on my list. :)
I order one every time at the bar. Then I say "just kidding I'll have an old fashioned"

Lol, thanks Nakul!
Can someone write the receipt in ounces please
Lol, you want someone else to do the work for you? 30ml = 1oz
Suposed to be citron vodka, though...? 🤔
Where was the smile?
Yummy 😋💕
I think that’s the worst product placement/ad I’ve ever seen 😂 very good video tho! Thanks.
It's too red ...it supposed to be pink.
Cosmo should be bubble gum pink not any darker.
I do mention the volume of cranberry within the video..
More lime imo. Drink doesn't have much else besides the orange and lime flavors
Thanks for the dash of lime - cran juice is a bit tart as it is
Wtf is a milliliter?
Also, my new peeler should be here in 3 days.
