Good morning Tayo and thanks for keeping us educated and keeping the Yoruba culture alive. I need help for “Ekun Iyawo” or “Rara sisun”. I want to organize an Ekun Iyawo or Rara sisun session at an event. Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers.
Guess what you are really want "recommended" are books on evil invaders and criminal colonizers? lol The Missionaries and Militaries of those evil invaders are 'Twin Evils' to Torment, Terrorize and Traumatize Africans and African societies .... TO THIS DAY! 1. Colonialist Missionaries attack the Minds of their victims. 1b. Missionaries were the main demons to agitate for Africans to be invaded and kidnapped into slavery and sex-slavery. 2. Colonialist Militaries attack the Material/Physical aspects of their victims; with violence, plunder, Death, Domination, Dictation, Destruction and DISPLACEMENT. Nigeria is a big fat mess today PRIMARILY on account of the unprovoked invaders along with their foreign and mind-weakening and mind-wasting religious rubbish ... of all kinds.
Ooni was never a son of Oodua. He was a high priest in Ife. He took the crown after Ooduas transition since none of Ooduas children was around to remain on the throne. Oranmiyan was not a grandson of Oodua but a son. Akanbi was not a son of Oodua neither was Lamarudu the father of Oodua. Oodua had many sons from many wives, including Owa of Ilesa, Ajibogun.
Whether he was a son of Oodua is irrelevant. Ufe throne is what's superior not who sits on it. Before Odùduwà there were other kings in Ife as well, so who says the Ooni must be a descendant of Odùduwà??
Hi! Great work and thank you for this analysis. But I think the question was not really answered... Yes, Oranmiyan who founded Oyo was a descendant of Odùduwà. But is Ooni also a descendant of Odùduwà?
You are so on point....I would like you to also explain the relationship between Oranmiyam and Ile-Ife because they have connections .he even had connections to Benin
I so much love your work sir. I just don't know why a beautiful channel like this that demistifies certain Yoruba questions/concepts doesn't get as much views as expected 😅. I however doubt Oòdùwà(proper spelling) or Oranmiyan were actual historical persons. They were deities, and I think they are meant to be symbolism in the Yoruba oral history, as with many other cultures, the stories begin with the gods
How is Ooni the father of Alaafin or Oranmiyan though? Even if you get to Ile-Ife, Ooni is referred to as Arole Oodua - someone who held the house in Oodua's absence. Ooni isn't related to Oodua by blood. He took over after everyone left to found other kingdoms. Ooni is not superior to Alaafin in any way. In precolonial times, Ife was a division under Oyo. This continued till colonial times. Even after independence, Ife remained under Oyo until 1991. Those who can claim a bit of superiority include the likes of Olowu of Owu and Orangun of Ila both of whom are Oramiyan's elder brothers. But, since Alaafin is an Imperial Majesty, there's little they can do. Ooni only lived in Oodua's house as an adopted child which is, in itself not bad. But that doesn’t make him superior to Iku Baba Yeye.
The answer is not correct. Ọọni Risa is not the grand father of Alaafin of Oyo. Ọọni Risa was never part of the 7 children of Okanbi, the only son of Oduduwa. Ọọni Risa is a great king indeed, but the two cannot be compared because they had different historical background.
What are you talking about? We are talking about thrones and historical rulership and where they ruled. On what basis are you basing your conclusion? Did Oduduwa rule in Ife or not? Was Oranmiyan the first Alafin a descendant of Oduduwa or not? So how can the throne of a grandson be greater than that of his grandfather? Without Oduduwa, would there be an Oranmiyan? Or are you saying Oduduwa was never king in Ile Ife? We are talking about the position of Yoruba cities by tradition. How can Oyo or it's ruler be above Ife? Whoever is the Ooni is ruling on the throne of Oduduwa. That is the way to view it. Not whether someone else who was not a descendant of Oduduwa ruled Ife. Ife is where Oduduwa ruled.Oyo is where his grandson founded. Traditionally the throne of a son cannot be greater or of superior authority than that of his father or grandfather. Ife is a more ancient city than Oyo. Ife has remained permanent without change of location.Oyo has been changing location. It has only remained permanent in name.

No, no, and total no, ooni of ife, his not part of oduduwa children's, fine oromiyan is the first king 👑, in oyo, ooni was a chief priest in ile ife, when oduduwa die, i mean (oba waja) none of oduduwa children's was around that's why ooni became king 👑, that's why alafin of oyo, say he will not bend down, for the rules of ooni of ife, oyo don't deny that they are from ife, but there problem is the first king they crown after the death of oduduwa, but still one love 💕

ALAAFIN are the representative of oranmiyan

Ooni is the first largest crocodile 😂

You're following your secondary story about oduduwa
Oduduwa was never had a son called okanbi
Oduduwa have many many wives
