    This one is a monster! Fascinating device! I kind imagine how exciting would be to buy one unit like this back in the 50's and listen to it for the very first time. Thanks for sharing!

    My HH Scott integrated tube amp has that compensator control on it too. It really comes in handy with 78s. What a beautiful clean unit.

    Has the Conelrad markings on the AM Band at 640 and 1240kc. Always neat to see those on older units

    That's what blew me away. The entire room looks like 1960 which is awesome! Love the green rotary dial telephone. Nice touch there. This console is amazing, looks like it just left the factory (which in 1958 would be Franklin Park, Illinois if I'm correct and not some sweatshop in China).

    Bloody hell that unit can really kick out some sound, I bet it sounds BEAUTIFUL!! if you are in the room, that's an awesome rendition of "Memories Are Made Of This" too, it's in ABSOLUTE TIME WARP CONDITION!! too, 65 years old and it looks the same as it did the day it was made, boy I would love one of these ❤❤

    What a super find, "drh"! I never understood why this medium fell by the way side....These units had such a full and rich sound like no other! The good news is that vinyl is making another come back these days...Hopefully our kids will be turned onto discovering our sounds from the past! Thanks for this upload and the share! (Mario)

    Very nice stereo! I've always liked the quality of those Motorola consoles. I recently picked up a '60 model that has the three channel amp, vibra-sonic reverb, and swing out speakers that close up when the set is not in use.

    Increible el sonido que tiene, un aparato de aquella época. Muy buena tecnologia, me encantaría llegar a tener una máquina de esas, no solo por decoracion, si no el gusto de tenerlo, verlo y oirlo sonar. Muy buen vídeo!!!

    What a Great Set! Love the Blond cabinet... rare, also the Gold V Of M Turntable you can't beat them, even modern turn tables don't compare... was in Best buy the other day and was suprised by the return of vinyl albums , store employee told me that people are finding out that digital does not sound as good as the analog sound. This is one medium that will make a comeback over today's technology.

    what a rare find that was . The finish isn't the imiation blond it is real limed oak, and It is really rare to find a 1950's limed oak anything where the finish hasn't turned yellow., and still has that nice blond look. That Motorola is a real 1950's classic.

    @jdollinter This is how it looked when I got it. The original owners just bought it and never touched it. It was in a large wealthy home and was in one of those rooms that was for show that nobody ever went in. I was the first to service it and it didn't need much other than a new idler tire to fix the phonograph. I believe stereophonic Hi-Fi's first came out in 1957, so this is indeed a very early unit of the stereo age.

    I'm old enough to have grown up with the great Motorola console Stereo my mother had from 1967. Her first major purchase it was all that and of course by 1967 equipped with FM stereo & solid-state electronic's and quite powerful at a 100 watts per channel. Featured a 12 inch cone woofer's horn loaded midrange, and cone loaded tweeter's and boy she could get up and boogie for the time. I'm an audiophile and into music in big way thanks for your great video's of all thing old. :) Motorola's would

    Thank you for sharing this. I just bought a 1959 Motorola console 3 Way Stereo..the immediate difference I see is that my turntable is on the left and the AM/FM is on the right...I haven't looked at the specs on it as of yet but i need to do that. My turntable looks just like yours. Thanks again. These consoles are so wonderful to play. I am a late baby boomer so I feel a kinship with them. I loved the Coniff stuff too! So many records to explore!

    Beautiful piece of furniture there! I do like the lighter colored wood. I still like the idea of "loudness" control instead of "volume" control used now. I love how you use music from the era's of the tv's and the stereo's you show, really adds more to the pieces you show!

  • @kraftpr
    @kraftpr 10 років тому +2

    Did they use 12" or 15" woofers/hifi speakers in this? My parents bought a Motorola hifi mono unit about 1957-58 and it had a massive 15" Jensen hifi speaker with 3 midrange/tweeters. My Mom listened to a lot of classical records on it -- what a sound! You need a subwoofer today to come close to the room shaking bass that 15" Jensen produced.

    DRH, you sure know how to pick 'em! What a gorgeous piece of equipment you have there! That 1958 Motorola sounds every bit as impressive as the late '50s "Magnificent" Magnavox's. I never thought I would be attracted to the blonde consoles, but after seeing and hearing yours, I could welcome one into my home with no problem whatsoever! Your Motorola looks brand-spanking new! And I can't help but love that shiny, stainless steel tonearm and shiny Motorola nameplate spanning across the front of the phono platter. Congrats on being in the right place at the right time at that estate sale! You did good, Sir! (BTW, gotta love that old-time rotary phone! My aunt still has one, too -- in basic black!)

    Wish I could get my hands on one of these old Motorola tube stereos from the early 60s. I heard a 1960 model with 3 channel stereo and in a drexel cabinet. The audio was awesome. Made old records sound the way they should compared to the way they sounded on decent solid state units where you tended to hear the surface noise and distirtion more.
