PDB Release Event - "The President's Daily Brief: Delivering Intelligence to the First Customer"

- On Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at a public event at the LBJ Presidential Library, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) released over 2,500 President's Daily Briefs (PDBs) from the administrations of Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. It was the biggest release of PDBs by the CIA, ever.
The event, entitled "The President's Daily Brief: Delivering Intelligence to the First Customer," featured CIA Director John O. Brennan as the keynote speaker. Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper delivered closing remarks. In addition, the event featured a panel discussion and remarks by other leaders from the academic, archivist, and intelligence communities, including William H. McRaven, Chancellor of the University of Texas System, former CIA Director Porter Goss, former CIA Deputy Director Bobby Inman, and others.

2015 feels like a million years ago
Unfortunately these agencies that provide the daily brief have evolved to a state in which they believe that they tolerate presidents (the people) vs serve presidents (the people).
As a side note:
Here, in the UK, we have something similar, written by the Chair of the Joint Intelligence Committee, whose key members are the heads of Intelligence for the RAF, Army, and Navy, plus the Directors of the Foreign Intelligence Agency (MI6) and Domestic Security Service (M15).
But this is where things get interesting. Copy #1, doesn't go direct to the Prime Minister; he gets Copy #2. Instead, #1 is taken, as inconspicuous as possible, to Buckingham Palace, and direct to the Private Office of the Queen.
Although the Prime Minister has the vast majority of the political power, the Monarch is still head of state, and so protocols is such that she is as informed as our Prime Minister is.
On top of that, Queen Elizabeth II has seen more Prime Ministers than any other Monarch in history. At 95+ years old, she should be slowing down a bit. But the other interesting thing about her getting Copy #1 is that, once a week, almost every week, the Prime Minister and Her Majesty meets for an hour, or so. No-one knows, since she began having those meetings, what is said, because there is just the two of them, with the meeting closed to even her Private Secretary, and the meetingis never, ever, recorded. Every Prime Minister since has rarely, if ever, mentioned what was said, and if perchance they did, suffice to say the diplomatic language of "we are not amused" is equal to "you bloody idiot; get your arse back here, now, and explain yourself ..." ...
But, seriously speaking, in all her years on the throne, there is very little about the inside baseball of British politics she _doesn't_ know, and even more so when it comes our Armed Forces (which every service person swears an oath to), and our Nuclear Deterrence ...
... even Margaret Thatcher, during the height of the Falklands War, still met with her, especially as the Queen was a teenage girl during WWII, and has seen every conflict since. In fact Thatcher described her, after one such meeting, as "a very remarkable woman" ...

I'd like to trust the intelligence community, but there have been many times when they've done something for the better of the people. Which then turns out to be experiments on people. I hope that has changed and really would never know unless I was a part of it. But I'm not really interested in that.

Some comments here show a huge amount of cynicism about the people we entrust to keep us safe in our beds at night. So easy to be cynical about other people. While of course imagining your OWN thinking is clear, honest and thoughtful. These people have dedicated a lifetime of study to their fields. Why assume the worst about their motives and competence?
The key part of what your saying that’s wrong is that “we” didn’t chose any of these people.
I think it's due to what has happened to our country and what they witnessed our former government agents do and or put into legislation. I'm young so I can't dislike these people, but somewhere along the lines I have a curious suspicion of them since the accuse Snowden of being a traitor which means they are clueless as to the depth of infringement of civil rights and privacy our government has started in tandem with major corporations such as FB, Google, Twitter, and UA-cam. When my gov't fails to protect me and also serve me as a citizen I have the right to dislike and distrust them especially when they are quick to lie about using personal information from every citizen of the country without reason or legal authority.

Here follow the reasons why I see following science as not being the right thing to do now: those promoting this concept either have a limited view or only want subordination from a wider angle! More and more Scientists find interactions with the Universe: these aspects are not defined the same way as most ground based logistics and require a higher more open common knowledge to be appreciated by the general public. This further step in knowledge may not deny feelings and intuitions and may not require to be followed but rather be accompanied as in going with the flow. This is saying that there is some sense when mentioning 'follow science' but both words have to adopt openly less control and more Universal Values!
