Actually it was 22 years ago this coming September to be honest when hauliers & farmers blockaded the oil depots & refineries in protest of high fuel prices & all because France did it & we had to copy cat them! PM Blair at the time said that he would not cut the tax on fuel & he threatened to bring in the Army if the protesters didn't end their protest soon & they ended their protest with an ultimatum to the then Labour Government to cut fuel tax within 60 days or they will be back but in the end public support dwindled & disappeared for the continued protests & they did come to a cessation eventually.

Did this in the uk 20 years ago, after a while the public turned on them so they stopped, then we carried on paying high prices.
