- Hello friend! I had an active Saturday, making a trip to a lovely forest called Mustavuori, picking mushrooms, and using them to bake a mushroom quiche.
It's peak time for funnel chanterelles in Finland. They're an excellent food mushroom and quite easy to find this time of year. They grow in forests that have lots of spruce trees, and I read that Mustavuori would be just the right kind of forest. That turned out to be correct, I found so many!
Helsinki has some wonderful nature spots near the city centre and I'm trying to start exploring more of them. If you're interested in the Mustavuori area that I visited in this video, you can find more information in English here:

Wow I had always been told to not pick mushrooms in the wild because the edible ones look so much like poisonous ones (not that I knew that much about mushrooms anyways). But now I see it is just fine to do that. I learned about funnel chanterelles today! And what types of forests and trees they might grow in! Thank you for your beautiful close up videography of the forest and leaves and mushrooms. And showing a recipe how to prepare your foraging! It was like a snippet of a documentary.
Thank you for the lovely comment! It’s important to be careful when foraging for mushrooms because it’s very easy to accidentally pick poisonous ones. But as long as you do your research and only pick ones you know for sure are edible, it’s a really great activity. 😊

Any porcini then? You can find very delicious mushrooms there. I cook mushrooms differently, so your video is a very educational.
I love porcini as well! The season for porcini is earlier than for funnel chanterelle, so I didn’t spot any on this trip. ☺️

My favourites mushrooms, love them. Never picked them, because I am not sure which ones to pick. Is that salmon, love that with cream cheese. Thank you for the walk in the forest. In the UK that now call that forest bathing

@@EmmiLa or take the kiwis out of the plastic and have them sitting next to the bananas on the plate. Bananas emit something as they ripen, and that will help the kiwis (and avocados) ripen too.
