Mons know that bouncing his tutor is the correct play 🤣🤣🤣 But he also knows that that you can do it back to the caster, because noone wants to lose to najeela Perfect sequence there
Francisco is definitely tricky to build with: explore does NOT equal card advantage. There are a couple of things I can think of trying: 1) lots of lands with thrasios and exploration. I think that would be either a survival and/or a hulk deck. No CZ sac outlet is difficult however. 2) ardenn equipment shenanigans. An early 10/11 commander will strike fear, and you have an easy deterministic combo. 3) What Pontus did, except probably play a few more lands. Ishai instead of kraum offers a lot of protection for your spells.
I was thinking maybe pair it with rograkh in like a low land count fast mana deck to do the explosive rakdos rograkh things but your other commander is part of a 4 mana investment 2 card kill the table combo
I still to this day don’t know why people consult for something that isn’t a wincon or a way to stop a win. Value consult isn’t good and you know it Pontus.
In no universe could he win at a table where every other player has a fish effect but him without some form of silence or extreme luck. It was a huge gamble, but his odds of winning holding onto a dead consultation were 0%, so turning it into a fish could get it as high as 10%+. He was literally dead without any action. His worst-case scenario was that fish was in the bottom 15-20 of his deck and he just loses, but he was just losing if he held onto consultation anyways in that boardstate
I actually think it was the correct thing to do. It doesn't look like a good outcome in this game. But he was in a tricky spot. And cEDh is about gambling (and other things to). I mean it is a card game. So we have to gamble for great success. And the chance of getting mystric remora without lossing all wincons isen't that bad.
I strictly disagree. Not using consult for value leaves value on the table and lowers your winrate overall. Maybe be more conservative in less wincondense lists but in most grixis lists it's completely fine. Id probably keep that line on a 6 still tbh
Thrasios/vial smasher player seemed to be all over the place. Chroming a Rhystic instead of letting fish die and casting Rhystic. Chain of vapor knowing it was gonna come back at him anyways. Idk just seemed like plays were not optimal.
I mean passing the turn tapped out with a rhystic vs passing with a remora and blue mana available for chain of vapor? Having chain of vapor active seems like a better choice imo, especially when there's a Najeela and a Heliod in play.
Pontus so proud of his deck he wants to show everyone what's in it 😂
Good game. Loved Mons saying " I'll show you how to deal with players like you" lol.
That is how you do it. Send it back to them.
So proud of Mons not falling for the chain of vapor bullying
The Interaction with Francisco, Ballista and Cauldron is neat.

Perfect sequence there
13:35 how did he pay for the mindbreak trap? Only one spell was cast...
Pontus taking that HARD dump was hilarious! ....but it was Pontus, so you still figure he's got a chance.
8:00 Mons forget to discard 8th card from hand at the end of turn
You go rhetoric! You are a beast!
Thank you!
Pregame hype!! Thrasios/Smasher !!!
Mons get Heliod, attack and pass turn with 8 in hands? or its just video cuts?
I discard cards later.

There can never be a new Rog/Si. Rog/Si for LIFE!!!!!
I agree! This is fake rog si!
No aftergame discussion? so sad :( But nice game, the outcome was not a big surprise with such big study/fish feeding and the very sad consult ...
We did one but it sadly had audio issues
Like pontus said. saddly bad audio ... at that point.
Well, naturally, when you can’t win the turn Derevi comes down with Najeela, the obvious action is to win with Thoracle :)
Yeah he drew into both combos.
damn, all of pontus good luck finally ran out this game
haha yeah! That demonic consult was sad.
Rhetoric with the Thoracle win. Sick game fellas.
Rhetoric, please cast your Remora before trying to combo off ;)
everybody wants a fish
Even so much that we are willing to die for it.

Lol was he supposed to mulligan down to 3 then? It was his best play. When chance is involved, sometimes you just get unlucky.
It was definitely the play on a mull to 4. You arent winning on a mull to 3 unless you hit a mystic remora and get very lucky
