Can you do more tutorials with watercolor pencils? This one is so beautiful and great 👍
My favorite gift was a Spirograph. It allowed me to create interesting shapes and another way to draw. Merry Christmas!
Oh Wow Kaarin! I had a Spirograph when I was about 10. You've just taken me back to some really good moments. Wasn't it mind blowing when you first used it, and the patterns you could create?! I used to be in awe hahaa...
My favorite gift was a Thumbelina doll. I wanted that doll for a long time, but the best part of receiving is to be so grateful that you are able to pass it on to someone who wants it just as much as you do and I did just that. I passed it on to my sister as soon as I opened it. My greatest gift that Christmas was seeing her joy when I gave it to her.
Not shopping in stores, so this is a TOTAL BLAST to be able to make my own greeting cards! You are a simply wonderful teacher (and I have taught adults) as you keep it simple, and empowering each step with calm reassurance. Thank you. Christie
And I've now done my very first watercolor picture..,thank you!
The year my very generous grandma died, I was ten years old. That year my father was out of work for 8 months as well. Before that, we were used to huge gift hauls and loved every minute. My ten-year-old Christmas gift was a Barbie and a music stand to share with my brother. He also got a GI Joe. This was my greatest gift because I finally realized all the love that went into the Christmases past. My mother sacrificed and saved from her grocery budget to get even those basic things for us. My gift was to see what love goes into sacrificing for your kids. It stuck. I'd sure like one of the gifts you showed but will be happy for whoever is lucky enough to get them.
The wonderful thing about art is it's so subjective and it's in the eye of the beholder. I appreciate different styles of art, some more than others, but it's such a beautiful creative outlet.
Thank you. I use acrylics but so interested in watercolours, I recently picked up some pencils but haven’t used them yet 😊
My favourite Christmas gift was a magic trick set! I wanted it so much and I was the happiest kid ever when I opened the gift!
Thank you so much for helping me using my watercolor pencils. I'm a beginner and always felt I had to work with color...Thanks
This was very cute. I can’t afford the class on drawing. Thanks for the offer and hope you’re doing wonderful, Shayda Campbell.
Omg thank you! I've been struggling with my water color pencils, I didn't realize to use the techniques you're using!
Just bought water color pencils for grandkids! After watching video I'm positive they will love using them.Going to try the flowers myself! Cant wait.
I've had watercolor pencils for a long time but never really used them.. now I'm inspired to..thanks Shayda.. love your work.. my favorite gift as a child was a baby cot.. it was floral plastic with lace lol..loved it.. thx again..
For many years at Christmas my parents would wrap up new, soft, cuddly pajamas for me! I looked forward to new PJ's every year and to this day my fondness for new pajamas continues! A simple gift that has turned out to be a special memory of my childhood in Massachusetts. Merry Christmas!
I received clay for Christmas one year. It was clay with the best texture I had ever felt up until that point in my life (I was around 13 years old). I only got two colours, red and blue, but I was so excited because it held shapes beautifully and wasn't as hard as other clay I had (also they were huge pieces!). So my imagination literally had no bounds as far as shapes go. I'm sure that moment sprouted all my love for clay. I, now 26, rediscovered the craft in the form of polymer clay and its the best thing since the blue and red clay because now I can bake it and my creations can live on and become useful!
The best gift I got when I was a kid was a giant Kinex set. I spent hours building things with it.
I am a beginner to watercolors, I found it so relaxing, my best gift as a child was crystal am radio that my dad helped me put it together. You could hook it on the window screen am pick up AM stations. Best gift ever.
The best gift I ever got was a baby alive doll when they first came out, and I got a highchair and baby carriage with her. Having a doll that could really eat was totally new and exciting and I felt like I really had a real baby. I would push her around in her carriage and put her in her high chair to feed her, and it was just magical. It was really special because my parents had 13 children and could not afford to buy a lot of toys for us for Christmas. My Mom and Dad had 5 children, they adopted 5 and we had 3 foster children for several years while there father was in prison. I never expected to get the doll with the highchair and carriage. I was just hoping and praying for the doll. Both of my parents died in the past few years and it makes the memory all the more special.
When I was about 5 years old I got my first bike. It was the girliest hot pink bike with white flowers, tassels at the handlebars, a white basket up front and of course a pink clown horn haha. Best Christmas gift ever!
My favorite Christmas gift as a child was a toy tin mixer...must be why I love to bake today.
My favorite gift as a child was a set of pencils, sketch pad and portfolio case. I had decided (at age 8) that I would grow up to be a fashion illustrator and this gift made me feel that I just might.
The best Christmas present I ever got was a battery moved puppy which barked, walked and sat. The controls were attached to the toy with a wire and I always pretended to be a leash. I got that 36 years ago and still have it. It works too!! I just need to change the batteries 😊
Happy Holliday’s to you and your Husband and family.
Christmas was our grandmother’s birthday. Looking back, the best gift we ever had for Christmas was our Grandmother or Bobonne as we called her.
Her gift was our joy in cooking and beeing creative. A gift she gave us for ever. She left us in 1986, but still lives in our hearts. Love from Belgium
Thank you Shayda for bringing water-coloring into my life :) I previously thought that watercoloring and painting is only for the talented people but your videos tell us that everyone can draw and paint and that art is a way of expressing ourselves :) Wish you have a happy Christmas and a wonderful year ahead with more video productions
Shayda, thanks for sharing the watercolor technique!! I love how you did the page!!! 💖
Just found your video - Too late to enter your give-away, but I wanted to say I enjoyed watching this. My favorite Christmas toy was the original Spirograph back in the 1960s. Yes, I am a senior citizen. I am going to try this watercolor technique with my Spirograph, which I still use to this day. Thanks for the inspiration of now trying out watercolor.
This is very cool. Best Christmas gift I got when I was a child was a little black white tv for my bedroom. Looking forward to seeing more of work
My favorite gift as a child was a light box for tracing. I traced fashion models from magazines and made them into paper dolls with my own designs for hats, coats, dresses, gowns, boots. I loved it! I got back into creating art again with adult color books and recently took a watercolor class. I am so happy to be creating again! I try to paint or learn something new every day!
Whimsical and fun! Great for greeting cards as well. Thank you! My favorite gift growing up was a Breyer horse: a beautiful rearing Appaloosa.
This is so whimsical and happy. I love this style. Best Gift I recieved as a child, the year my dad went shopping and picked out my gifts himself. Hot Pink earrings and a wallet in the same color.
I really love this! I'm actually going to try to draw some of the flowers from your spring flower and leaves tutorials in watercolor pencils using the shading techniques you describe. Thank you for sharing and teaching.
Merry Christmas! Enjoy watching you. This kind of lose painting I can do. Thank you for sharing. My favorite gift was my first kitty. Have not been without a kitty since. Bless you and yours!
Beginner! First time watching and 78 years old. Am ready to add to my coloring habit
You got this! Welcome to the channel :)
Great!!! I'm almost 70 and started watercoloring last year but not the pencils... will try now!!!
That's... really cute! And I can definitely agree, this seems like a great way to break into watercolor pencil. I'll have to give it a shot - this is really similar to a background I used to have on one of the avatar games I played (before the site shut down). That background was absolutely my favorite background out of probably every background item I've had in any game, it was this beautiful yellow and green gradient with simple line-less vines, water droplets, and fireflies. (there was also an indigo and cyan version of it that I loved too.) I'm often looking for ways to recreate it or at least its atmosphere and this seems like a perfect way to do that and help with my intimidation over traditional at the same time. Thank you.
Wow, I am a complete beginner and have watched this several times now to really study what you are doing….so many techniques here! I love it!🥰😍
Glad it was helpful!
My favourite Christmas gift when I was a kid, was a collage box. It was a wooden hinged box, with a handle, like a briefcase, and my parents had filled it with all sorts of crafting goodies, such as glue, different types of paper, gummed paper shapes, felt, scissors, etc. I loved it, and spent many happy hours making pictures with the contents.
This is my first time watercolouring and I love it. I live in a small city in Canada where they just opened a craft store and I am so excited. I live in New Brunswick. As I am just beginning a little extra supplies would be awesome. The best Christmas gift I received was a piano at twelve years old. I have always loved any kind of art, colouring, painting.I would so much love to receive this wonderful gift.
My favorite gift I got as a kid was a homemade dollhouse! It was incredible!! It even had light fixtures in it that actually worked!! I cannot wait to give this a try with my watercolor pencils! Would love to see more tutorials on this!!
Thank you so much for this video... I am a total newbie to watercolour other than as background for my calligraphy. This looks like I can give it a try with confidence.
Absolutely beautiful! I finally used my watercolor pencils for the first time today thanks to your wonderful tutorial.
I was so in love with watercoloring, scrapbooking, and drawing when I was younger. You have re woke that creative side of me again 😌❤️❤️ thank you!
Best gift I received as a kid was the option to either have a big gift or go on a big trip. I chose the trip and went on a trip to California to visit my maternal grandparents. My brother chose the big gift and got a Nintendo Entertainment System!
Thank you so much for this illustration!
Wow, I am a complete beginner and have watched this several times now to really study what you are doing….so many techniques here! I love it!
I love your beautiful art! Thank you for the wonderful tutorials!
Soooo I just completed my first ever watercolour with my new watercolour pencils and your tutorial 😁 eek I’m so proud.
Thank you to the moon x
This is where I wish we could share photos once we've tried it, on the thread. As I'm going to try today too! I'd love to yours!
That's what I thought...let me see your watercolor. Glad you tried it.
Can you do more of these tutorials? It's so good, thanks!!
I need to use my watercolour pencils more! Thanks for the inspiration. My favorite Christmas gift as a child was a dolllhouse with a little bluebird painted on the bedroom wall.
Wow loved how simple this was! My favorite Christmas present... mmm probably my first bicycle I got as a kid! It was a jewel too big for me in a gorgeous red color!
Thank you, i finished my attempt just now, and fairly pleased with it. I love your teaching syle!
The best Christmas gift I received as a kid, besides books, was my first oil paint by number kit. They weren't putting acrylic paints on those kits yet.
Awwww! 😊 The most memorable gift I was given as a child was on a Christmas that we had very little money or food and I received a feather pen. It was deep green and at least a foot tall. It was the most magnificently creative thing I had ever seen. And right there, my love of stationary began! ❤️ I still treasure that memory, so thank you for reminding me to stop a while and think back to where my delight first started!
Merry Christmas Shayda, sweetheart!
Thanks. I enjoyed the last watercolor flowers. You made them come to life with the pen illustration over the watercolor. I don't have drawing talent, but with ideas can give something small like that a try. I liked all my gifts as a child..many were supplies for DIY projects. A Charlie the Tuna plush rug was unexpected and a favorite too.
Shayda, I appreciate the way you share and teach these techniques with us. My favorite is the last one using the pigment marker at the end just finished the it off. I subscribed.
My favorite all time Christms gift I was given was a white dress with tulips on it and a big bow to tie in the back. It was a simple cotten dress I just loved it :)
I love your tutorials. They really break things down and give me confidence that I can create, too. The best Christmas gift I got as a child was the huge make up caddy from Estee Lauder. You could only get it at Christmas at Hudson's. I wasn't allowed to wear make up till I was 15, so this was the greatest gift ever.
Perfectly charming!! I love this!
This was so so much fun! such pretty results even for a complete beginner. Thanks for explaining so well!
Just finished it now! Thank you so much! It was so easy to follow and it gives me so much motivation to keep going!
This is very pretty, I love it. It makes me excited about using my watercolor pencils!!!
Love all of your tutorials! Your colors, music are so calm and soothing. My favorite Christmas gift growing up was my horse "Lady" when I was 5 years old.
Shayda, this was waaaaay fun to paint! I've needed a go-to watercolor image and this is absolutely it!!!
I had never heard of water color pencils, and my husband convinced me to purchase some today. And then I find your video (love your videos) . so excited to try this gorgeous sketch! Thank you
I love this whimsical sketchbook piece! My favorite present my parents gave me for christmas was my Chatty Cathy doll, I still have it in its original box, 40 years later!
Thanks so much for explaining what you are doing and the reasons why! I got a begginers set as gift quite some time ago and finally decided to give it a shot. After watching your videos I finally know where to start.
I love watching you do your art!
What a lovely giveaway! I think my favorite Christmas gift I received as a kid was a Chrissy doll in the late 60's. She was so fun to play with and her hair could expand or shorten in length with a push of a button. I still have her, although she is tucked away in a safe place. 😊
I’m from the Netherlands. We don’t celebrate christmas with gifts, we do Sinterklaas on december 5th. My favourite gift was this little template set where you could draw a lady and then add clothes with the same templates and colour them in. That’s how I first got into designing my own clothes.
Lisette001984 g
Same here on both counts! I’m a dutchy and I also had one of those template things, mine was pink and i still have it after all these years.
Omg I had some of those...lol
Hello from the US!
I love your tutorials!
My favorite gift as a child was a bottle cutting tool. It allowed me to cut off the tops of glass bottles, of any size or shape, to then paint the bottoms. I especially liked painting little dainty florals and giving them as gifts.
I used my watercolor pencils for the first time, following this tutorial! Thank you🥰!
I've always wanted to try watercolor painting and this was the perfect project to start! Thank you so much, I had the most fun doing this and it came out pretty great for my first try, loved it
I...I did it. I made a picture with watercolor pencils for the first time. And it looks GOOD. ☺️ so proud of my little flower splatters. Thanks Shayda
Going to give this a go,so pretty and fresh looking. My favorite gift was a pair of gold earrings my father bought me, still have them to remember it. xoxo
That was fun and gave me confidence to try my pencils. Thanks for the walk thru
I've loved reading since I was very young, so I loved getting books for Christmas. But when I was in high school I received a sketchbook, some pencils and charcoal and fell in love with art (though I never did get good with charcoals). I went to high school long enough ago that we still had art classes, and one semester we did watercolors. I didn't get comfortable enough with it to continue it, but watching your videos has inspired me to try it again. I've ordered watercolor paper and paints, and am looking forward to getting on it. I'm sure it won't be quite as easy as you make it look. So glad I happened on your channel a few months ago!
My favorite gift, can I say 2? My doll baby who could walk and roller skate. Loved her. And then my really cool bike with a banana seat. The fun that bike brought me. Loved watching you create that flower page. Thanks for the opportunity to win. TFS!
I enjoyed watching the tutorial. It makes me want to grab a brush and paint!
Best Christmas gift I ever got when I a child was a Sony Walkman. Still remember the excitement!
Going to try this today...looks like fun! Thanks for sharing! I really like the pen sketching at the end.
I love these tutorials. I don’t have much time to water color these days but I do get inspired when watching yours. As for my favorite gift I got when I was young was a handmade doll house my Dad made me.
THANK YOU !!!!! Very helpful for a total beginner like me. Bought a pack of water color pencils for a birthday present for myself, - because omg they are so pretty. But had no idea where to start, and didn't want to "waste" them.
Thank you for sharing your talents! You are very inspiring and after watching your videos, I always feel I can do it too!
My favorite Christmas gift as a child was receiving a guitar. I was so surprised! Really good memory.
Appreciate this! Perfect tutorial to get going today. Love your style too. Thank you 💖
That's so simply beautiful! 🌺
Always love your floral arts! I was blessed as a kid and there are so many cool things I remember getting for Christmas! But probably the top would be a polly pocket town set, it had a magnet track hidden just underneath the set so when you put on the main doll ( who had a little magnet under her feet) she could move all around town and into her house. It also made the toast pop up in the toaster when you moved her into the kitchen! Man the attention to detail! So cool
Shayla I love your loose florals. It’s so hard to remember my favorite Christmas gift after so many years but Mom mother was waaay into the whole Christmas thing. She’d inevitably have stay up all night getting the meal ready for the next day and of course the Santa gifts out on the chairs for us to find. But I guess the irony was my favorite part was always the stocking with the cheap little trinkets and surprises in it. And then at toe of the stocking would be the biggest orange we had ever seen- cause oranges were too expensive to buy the rest of the year! So despite the expense of all the rest and ‘big gift’, my favorite thing always the fresh orange! Lol
Thank you so much for all your videos! I love watching them and I have started learning a lot, though I am a complete beginner! 🙂
Thank you. I used this to complete my drawing of the day.
Fav Christmas gift as a child is a ring💗. Size 5 with sapphires and diamonds made into a flower🌺 I still have it decades later
I loved my Christmas stocking that mom filled with oranges, nuts and candies. This was a great WC painting! Thnx!
Awesome flowers!! I love this!
I loved this! Thanks!!
Love this tutorial my daughter bought me a watercolour pensil set for my birthday today which brought me to u, my favourite gift I ever got as a child was a doll on rollerskates I loved that doll xx
Thank you for the great video! I am brand new to this so I bought Staedler watercolor pencils. It seems like every other video I watched recommended expensive pencils. You made me feel so much better!!! And I love your beginner project. I feel that it is something that I could really do!!!
Very Nice video! I’ll going tot try out my watercolorpencils
These flowers look very pretty. The penwork gives nice definition to them.
My favourite Christmas gift as a child was a kids art starter kit filled with markers, paint, crayons and colour pencils. It got me into drawing for fun.
Happy Holidays, Shayda. I love using watercolor pencils for the very reasons you mentioned - and I am fascinated with the magic as the pencil turns to paint!
My favorite Christmas gift was a small black leather clutch purse that I received when I was in fifth grade. I can still smell the soft leather. I felt very grownup!
Great flower garden. Beautiful and fun !
Love these flower sketches. They are so cheerful and colorful and actually look doable for a newbie. :)
Love this! I’ve had watercolor pencils for a long time but didn’t know how to use them. Can’t wait to try this
