Westland Lynx AH1 Aerobatics

Westland shows off its superior rotor technology by capturing the world’s helicopter speed record in 1986 at an average speed of 440.87 km/h (249.1 mph) and was officially recognised by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale. In doing so, it became the world’s fastest helicopter and set a World Helicopter Speed Record that has never been beaten. Then for good measure, follows it by carrying out some spectacular flight maneuverability trials.
This video was originally cut to the music track 'Danger Zone' but it was decided at the time that the licence cost of this track was excessively expencive so a sound-alike track was created which does sound good.

It was a little like that! The original version of this video was cut to the music track Danger Zone which everyone loved. But the music licence was eyewateringly expencive even back in the late 80's so the decision was taken to have a sound a like music track made which was much more cost effective. Everythings got a budget after all!

Surprised they went with a Top Gun knockoff for the music instead of Airwolf. The Lynx is pretty much the real-life Airwolf.

Love the Lynx, although this isn't the AH1, this is the G-Lynx, a specially modified, one off Lynx designed to break the helicopter speed record (which it did in 1986.... and still holds today.)

They're demonstrating the standard Lynx helicopter 'platform', not just the G-Lynx prototype, world record holder of fastest helicopter. The Lynx was constantly evolved and in production for over 30 years.
