- This is my favourite Rippingtons cut. It's so smooth...it doesn't even touch the sides. Patti Austin is in fine form and produces one of the great vocal lines. It's addictive!
I have so many great memories listening to this. So much brilliance from Russ and The Rippington's family.
For me, Patti Austin's vocals adds an extra humanizing dimension to the story that's being told.
I've always loved this song. Reminds me of a beautiful lady and much happier times. Life is short. Please live your best life ...
This song is everything to me casting fond memories of my 25 years in Boston and New Hampshire 🫶🏾👊🏾💎🎵🎼🎶🎉
I heard this song when i was 15 YO. And still love this song so much until now
One of the favorites from that CD.
One of the world's perfect songs. 10+ stars!
This is what got me started with the Rippingtons and I took my wife on her birthday in New York and that was the best gift in 27 of marriage.
Best group ever.. Been listening to Russ & The Rippingtons since 1992.. Never skipped an album..
The definitive Smooth Jazz group.
My boyfriend taped this cd for me when i was about 19 years old

This song is really make me calm and happy when i sad or mad. I super love this song and this album. i'm so sad couldnt find it in spotify.
That Song Makes Me Cry A Lot.
Not one note or sound out of place... how can that be? And far from just being empirically good, it moves my soul too; the beauty of not just the melody, but also that simple and tender arrangement delivering it... And that inspired extended ending from 4:12 is the best part for me! Just takes me away each time... Not surprised that this comes from the house of Grusin, the man who irrevocably changed my relationship with music. #rediscoveringtherippingtons
Me, too! Welcome to the St. James Club is my favorite Rippingtons album of all, and "I Watched Her Walk Away" is my favorite cut. This album was a big part of the soundtrack of my grad-school experience where I really did watch her walk away (with this song playing in my head). :'(
In the late 1980s KKSF Radio produced their KKSF Sampler CDs for AIDS Relief. That San Francisco radio station no longer exists as such, but that easy listening sound of the Bay Area remains for many of us a great memory. This wonderful song brings back those near perfect days beautifully.
This is the soundtrack of the 90's for me. I love this cut with it's silky smooth groove. The entire album is perfect.
To this day I still listen to Welcome To The St. James Club.
One of the most beautiful smooth jazz tunes ever created. "I Watched Her Walk Away" is a recognition that a man watching the woman leave is really strong, and life does bring ups and downs but standing and watching without a fight puts a man above the others.
Man- I love that electric piano solo! Reminds me a bit of Pat Methaney
another rippingtons classic.
Simplemente bellísimo siempre. Temas muy bonitos, armonias, y líneas extraordinarias.
Hace años que La música de Russ Fremman, y su grupo RIPPINGTONS, ME TIENE ANGANCHAO. ¡¡ Buenisimos!!

This Track Has Made Today Just Magic. Cheers SPTAH, Good Job.
First time I heard this was on the now defunct KTWV 94.7, The Wave in Los Angeles. This song and the album was one of the highlights of listening to that station. I do miss The Wave, a lot. They had a good run from 1987 until they went off-air in the 2000s. A good number of my album and CD collection are from artists they often played at that station.
That's what I thought...not hard to like this one...the long end send off is my favorite....
Heaven on earth - thanks for all the great tunes, Russ Freeman & Co!
Sublime. One of the Ripps' best tunes.
Where is Patty Austin????
