Who Should Play Batman in the DCU?

- The Dark Knight has been portrayed by some of the most legendary actors in Hollywood, but soon someone new will put on the mask and cape. A year ago James Gunn announced his plans for DCU Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, including a brand new Batman movie: The Brave and the Bold. But who should play Batman in DCU? What does it take to play Batman? Bruce Wayne I guess you'll have to watch and see...

Whoever it is, I really hope they go the route of conroy, speaking in a firm voice as batman and a much more laid-back voice as bruce to mask his identity
Honestly I want Alan Ritchson. When a bad guy sees Batman. I don’t want him to look down or just straight. I want him to look up and see this beast of a human.
Alan Ritchson, would be great as Batman in my humble opinion. He has the look and demeanor to play both Batman and Bruce Wayne.
He is faty
Ive just started watching season 1 of REACHER.
I dont see jack reacher i can only see alan ritchson as the batman.
He is the perfect choice for batman👌
Thad castle as Batman 😂
He is pretty buff to be Batman
@TheAMSport Jim Lee batman is buff 🤷♂️its a no brainer getting him to be the batman.
@kryoboy3.0 I still would dismiss the idea ..but since I seen a fan screen play of Jensen..I'm very sold
For me personally, Jensen Ackles would be the perfect Bruce Wayne/Batman. I'm aware he's nearly 46 years old, but he looks 10 years younger than that, and this version of Batman has to be in his 40's. 42 or 43 to be exact. If it isn't Jensen Ackles, I'd be perfectly okay with Alan Ritchson.
To be completley honest, if he hadn’t been one of the oldest options on my list he probably would have been one of my top picks, especially considering he’s already voiced Batman in animation! I would definitely still be happy with that pick.
@@capesandcowls I think he has the potential to be the definitive Batman and Bruce Wayne. I just hope the casting is right for Batman and the whole Bat Family. So far all of James Gunn's castings have been pretty spot on.
Allen Ritchson. Perfect height, build, jaw, age, everything. Wouldn’t even need to have padding in the suit to accentuate the muscles, the dude’s physique is that good. This way, they could do a Batsuit that’s skin tight and be more closer to the comics. Sick of the black body armor that everybody has done already. Affleck’s suit was still the best looking by far, I want something similar.
I agree...Allen is the perfect Batman
Except he doesn't look like Bruce facially and his acting style doesn't fit the role at all. He was well-cast as Aqua-Bro, wrong for Batman .....
@@Knightfall182 you don’t know that though. Thats what screen testing is for. Personally I think he has the range to do it, he didn’t play the typical dude bro in Blue Mountain State, he showed he had a goofy comedic side, so I’m sure he could pull of the Bruce Wayne facade too.
@Knightfall182 he is fat we don't want fatty
I watched the first 3 episodes of Alan Ritchison as "Jack Reacher".
Man.
It would be the second-most colossal blunder for the WB label if he is not cast.
He checks every single box.
He doesn't need to bulk up for the role.
He has an imposing presence, which means he won't look like a joke.
He's already a skilled fighter.
His Jack Reacher is a man wth 2 personas. Ritchison slides effortlessly between both.
He does one more very important thing that would lend itself to being comic book-accurate :
When the wheels in his character's head are turning, he doesn't acknowledge those around him.
Alan Ritchison doesn't need one of those pathetic, can't-turn-his-head, padded "Halloween costumes". (Why are superhero movie costumes manufactured out of "Nerf"?)
To me he's the perfect embodiment of Bruce Wayne / Batman for the new DCU.
The dude from Supernatural
The tall one or the blonde one?
@@sinnombre5466 Jensen A ..the other is new Ranger Texas Walker..
The dude from Supernatural is Jensen Ackles
@marchionessamoretto7326 yeah him ..perfect for Batman
Yes Jensen ackles is so right, i mean he's done many animated projects already as batman
Pattinson is great as Batman and Bruce Wayne…he was meant to be like that…and then grow
Pattinson is good as a young, troubled and enraged Bruce Wayne but his Batman is a sick joke. He literally feels like a bad UA-cam parody of Christian Bale's Batman!
@@Ultriac301bitch what ??
Pattinson is literally the best live action batman to date , bale batman wasn't even batman
@@Ultriac301 Pattinsons batman is so good what are you talking about, pattinson potrays this version of batman perfectly you can tell hes new to being batman. The next movie will really determine if he is a good batman
@@luhgyzz9547Why people praise the Batman from Pattinson so much, did we saw the same movie? His Batman is reckless, not tactical and he didn't have any origin story with his training. All we know is that he could be a just brawler fight instead of a guy who has learned every single martial art on earth. His Batman is obviously the most mediocre one..
@@aveteranplayer6403 The point of his batman is to show how inexperienced he is and how he is still yearning for vengeance rather than justice. It sets us up to keep guessing how his character is going to develop in the future, you can see him take his anger out on criminals which shows that he is still young angry and reckless. The movie is a setup for the second movie so in that movie we will most definitely see a lot of character growth which is very exciting especially because of how cool the batman is with how dark and gloomy the movie seems to be.
I hate that they’re going with Damien as the Robin we’re introduced to. Sure that means we have instant Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and even Tim. However, that would make Batman in his late 30s - mid 40s. Which means once again, there’s a major age discrepancy between Clark and Bruce. I hate seeing a Batman closer to the twilight of his career alongside a Superman in his prime. I’d rather see them grow together, where Bruce has years of growing and bonding with Supes so that they can become best friends like they are in the comics…
That being said, I’ll always vote for Jensen Ackles to don the DCU cowl. He’s got the good looks, the height, he’s around the perfect age for where Batman would be w/ Damian. He’s the acting chops, and the history/voice (as he’s voiced the character multiple times at this point in animated movies). Plus he’s proven he can really bulk for a role, as he got pretty big for his role in The Boys. He’s also ready and willing. He’ll always have my vote.
Ethan Peck, Jacob Elordi, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Austin Butler, Glen Powell or Brandon Sklenar.
Would Oliver Jackson Cohen be a good choice to play Batman cause after we saw how scary he was in the Invisible Man movie, Imagine how scary and intimidating he would be as the Dark Knight?
I should play Batman in the DCU because I’ve got more drive to be the next Dark Knight of Gotham City and I have my own Batman costume which I wear to honour the late Kevin Conroy
Brandon Sklenar would be perfect
Honestly, I've got Ethan Peck to play Batman.
1. He heavily resembles his grandad (Gregory Peck), who happens to be the literal face model for comics Batman (KC, Year One).
2. He has the voice nailed down to a T. Dare I say, it can challenge Conroy himself (and I don't say that lightly)
3. He's about the same height as Corenswet and his friends with him IRL. Should work for the Batman-Superman dynamic.
4. He's a great actor. Won two awards and got nominated for multiple awards on top. He can play a cold, calculated character of the master strategist type (reboot Spock) and IRL he has the Wayne charm.
5. He's 37-38 right now, and given the Batman age range, by the time filming starts, Peck will be the perfect age to play Batman as well, but who's to say he isn't the perfect age now?
I think Brandon Sklenar would be a pretty good choice
So who are the actors in the thumbnails? I recognise most of them
Oliver Jackson cohen is who I think should play Batman. Ana de armas as catwoman. Wolfgang novagrats as nightwing, Jacob elordi red hood, abbey cowen batgirl, aiden gillanghar tim drake, and carter rockwoood as Damian Wayne.
Cornsweat isn’t by any means an rdj type cast but not a case of popular raving megastar a lister. So a Batman cast similarly would bring a subtle balance. I don’t doubt ur picks to be bad ones but I do think it’d be a little odd seeing a Batman whose actor brings too much presence
i honestly out of all of these like austin butler the best I think he embodies the whole gothams darling boy and shows he can be charming with elvis but can also play intense and menacing with dune two i think his age matches davids the best too i really think he could deliver a memorable performance
i would LOVE alan ritchson as batman... mostly cuz it would be really funny. he would go from being thad castle to batman... which shows the range he has... and the immense career glowup he'd have (if it happened)
also alan really pulls off the detective skills well. in reacher especially, the guy can be sassy in a very stoic way, which is how i imagine batman interacting with his robins
Finn Witrock as Bruce Wayne
For me would Alan Ritson be the perfect choice!
He also has the pyscics to be a great Batman and the Charisma for being a good Bruce Wayne!
Jensen Ackles has the range and acting chops for Batman. He had some very intense, intimidating scenes in Supernatural that looks like something straight out of a Batman project. And he clearly has the voice nailed.
Yes please we need this
Nah. He isn't a movie star and couldn't carry a film. We can't go from Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, Bale, Affleck and Pattinson to him. I wouldn't mind him doing a Green Arrow TV series though. His style of humor fits Ollie perfectly
@@Knightfall182 what? You don't have to be a "movie star" to play characters in movies. He's very well known in the entertainment industry. Even if he isn’t "famous", that will just intrigue people to see his work as Batman. Hell David corenswet isn’t well known either but here we are. Jensen would be awesome as Batman and Bruce
@@yourwrongimright101_69 Nah, you're wrong there. Look at the previous 6 Batman actors, they all were or had the potential to be cinematic leading men. WB sees it's Batman lead as an investment. I wouldn't be surprised if names like Hartnett, Gylenhaal etc are in the mix. Superman is the opposite, they always go with unknowns for that role.
@@Knightfall182 nope. keaton and Pattinson were not popular casting at all. Hell people hated it at first but look how that turned out. Jensen is a famous actor, he's not just some random indie actor nor an inexperienced one. He has been in the industry for years. His role in supernatural, the boys and voices as both Batman and Red hood made him an icon. Gyllenhaal is very unlikely to be casted mainly cuz there are way better options available and he's far too occupied to consistently spend years in a single character. And hartnett isn’t even in the list to be Batman.
Who is the sixth actor in the final eight?
In my opinion 1 Jensen Ackles 2 Oliver Jackson Cohen 3 Ethan Peck and 4 Brandon Sklenar
Come on man just give it to Jensen Ackles, he has like all the points you listed. He's handsome, he's got the look, he's just under 6'2, he's 46 but everyone knows he looks incredible for his age like he hasn't aged since like 2013, he's got that big gruff voice, he can be big and broody and he can be charming (like really charming jees) and he got seriously buff for soldier boy in The Boys. Like come on he deserves to be Batman, the world deserves Jensen Ackles' Batman
I’ve been saying Alan Ritchinson for Batman for years he looks like the comic book Batman and has the brooding actor chops coming off Reacher to do it.
Whoever it is, it's going to be a less known actor than top actors to play Batman, anyway. Considering, Gunn chose an lesser known for Superman. We'll just have to wait and see, now.
Alan is too damn muscular to be bruce wayne dead give away😂😂😂
He's a aquaman type actor.
Dude... Bruce is fucking jacked. What are you taking about?
He'd be dudebro Batman Snyder's wet dream
@@ojmcclanahan689still won't make a great bruce. he doesn't have that wide range of emotions as an actor
@@quirob3 That's 100% pure steaming bullshit right there, lol.
I don’t want to see a Batman who is a lot older than Superman again. We already got that with the DCEU and as much as I love that version of Batman and especially that version of Superman I don’t want to see the same thing because if your just going to do the same thing again then why don’t you just bring back Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck? I would like to see someone in their early to late 30s because you have to remember that Batman is a very important DC character and needs to be around for a long time. This excludes some actors who I think would have made great Batmans. Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Barnes, Sebastian Stan and Alan Ritchson who I would love to be Batman in an else-worlds story because I’ve always liked when Batman was a bigger guy because it makes him seem more intimidating. We really had it all with Be Affleck. The look, the acting, the voice, the jaw the suit, the physique. I have three actors who fit these criteria. Brandon Sklenar, Oliver Jackson Cohen and Richard Madden. The last two are the same age as Robert Pattinson so I’m not going to include them. That means that Brandon Skelnar is my Batman. I believe he can be Batman, Bruce Wayne, he is the right age and has a great jawline and physique. He can play Batman for 20 years. I think you could just have Damian be born before Bruce becomes Batman. If Batman normally becomes Batman at 26 and Damian is supposed to be 10 than that means that Bruce and Talia could have had Damian when Bruce was 23 and 10 years later Bruce is 33 which is the same age as Brandon Skelnar is now. If you wanted you could make him look older by using makeup and maybe graying his hair a bit if you want to make him look older but I think him being 33 is fine. He’ll be older by the time the movie comes out which I believe will be 2027 or 2028 because DC would be a bit dumb to have two Batman movies competing in the same year of 2026.
Victorian? Hmm? That gives me an 💡. If a Victorian Batman existed, I’d pick someone British like Tom Ellis or with a sophisticated background/personality to play the Dark Knight. If a 20th century Batman existed, I’d say someone with a detective personality to play him
I want either Jake Gyllenhaal or Karl Urban to play Batman. But I have a specific actor to play the Joker that this Batman would go up against. Willem Dafoe.
Remember, James gun himself said that batman will just be a couple of years older than superman and superman is the same age as corenswet, so he wouldn’t be in his 40s. I think tom bateman is a good pick for batman.
The jacked version I saw of Zuckerberg on Saturday at ufc. No doubt!
And while Battinson is a loner, James Gunn's DCU Batman will have the whole Bat-Family.
Jensen Ackles for more mature Batman, origin movies be damned
And we don’t need another OLD Batman. He. Needs to be about the same age as Superman
Brandon Sklenar
MY 6 POTENTIAL BATMAN/BRUCE WAYNE FANCASTS, WHAT YALL THINK?
Oliver Jackson Cohen,Age: 37 Height:6'3"
Caleb Smith,Age:36,Height:6'2"
Brandon Sklenar,Age:32,Height:6'2"
Giacomo Gianniotti,Age:34,Height:5'11"
Tom Bateman,Age:35,Height:6'2"
Alex Russell Age:36,Height:6'0"
Pablo Schreiber…. He’s basically super sized Cristian bale
i remember him from Blue Mountain State, Titans, Reacher and Smallville, I've been following him for quite a while actually. I think he can definitely deliver a great bratty, douchy and spoiled Bruce Wayne and has the physicality, not to mention the body, to play a very convincing Batman, so I'm more than okay with him.
Jensen is old yes, i want him as Batman though
I would love Alan as Batman he would crush it hope he gets it
Adam Driver is my pick he’s got the size and he’s one of the best actors working right now.
Nooooo!! He looks nothing like Bruce. And those dumbo ears
Batman:
Andrew Koji
Ethan Peck
Oliver Jackson-Cohen
Nightwing:
Wolfgang Novogratz
Leo Howard
Damian:
Carter Rockwood
Talia:
Carmen Bsaibes
Ra’s:
Ian Anthony Dale
Red Hood:
Jacob Elordi
The age aspect does not need to be exact, because you can always make an actor look older with makeup and grey hair
For Batman+Bruce Wayne you need
Charismatic
Angerable
Jacked but not like an pro bodybuilder
Moderately deep voice
Very handsome
Athletically trainable
In summary - You need to find an oscar or near oscar level actor who is good looking.
Physique and martial arts can be achieved in a year.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Jensen Ackles. He has the voice and the acting talent and the charm you mentioned. And actors can get beefed up for a role.
Brenton Thwaites. Because it should be Grayson under the mantle at first, then Ritchson when Bruce returns. Personally I think Ritchson would make a better aged, back from the dead Jason Todd, But Alan deserves a leading multi deal role.
Alan Ritchson should play Batman
Florian Munteanu. He's got the Batman size and physicality to scrap. He's got the brooding scowl. He can clean up well for Bruce Wayne. Young enough to do several films. Old enough to have a son Damien's age. He probably doesn't command a high price tag.
I would actually like to see Antony Starr as the big bad bat.
Either Jensen Ackles or Alan Ritchson.
1. Scott Adkins As Bruce Wayne/Batman
2. Ben Aldridge As Thomas Wayne
3. Ruth Wilson As Martha Wayne
4. Colin Firth As Alfred Pennyworth
5. Jamie Lee Curtis As Dr. Leslie Thompkins
6. Timothee Chalamet As Dick Grayson/Nightwing
7. Oakes Fegley As Damian Wayne
8. Meta Golding As Selina Kyle/Catwoman
9. Dacre Montgomery As Jason Todd/The Red Hood
10. Bill Pullman As Commissioner Gordon
11. Sadie Sink As Barbara Gordon/Batgirl/Oracle
12. Colton Haynes As Tim Drake
13. Johnny Depp As Jack Napier/The Joker
14. Alano Miller As Arthur Fleck/The Joker
15. Matt Cedeno As Jorge Jimenez/The Joker
16. Fairuza Balk As Harley Quinn
17. Fiona Dourif As Punchline
18. Aubrey Plaza As Neo Joker
19. Alana De La Garza As Andrea Beaumont/The Phantasm
20. Eman Esfandi As Bane
21. Mark Dacascos As Ghost Maker (Make Him The Main Villain Of Brave & The Bold)
22. Zhang Jin As Ra's Al Ghul
23. Freida Pinto As Talia Al Ghul
24. Rob Morgan As Dr. Lucius Fox
25. Laura Harrier As Renee Montoya
26. John Travolta As Harvey Bollock
Scott and Colin are the same age (47)
I need jensen ackles batman so bad
Batman should atleast be 40 years old if he's got Damian Wayne and Dick Grayson and Jason Todd would already atleast be young adults
You’re probably right! Late 30s to early 40s makes a lot of sense. Yet another reason for my pick…
42 or 43 to be exact. I'm afraid they're gonna fuck up and cast an actor that's too young.
You’re all incorrect, James Gunn has said Batman won’t be much older than superman, and superman is stated to be a lot younger than the previous iteration which was 33 in his debut, Batman won’t be in his 40s, he will be in his mid 30s
@dn2173 He didn't say that. He even clarified what he said because people were quoting him wrong like what you're doing. All he said was batman would be older than superman. He never specified by how much.
@@TheRealCSD6my bad. but that still doesn’t suggest Bruce would be in his early 40s Bruce could easily be 32-35 as in every iteration he becomes Batman in his mid 20s, Damien was conceived in batmans very early years and the league accelerated Damien’s growth and aging for his early years. Say Batman starts being Batman at 25, he could easily have a full fledged bat family in 10 years and be 35 at the start of this film
Alan Ritchson should be first choice no doubt
I prefer Zach Scheerer, taekwondo black belt, or some guys from the Never Back Down movies. Or one of the younger generations of the Power Rangers.
What about Jonathan Lipnicki? He’s got the looks, the hairdo, the muscle.
I think for batman they need A List actor.my top choice is ryan gosling
Pattinson is fine. I'd leave that alone and work on other solo projects. But if you need a Batman in the new DCU then Scott Adkins is your guy. Alan Ritcherson would be good as the bulk Grey and blue Batman with a red yellow and green Robin.
Corenswet will succeed as Superman. I campaigned hard for him. I think I was the the first cause he looked like Tom Welling and Cavil. Perfect.
Then we bring in Daddario as the Wonder Woman
Alan Ritcherson as Aquaman (just like Smallville)
And Grant Gustins Flash. That ll be a little touch of all Universes too.
Alan ritchson… Bruce Wayne is supposed to be 6”4..6”5 and a beast of a man!!
Bruce Wayne is 6'2 210lbs
Honestly, from the list you presented Alan is definitely the top pick with Scott Eastwood as a close second. Most everyone else is a no-go.
I think whoever they pick to play Bruce/Batman has to have that chiseled jaw and sharp eyebrows, otherwise they'll look ridiculous in the cowl (i.e. Christian Bale) and ridiculous standing next to Corensweat's Superman.
So true.
kit harington with short hair would be a pretty cool batman, he hasnt been in that many movies but yeah Alan Ritchson literally looks like a comic character, he just needs to change his hair color
Kit is super tiny though
true @@j2174
Kit is more Dick Grayson, than Bruce Wayne.
@@lordd794 true but he's not thin and tall enough anyways ig
Thought they’d got their Batman. They keep changing their plans.
Liam Hemsworth would be a great batman. He looks like a Bruce Wayne
04:10 THIS WAS BY DESIGN!
It should be David Boreanaz if you want an older Batman
Bradley Cooper is the best possible choice. Fight me.
cooper has the acting range to be a great DC villain, so no
Y r we having a Damien Wayne if we don’t have a Jonathan Kent 😡
Jensen Ackles or Scott Adkins got my vote
Nah I’ll pass on Richison
Glen Powell would be good imo
Glenn Powell should be DCU Hal Jordan not Batman. I am watching Patrick Schwarzenegger on Gen V and Glenn is a better actor than him. He fits Hal better since he already played a pilot. He is Hal.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen
Chris Pine should get a shot at Batman.
I back Jensen Ackles or Alan Ritchson.
For me it's Jensen or Gyllenhaal.
Armie Hammer..
Almost happened but no
battinson
I know who will play him. It's me.
Sean O'Pry. Although I really think he would be a great Superman
is he even an actor
Alan is batman yes 😮😊
No more black rubber suits
Why is Kingsley in that list
Jensen Ackles 100%
Jason ackles will be perfect
Batman should be around 38.
Ethan Peck
Affleck
Alan Ritchson's is perfect fit for Batman
he would just be Reacher but with a Batsuit on..
Glen powell is perfect Batman
Honestly, as a little bit of a younger option I don’t disagree! Pretty cool that he was in The Dark Knight Rises back in the day. It would be pretty full circle for him to play Batman.
I mentioned that he should on Facebook last week
I think Glenn would be a better Cyclops.
Glen should play green lantern, either hal jordan or guy gardner
Too young to be daddy to a teenager onscreen
I ONLY see Scott Adkins as Batman and the rest has nowhere near of having martial arts as skilled as him. When you're a superhero with NO POWER then you're martial art skills pretty much has to be better than anyone else and for sure has many weapons but his martial art skills still plays a big factor in his character. Scott Adkins, that's it. There's no way any other actors in Hollywood that can do a better fight than him. Have you seen X-Men Origins: Wolverine when Logan fight against DEADPOOL with his mouth shut? Yup,that's Scott Adkins.
He doesn't have a wide range in acting.
Batman needs to show deep sorrow and deep anger. Also having charisma that can be changed to anger/seriousness in a blink of an eye like during a conversation.
@@RealGigaMind he can when he get cast as Batman not that BS performance from Robert Pattinson it's all mostly silent, slow talk and stare seriously?! Wtf is that?
Oliver jackson cohen
Alan Ritchson is HOLLYWOOD 6'3 the same way Sylvester Stallone is HOLLYWOOD 5'10. Neither is THAT tall.
Jensen Ackles please
We need a batman in his early 30s
You didn’t even include Oliver Jackson Cohen, Tom Bateman or Ethan Peck. This video is invalid.
Jensen Ackles is Batman ❤
Damn just stole Harloffs name for his superhero show...
Yeah DCU Batman can’t be under 6 ft standing next to a 6’4 Superman
