All these said, it made me realize really that sitting with the Lord in your season of being single is really really necessary. Sitting with God like what David said in the book of Psalm asking the Lord to seek his heart and if there’s anything that needs to be addressed, we allow the Holy Spirit to correct us and immediately obey that still voice. I like what Festus said in other video that waiting time is indeed a preparation time. This is the time that we allow the Holy Spirit to expose to us what needs to be corrected in our mindset, behavior , way of doing things that might hurt our spouse. Like really asking the Lord to transform and molds us into a person that He wanted us to be for our spouse. And yes, communication is really really really important. Thank you Fes and Jen for pouring your heart out into this topic. You are very transparent and raw which what I like about ur content. Its pure and no pretense. This is an eye opener to me.

Festus is so me, so comforting to see someone with not so great communication skills still get married and navigate them and be aware.
I am aware I am not a great communicator, I pray I will grow into being better before I meet the right person.

These videos are so good, super informative and very impactful. I agree, communication is key. I felt like I needed some popcorn for these couch conversation sessions.

I can understand this all too well.
One way that I believe would have helped was to allow your daughter to always go ask things from her father Festus. When she comes to you to ask for something, (whether you have the answer or not) you redirect her to go ask her dad (festus). She will have to get use to getting some confirmations from her dad directly not through her mum. Overtime she will not even come to you (mum) as often but go straight to dad and a relationship will gradually develop between dad and daughter. This, however, is something only mum can engineer and monitor to see progress since you are always caught in the middle.

There needs to be more conversation about being a step parent. So many people walk into this blindly. I watch a dating show where women come on with any where from 1-5 kids and its like they leave their baby daddies with no consideration about how difficult it is to merge families. And then wonder why men only use them for play play and the ones that do get married, the men tend to not have much authority in the household even if they're paying half the bills
