This is terrific Carey! Having lived through several outpourings of God's Spirit, The Charismatic Movement, The Jesus People Movement, and others, this wisdom would have prevented a lot of lost harvest. So thankful for you Carey. You have a gift of clarity. You are a gift to leadership.
I find a primary reason we are seeing Gen Z retreating from the Church is due to the fact there is a lack of discipleship. There is this large desire to get people "saved" yet there is no accountability, no challenge to examine themselves and develop self-awareness, and failure to cultivate Spiritual disciplines. The worst part is a needed feeling to get them baptized with no discipleship. Believing baptism is about the one performing the act rather than make the focus on the one getting baptized. Discipleship is not a 12-week class on what being a Christian is about.
Thanks for getting into this!
Hope it's helpful :)

You are giving language to issues ministers have dealt with for decades. Such great articulation
