Once again, I really enjoyed your report. I have to stress out that your music choice really does it for me and that all your comments demonstrate a fair and honest review! Well done and keep going, subscribers will follow :)
Thanks for this very positive feedback. It takes some working to get those subscribers ;-)
SQ never dissapoints! Fantastic flight! 👌
Thanks for watching; I'm glad you like it. Cool flight indeed ;-)
yes, if you don't check in online 24h before, to confirm the seat you have already chosen online when booking - the check-in counter girls will move you if someone else shows up before you and requests your seat - so you must confirm online before coming to the airport to guarantee your seat choice - I have also learnt the hard way!!! even in Business class
Thanks for watching. In my particular case, confirming (or not) 24hrs in advance wasn't event the question. The SIN-SYD leg was a code share with Air France with whom I had booked a flight from Paris to Sydney. I had reserved a window seat when buying my ticket online on AF's site and it all went well. And then, some 3 or 4 weeks before departure, when I double checked my flight numbers I actually learned by chance that my seat had been changed.
Impossible then to re-change since AF don't have access to SQ's system. The only good thing is that I knew beforehand and didn't find out on the day of departure - that would have been REALLY annoying ;-(((
The big problem with travelling with SQ for a second and subsequent times is that ypou are expecting a level of amazement equivalent to the first. And that can never be! Once you get to the SQ level small improvements are all you can get.
Probably true ;-) Again, it was still a nice overall experience and "impressions" are always subjective but I don't understand how an airline like SQ can end up with such a seat. Compared to the previous one, that's not a "minor upgrade" but a real downgrade.
Awesome review Pit! I'm always looking forward to your uploads. Great quality and I like the time you take to make a full and detailed work. A good flight review must have above 10 minutes of material. Good Work!
Thanks for watching and this positive return.
Well, and I've never counted precisely, but all in all (filming not included), I probably spend an average 2 - 2.5 hours per minute of video. (downloading, sorting, editing, cutting, texting, reviewing, re-editing, re-texting and ... photoshopping a thumbnail ;-)
I booked same flight from Paris to Sydney ( Air France website ) , second leg from Singapore to Sydney with Singapore Airlines and only seat option was middle seat ( code share flight, they are not in the same Alliance ). So I clicked on middle seat. I didn't want that, just like you. Single traveler , window flyer . So when I finished my booking, all paid for and done.... I tried Singapore Airlines website, typed in my Air France flight confirmation number and my flight from Singapore to Sydney was there with the option to change my seat. So of course I did. Window seat. Happy.
Other viewers had suggested me the same thing. Will know for next time, then ;-) Thanks for watching. And have a nice flight.
First time on your channel and I usually don’t subscribe to channels right away, but your video was so well made that I subscribed right away! I laughed out loud at “oops almost forgot” hahahah! Thanks for taking us on the journey with you! P.s. please show us the detailed menu next time and the contents of the amenity kit also. 😉 merci beaucoup in advance. And come to L.A soon! 😉😉
Well, I'm glad to read that ;-) Thanks for watching and subbing then. SQ don't give out amenity kits. Slippers, eye masks and earplugs are at your seat when you board and all the other amenities you may need are available in the restrooms.
LA and especially the international terminal with its video installations is definitely on my bucket list ;-)
Pit Spielmann aah that makes sense since a lot of times, those amenity kits on the seats get lost. It’s convenient to have that stuff in the loo!
Oh cool, do let me know whenever you come here. :)
Eating cheese at the end of the meal in part is because the cheese is a lingering course. It is something you do not rush, and enjoy with port and coffee and conversation. It is sort of like a grazing course to nibble on while conversing with guests or nibble on while doing something like maybe watching a movie. Cheese is served at room temperature for best flavor, where as most desserts need to be served hot or cold.
Thanks for watching and this elaborate explanation. Couldn't agree more for the "no rush, with port" part but I still would have difficulties to eat salty after sweet ;-)
In France, you often choose between either dessert or cheese. In case there's both, the dessert usually comes last.
Very systematically shot the video loved it
Glad to hear that ;-) Thanks for watching.
Definitely one of the better flight reports, great work Pit.
Thanks for watching, glad to hear that ;-) This report was actually only one out of a series of four I had made following this trip: AF B777 from CDG to SIN which was the first leg of this flight and both return flights SYD-TPE on CI A350 and TPE-CDG on AF B777 again. Feel free to have a look.
It was interesting to see this review in an internal seat rather than the aisle. Thoough annoiying for you no doubt!
Thanks Daniel for your ongoing interest. Glad you liked this "new" perspective ;-)
Thank you for sharing your beautiful video
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching ;-)
Gotta love the "REFRESH YOUR CLOTHES" machine
Yeah I just had to film that one ;-) First time I saw one like that - but didn't even try it out ;- ( Thanks for watching.
Great review , I love Singapore airlines !
Thanks for watching.
Very enjoyable..watched this from home South West Rocks...will try Singapore Airlines.
Thanks for watching. SQ is definitely worth trying ;-)
Nice one as usual, Pit. I like your video style. Thank you for recording your travels and taking the time to edit and share another great review.
You're very welcome. I'm glad to see when viewers appreciate my video(s)
Very well done video. Just a little confused by your comment at the end that overall service was somewhat rushed and sometimes even confusing. Could you describe further what you meant by confusing in regards to the service. Thanks.
Thanks for watching.
I'm happy to take this opportunity to clarify.
First, don't get me wrong: the overall experience was very good and I'm happy to have had the opportunity of flying SQ again.
But as I say in my comment, I had been extremely amazed by my CDG-SIN-CDG round trip three years ago. During those two 12 hour flights, I had discovered a level of hardware, food, service and overall ambience that I had never experienced before - and I fly quite a lot. Even if you were the kind of person who loves to search for a reason to complain, you would simply not have found any ;-)
So when I purchased my AF ticket and realized that the SIN-SYD leg would be with SQ, on their new A380 that everybody talked about, I spontaneously expected that flight to be the absolute highlight of the four flights of my trip. I truly looked forward to diving into a world of nothing but total serenity and discreet efficiency again ;-)
I won't insist on the fact that the service felt "rushed" because I understand that the protocol for a 6,5 hour red eye flight is simply not the same as for a 12,5 hour day/night flight were the lunch alone takes two hours and a half ;-) One of the viewer's comments below already noted that there was no satay for instance; I hadn't even noticed that one ;-))
Now for the "confusing" part, or should I say "surprising":
The drinks and meals were all noted before taxi (a bit rushy ;-) and immediately after take-off, the aperitif service started along the two aisles. Only, it wasn't "rolled out" from the front rows towards the back but served "grouped" according to the types of drinks I guess. Besides, the cabin being quite dark, the FA's seemed to have difficulties to read what goes where which resulted in an overall "brasserie-style back-and-forth running and asking and finally serving" ambience ;-) Nothing bad about that, especially when you come from chaotic Paris, just "surprising" because it's not this ambience of calm serenity I thought was the DNA of the SQ culture.
Similar thing at meal service: when you're sitting in the center, traveling with another person, it's nice when you're both served about at the same time. Here again, the rhythm along the A-aisle was different from the one along the F-aisle, resulting in separate serving times up to a few minutes. Again, not a fundamental problem, one simply started eating while the other was still waiting ;-)
Maybe I missed the coffee/tea service when I went for my walk but it was just surprising to see that my neighbor had a coffee served from the A-side and on the F-aisle, the FA's were running up and down without noticing. I'm sure that if I had asked for a cup of green tea, I would have gotten it in no time but again, there didn't seem to be this invisible yet present "personal attention" touch that I had been so immensely impressed about three years ago.
Finally, at breakfast, I asked if I could have a different marmalade then orange and it was brought to me immediately. My neighbor, who had asked the same thing on his side, was told that unfortunately, there wasn't any other - but after pointing out to my side, was eventually brought another one, too ;-) Here also, no big deal and he finally got what he had asked for, so everybody was happy - and we were !!!!
I know that for any other airline, you wouldn't even mention these micro details but I must say that experiencing this with "Singapore Airlines", "the one and only", "the best in the world" ;-)))), I thought it was worth noting them in my flight report since it was simply a part of my experience.
But nonetheless: A GREAT WAY TO FLY ;-)
Thanks for the posting Though I still like the older version of business class . Wider seats at 34 inch in some versions
Thanks for watching. The "new" version certainly looks nice but I agree with you: the older one was definitely more comfortable. In case you're interested, here's the link to two reports I had made on that one 4 years ago
Flight Report SIN - CDG ua-cam.com/video/Ka-tiFQ6Nxs/v-deo.html
Flight Report CDG-SIN ua-cam.com/video/daLkt3fqHj0/v-deo.html
38 inch
I understand what you say about the sleeping angle of the seats! As someone who sleeps on their side (usually right) its hard to get comfortable as I found flying with Malaysia on the A 330 in Business Class. Perhaps some airlines should talk more to their high end frequent flyers about seat comfort and the fact that when you move the controls are right next to you and this happened to me with MAS where if I turned while sleeping the bed would start moving...lights would come on etc. Fab review with great video footage and a shame about the window seat but on a night flight probably not so important!!! BTW where was the signature SQ Satay ??
Well I had 2 weeks to prepare myself mentally about the "loss" of the A-side window seat. Had actually calculated to see the city upon landing. But our final approach from the south eventually helped ease the regrets ;-))))
No signature satay either - hadn't even thought about that one. Just another demonstration of the "rush" ;-)
But don't get me wrong: still a great flight and overall experience !!
awesome video and coverage; well done!!!
Thanks for watching; I'm glad you like it.
Excellent video mate! Loved the comprehensive video. The SQ seat looks great! By the way, I would like to clear this huge misconception about SQ. Singapore Airlines do HAVE exterior camers on their 773, 77W, A350s, A380 and maybe on their 787-10 (I'm not sure about the 787). They do have exterior cameras installed once again, however, it is only used by the pilots and never for the passengers. For security reasons I suppose.
Thanks for watching and your positive feedback.
Thanks also for your elaborate explanations. I'm well aware that all those aircraft have exterior cameras to provide the cockpit crew with additional info an what is going on outside and around the aircraft. What I'm talking about (and so desperately missing ;-))) are the outside views during taxi, take off, cruising, approach and landing that are part of the IFE and available for the passengers.
I have difficulties to imagine that providing these views to the public could constitute a security hazard ;-)
Thanks for the video Pit
You're very welcome; thanks for watching
Hope you enjoyed your time in Syd. QF now code share with AF to CDG. Could you photograph and show the full menu at some point in the videos Cheers.
Sydney was great and I certainly enjoyed it, thanks. My flight was actually a AF, SQ, QF (among others ;-) code share flight. Concerning the menu filming, I must say that I'm not a big fan of trembling, "browsing through a 10 page, multi-lingual menu plus wine card" sequences that can easily take up to 3 minutes (and more ;-))
Hope the punctual menu indications before each meal did the job, too.
Great review. I share your feedback. In fact, I prefer the previous SQ A380 biz class seats. The service on SQ is usually very good - if predictable. Also, knowing Singapore, makes perfect sense that they don't make the camera views available to the passengers.
Thanks for watching and your comment. I think I prefer the "old" business class seats, too. When lying, you may also have to be in a kind of diagonal position but you certainly don't have this "locked in a shell"-feel. Concerning the camera views, I still don't get what could be the issue there ;-)
for future booking you can get SQ booking number from your internet booking site then go to SQ web site and choose your seat . I did the same after booking with Virgin Australia website for codeshare flight . Hope you enjoy Australia
Thanks for the advice, good to know. Yes, enjoyED very much ;-)
Nice one!
Cheers ;-)
Seems like an honest and critical review.
Thanks - I try to ;-)
Five star coverage
Thanks Pritam for your ongoing interest. Two more (return flight) videos to go ;-)
its a fantastic review ! well done 💪
Thanks for watching and giving me this positive return ;-)
Thanks for the great report.
You're very welcome; thanks for watching.
Changi deserves to be one of best Airport in the world. Unlike Hong Kong , which is just a dump.
It certainly is !!! Can't tell about Hong-Kong, haven't been there for almost 10 years now ;-(
Thanks for watching.
Awesome trip report! Such a shame about your seat. Happy travels!!
Thanks for watching ;-)
j etais sur le vol de SQ 335 le 17 octobre , que du bonheur avec cette compagnie
Très agréable en effet. Merci d'avoir regardé.
de rien, je repart en octobre avec eva air
Having flown MEL-ZUR via SIN 3 hour stop, and return, I greatly appreciated the amenity of SQ A380a business class. My seats were rows 14 and 15. This was in 2014, when the seats were less shell-like, and there was no dreadful mood lighting. It looks horrible.
Thanks for watching. The mood lighting may look very colorful in a video but it's actually very agreeable when on board
very nice lounge coverage also inflight scenes, if possible next time cover some duty free shopping area also, thanks
Thanks for watching. Sometimes I do integrate shopping area sequences in my vids but since I had already spent quite a lot of time on the lounge and butterfly garden, I skipped those this time and went straight to the boarding ;-)
My next video, even before the return flight reports, will cover specifically "SYD - Sydney Airport Terminal 1" with lots of shopping area pics - as I did in my Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Osaka Kansai, and other European and Paris airport videos.
Just have a look at my UA-cam channel - "Flight Report and Airports"-playlist.
night time flight and arrive early am into SYD so window seat doesn't matter. also flight crew will have window shades down anyway
Not really !!!! ;-) Sure, I won't look out of the window for 6,5 hours in the dark but taxi and take-off (plus possibly city views of Singapore) at the beginning plus the sunrise and Sydney city views at early morning arrival are definitely, positively, absolutely worth having a window seat. Since our approach into SYD was from the south, the Sydney city views were not an issue anyway - which somewhat eased my regrets ;-) Thanks for watching, by the way.
Like the style of your video, cheers! Where is the signature satay dish from SQ?
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you like the vid ;-)
No satay on this flight; hence a certain frustration and an impression of having been "rushed" ;-)
I liked your video, I've flown to Singapore and other countries to. I liked that you had subtitles. Did they not put the flaps out as they were descending, or did they realise that it needed to be done mid way through the process of taxing. That part seems a bit confusing considering the shaky landing
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you like it. The flaps were out before the landing - and the landing was "shaky" because I couldn't fix my camera to anything but had to just hold it in my hand. Landing was rather smooth actually ;-)
Nice video. Well done :-)
Thanks for watching. It's always a pleasure to get this kind of feedback ;-)
herzlichen dank für dieses spezielle Video. Großartiger SQ Service und Gott sei dank haben sie die Speisekarte gezeigt.
Freue mich schon auf den AF Flug nach Europa. AF meine favorisierte Gesellschaft besonders in La Premiere.
Great blog mate... One day I will travel business class on my way to Bangkok.... For now I will just keep going cattle class haha
Thanks for watching. Hope you'll make it soon into Business ;-) It's always a great experience.
Nice 👍🏾
Thanks ;-)
great video. I follow your channel rather closely, thank you for the effort! perhaps you could do more economy class for mere mortals like us...cost of business class seems so out of reach at times.
Thanks for watching, commenting and ... following ;-)
Contrarily to some of my fellow UA-cam flight reviewers who seem to go on a journey once a month or at least every 2 to 3 months, I actually just make one major intercontinental trip per year (usually around end October/beginning November) plus one European week-end sometime in spring.
Always look forward to the BIG trip in Business ;-) So sorry, but no economy class flights planned in a short/medium term future
Hope you'll watch nonetheless. ;-))))
Awesome video 👍 ✈️
Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
great review Pit.If I was at your place I would be very angry with the seat issue.I wouldn't like it at all.
Thanks Yannis. Well, I learned about the seat 2 weeks before departure, so I had plenty of time to prepare myself mentally ;-))) Would have been really p... if I had found out just prior to boarding.
I like how Singapore Airlines sets your table in business class. Unlike Cathay Pacific where they just put a tray on your table and use those ugly casserole dishes.
Great ritual indeed - always a pleasure to watch (and record ;-)) Thanks for watching.
None of the US carriers, or US airports try for anything like this. They don't even pretend to try.
Yep !! ;-) Thanks for watching.
where is the amenity kit bag?
SQ don't give out amenity bags - which isn't a bad thing. Slippers and eye masks are at your seat and amenities are to be found in the restrooms as shown in the vid. Thanks for watching.
Great video Pit! Hit that subscribe button. Took the SYD - SIN leg in August and absolutely loved it. Hope you had the chance to check my review on that flight as well :)
Thanks for watching - and subbing. Hadn't seen your video yet but will surely do so ;-)
Nice video except for that annoying music, would prefer nothing to that
Music is always a very subjective matter ;-) Thanks for watching anyway.
